Poach: v. to willfully and forcibly steal wilderness and/or private animals (excluding humans) and/or plants
If you steal wilderness animals or plants then you are poaching. If you kill wilderness animals then you are committing an even greater crime and should be punished. Many species are on the verge of extinction due to poaching such as tigers, rhinos, and elephants and it will truly be a tragedy if these animals disappear from the face of this precious earth.
Habitat destruction is worse than poaching and has resulted in some rare species that only survive in zoos. Zoos too are an example of poaching. Taking animals out of their habitat is inhumane so I am not an ardent defender of zoos because animals are sometimes inhumanely treated in these facilities and the animals raised there are no longer capable of being released into the wild with survival potential.
China and Asia are one of the primary reasons why poaching persists so it is obvious that international cooperation and enforcement is necessary to stop criminal poaching activity.
