A suppressive regime uses force, the threat of force, and imprisonment designed to keep it in power and to minimize opposition to it.

A judge sometimes suppresses, stops, or prevents untrue evidence or testimony by disreputable humans from being presented in a court of law.

The media frequently suppresses whistle blower evidence from being aired if it is judged harmful to the corporate powers who own it or to advertisers on which they are dependent.

Some take special pills to suppress their appetite when dieting.

Suppressing anger is a common struggle which many humans deal with trying to avoid disastrous arguments and misunderstandings.
