Prosecute: v. to start and maintain legal action against a human(s)
If you are being prosecuted for a crime in criminal or civil court there is no guarantee of how long it will take, especially if you can afford good lawyers who can stall or delay prosecutions sometimes almost indefinitely or can plea bargain to a lesser offense.
Prosecutions should be more just but case overloads and monied lawyers make the judicial system much less than perfect and needed just results are the exception and not the norm.
If you are poor and can’t afford a good lawyer then you can sometimes become the victim of a harsh and unjust criminal system which is mistake prone in far too many instances. The poor suffer from exceedingly harsh sentences. It is an accepted statistical fact that the rich often go to rehab for drug offenses and the poor often go to jail.
