Privilege: n. a right not possessed by all humans but frequently possessed by an individual or groups of humans

A privilege is an exclusive right not given to everyone.

In offspring rearing giving and denying privileges is a very effective way to discipline offspring and is preferred over threatening with physical punishment.

Special privileges granted to employees can be an effective motivational tool since money alone does not necessarily create a needed sense of importance, elevated status, or selfworth in an individual.
