Quantity: n. measuring how much there is of a subset(s) which is frequently stated as a number and unit of measurement

The most accurate description of quantity is to use number and unit of measurement such as four liters.

Using number and word or description is a minimally accurate way of describing quantity such as four humans or four plants.

There is a philosophical debate as to whether quality or quantity is more important. Quality usually wins the importance battle but in physical combat historically number of troops has often been more important than quality of troops unless the large number of troops is a cowardly bunch with inferior weapons.
