Mess: n. being dirty and disorganized
A true mess is something dirty which was caused by disorganized behavior. We usually do not speak of messy toys which are chaotically strewn across the floor but do often say clean up the mess which is wrong. Clean up the chaos would be a more appropriate way of saying it.
Dirty clothes are washed but they are only messy and dirty when they are proof of spills which occurred from disorganized behavior. Clothes can be dirty and not messy.
Garages are frequently messy because they are both dirty and disorganized.
Clean up your messy desk only makes perfect sense if there are spills and food stains along with chaotic placement of items on the desk. Organize your desk is more appropriate word usage when there is chaos without dirtiness.
When humans say my life is a mess they should really be saying my life is chaotic or disorganized.

Method: n. a frequently orderly frequently logical way of doing a subset(s) and/or how to achieve a goal(s)
A method is really a way of doing something or a way of achieving a goal(s).
There is frequently more than one way to do something and your personal way is your personal method. Your method may be more impulsive and spontaneous than someone else’s more logical method and may have more steps.
The efficiency of a method is determined by the minimum number of steps needed in the smallest amount of time.
A command for humans is frequently the fastest way to get someone to do something and there are many different ways to motivate a human into doing something(s).
In democracies compromise and cooperation is the preferred method for resolving problems and getting things done.
In dictatorial or tyrannical regimes conflict is frequently resolved with the use of force or the threat of force and this is even reflected in the family life of the culture where one spouse, usually the male, plays a dominant coercive role in family life.
The concept of equal rights and an attempt to minimize discrimination is methodology unique to western civilization and it is still not the preferred method of getting things done in most of the rest of the world.
Much of modern progress and innovation is the result of the scientific method being used in the world and it is unfortunate that the scientific method and its strength in prediction is not directly applicable to human morality and the study of human behavior.
The real reason that human behavior can’t be studied scientifically is that the definition of variables is too vague and there are too many variables to make rigorous math equations. Only statistical norms  or ballpark approximations are possible with no cause effect predictable relationships.

Meticulous: adj. doing a subset(s) accurately and carefully and with attention to small subsets
If you are being accurate, careful, and detailed then you are being meticulous. Not everything in life requires careful, accurate, detailed work but that kind of work often pays very well if you can get it and do it.

Misfortune: n. bad (luck and/or circumstances)
Some misfortunes such as being the victim of an accident, a birth defect, a war, a bad environment, or a dysfunctional family is really not your fault and you can be considered to be the victim of bad luck.
There are many financial, relationship, and addiction misfortunes which you personally can be blamed for as being the primary reason for the misfortune. Yes, some financial, relationship, and addiction misfortunes may not totally be your fault and you may have just had the misfortune of associating with bad humans who were partially or mostly to blame.
Philosophically you can blame nature, society, or yourself for misfortune and the truth is that all three can be and are potential causes of misfortune.

Mislead:Â v. to deceive which sometimes may not be willful
It is easy to unintentionally mislead someone with language which has built in deceptions.
Using a word or series of words with vague definitions can easily mislead a human. Confusing directions or complicated ones can mislead a human. Using the wrong words can obscure your true intentions and cause much misunderstanding, uncertainty, and even offense.
Beliefs and opinions often have many exceptions which don’t follow logically from a communication and it is not uncommon for a human to have an opposing belief and/or opinion.
Not reading an emotional state correctly can mislead you into thinking someone is angry, upset, jealous, happy, sad, etc. and they may be in an entirely different emotional state.
Your intentions may be pure and truthful but communicating clearly without misleading or even offending is not always possible.
Politicians can be very deceptive and when they are doing so intentionally then they are misleading you intentionally. What makes political deception so believable is that some truly believe in their sloganeering dogmatism or propaganda.
