Insidious: adj. spreading harmfully and gradually with deception and/or hidden effects


Inflation, cancer, glaucoma, and subtle bad rumors are all examples of insidious economics, two insidious diseases, and insidious injurious rumors. They do great harm but relatively slowly and deceptively making them in effect stealth like ripoffs which injure the victim(s) involved in the long duration.
