Indignation: n. sensing righteous anger for an immorality and/or an intentional injury
When someone intentionally lies to you, steals from you, commits adultery, or injures you then you can sense righteous anger or indignation. There is no question that you were violated or wronged and theoretically they should be punished in some way by the law or society.
A personal desire for revenge may also develop as an outgrowth of your righteous anger that no one has punished them yet and you may erroneously assume that it is your duty to punish the offender in some way. If you have been stolen from or physically injured it may be possible to prosecute if you have factual evidence which could be used in court to convict.
In the real world where all the wrongdoers can’t be realistically prosecuted and are not always punished for their immorality and intentional injury the best course of action is just to avoid such humans as much as possible and not include them in your list of friends who are potentially worthy of your trust and respect.
