Incarceration: n. confining for (penalty and/or protective care) and/or guardianship

Most incarcerations put humans in prisons but there are cases of protective care and/or custody and/or guardianship which confines humans within certain boundaries for their own protection.

In cases of minor or child custody a human(s) is given rights to care for, possess, and limit the movement of samer child and/or minor and this sometimes results in incarceration for usually relatively short durations as a punishment for immoral behavior and/or bad behavior.
