6 WAYS TO PERSUADE OTHERS PROVEN BY SCIENCE!!!

mcdaniel-persuasion

Very often you would like to persuade someone or get someone to say yes and agree to a suggestion or offer which you are making. There is an excellent link at the end of this blog which explains this very well in a video presentation.

If you want to view the excellent video at a later time then here is a brief and somewhat dry introduction to the topic.

RECIPROCITY: Humans are more likely to reciprocate, give back something, or be persuaded better if you do them a favor in a nice way first or give them something useful free as a token of your potential generosity.

SCARCITY: If humans sense there is a scarce service or product available which seems to be in short supply then there is a tendency to want to get it right away for fear that it will no longer be available again.

AUTHORITY:  An opinion, advice, or guidance from an authority figure with years of experience or expertise in a job is viewed more favorably than a generic or doubtfully qualified individual’s advice or guidance.

CONSISTENCY: Humans like to be consistent with what they have done in the past and if you can get prior commitment to something then chances are greater that they will follow through when asked again.

LIKING: If you share something that you like in common with a human that you are trying to persuade which may be as simple as a mutually liked food then there is more of a tendency to be persuaded or liking what you have to offer. Humans like others who are similar to them, pay them some nice compliments, and have a cooperative attitude in reaching future goals.

CONSENSUS: If you suggest or present evidence that as many as 75% of humans  who have much in common with the one whom you are trying to persuade  are buying or doing the same thing then the probability that they will also want to buy or do that something increases. This is an example of the herd instinct or wanting to become part of the same crowd of similar humans.

THE TRUTH ABOUT IMPULSIVE*

57861169

Impulsive: adj. doing a subset(s) almost instantly without conscientious forethought

Most human behavior is impulsive and that includes the emotions which you experience under given circumstances and/or behaviors. Most of us live in a largely impulsive world complete with good and bad habits which are repeated over and over again in the same basic manner. Our impulsive reactions to the world are all a function of our knowledge, skills, education, and attitude and you can make a general statement that prior experiences and occasional future goals to a large extent determine our impulsive reactions.

Very infrequently do we actually take time out to think about something and the possible consequences before we react to humans and circumstances. Even the problem solvers of this world impulsively use their prior successful experiences at problem solving to guide their next rather impulsive solutions to new problems.

Except with the possible exception of scientists, the common human does not really engage in any rational or logical thinking but uses the rather highly emotionally biased language with its inaccurately defined relatively vague words to communicate about the world around them.

Politicians are notorious for their attempts at manipulating the emotions of the public with appropriate words and phrases which all basically have a good or a bad connotation depending on your predetermined political views. More accurately your emotional response largely depends on your prior beliefs and opinions which are rarely based on carefully evaluation of new relevant factual information or data.

The human condition rarely changes dramatically because the myths and deceptions of previous generations are all passed on to the new generation which inherits all the brainwashing of previous generations. Fundamental human nature doesn’t change nor does the archaic language used and history continues to repeat itself in many ways making the same historical mistakes which plagued the old generations.

Until the language becomes more logical with much more smart human communication going on, I see no long duration permanent improvement in this world or improvement in the overall relatively handicapped human condition.

THE TRUTH ABOUT IMPURITY*

images

Impurity: n. having a subset(s) within a set which has no original correspondence with samer set and which frequently decreases the value of the original set if samer subset(s) is added to and/or exists in the set

Having or adding a foreign substance to a uniquely defined existing substance is called an impurity and in real life very few things are 100% pure. Even distilled water can be less than 100% pure due to dissolved gases or trace molecules from the distillation apparatus.

We all live in an impure world with many impurities and the real question to frequently answer is how much of an impurity is tolerable or how much of that impurity makes the substance or product intolerable, unacceptable, or substandard?

THE TRUTH ABOUT INACCURACY*

quote-accuracy-is-the-twin-brother-of-honesty-inaccuracy-of-dishonesty-nathaniel-hawthorne-81312

Inaccuracy: n. deviating much from a subset(s)

If your goal is to work at management level in a prestigious company and you only land a job as an office clerk with the company then you are using a highly inaccurate approach. Missing your target or goal by a few centimeters may not be your personal fault but missing your target or goal by a meter is largely your own fault.

Relatively few humans are so talented or so knowledgeable, skilled, and educated that they can reach their primary goal on first try. Many more go through many trying, disappointing, or setback experiences in life before success and most have to start somewhere near the bottom and work their way up to a successful prestigious career and/or leadership position.

An attempt at accurate communication implies honesty and using inaccurate communication sometimes implies some possible deception or dishonesty.

THE TRUTH ABOUT INADEQUACY*

maxresdefault (4)

Inadequacy: n. not having 100% of the requirements essential to an identified subset(s) and not achieving a goal(s)

If you can’t achieve a goal(s) then chances are great that there is some inadequacy which you will have to overcome. You may have inadequate knowledge, skills, experience, social connections, talent, or financial means to achieve your goal(s).

You can overcome your inadequacies in many cases if it is just an absence of knowledge, skills, or experience but in some cases there is no substitute for inborn talent, the right social connections, and the financial means to do it yourself or hire talented, socially connected humans to achieve your goal(s) for you.
