Expectation: n. believing that a subset(s) is largely probable in the future

When you expect something to happen there is usually a large probability that it will happen in the future. Expecting a visitor, expecting a baby, expecting the sun to rise every morning, etc. are all examples of a belief that some future event will happen with a large probability.

Yes, it is possible that the visitor may not show up for the appointment or that a miscarriage may happen to a fetus but in most cases your expectation is fulfilled. Expecting the sun to rise every morning is 100% probable or certain and it is sad that most things in life are not that predictable.
