A REVOLUTIONARY APPROACH TO SOCIAL SERVICES IS NECESSARY: THE CURRENT SYSTEM IS BROKEN!!!

2014-dhssps-logo

In Britain there are about 70 government agencies to help humans in crisis situations and the bureaucracy is so great that it costs a quarter of a million pounds to service some crisis humans on a yearly basis without any good results or changes in the bad situation. Reams of time consuming paperwork are filled out by government case workers and government officials and almost no time is spent developing a closer relationship with the human in crises situations who is often a loner or single woman with children isolated from social relationships and community interactions.

The revolutionary recommended approach is to encourage social interaction with other humans who can help and form circles of mutual helping friendship. Often word of mouth is the most efficient way humans find employment opportunities or work recommendations from a friend of a friend.

Here is an excellent link to a ted.com talk by Hilary Cottam who does a great job of presenting the revolutionary approach to social services that actually works at much less cost!!! Enjoy!
