Covert: adj. a deceptive and/or secret subset(s)

Covert behavior by spies is necessary but humans also use covert behavior to gain advantage over others by being deceptive and secretive about their own intentions or motives for behaving the way that they do.

If you practice covert behavior on others and they discover your deception and secrecy then they will probably lose respect for you. If they at some point began to admire you then the admiration will also disappear and your reputation will be in the toilet.

Covet: v. to intensely desire to possess a subset(s) and sometimes enviously

Jealousy sometimes is the source for covetous feelings because we sometimes intensely desire to possess the things which someone else important or popular has. It may be a beautiful or handsome spouse, attractive offspring, or material possessions such as a big ranch, big house, sporty car, or designer clothes.

What we should not covet is our neighbors spouse because it can ruin a good family relationship. Coveting other things which are sustainable possessions is the moral thing to be doing because it has the minimum impact on wilderness and it’s necessary survival.
