Admit: v. to acknowledge the truth of a subset(s) and sometimes it implies that this is sometimes done reluctantly because samer subset(s) is wrong behavior and/or a crime
Admitting that you don’t have the rent money, that you gambled your paycheck money away, or that you made a mistake is probably easier than admitting that you lied about an affair or did some criminal behavior. If you did admit to a big lie then it would probably be with great reluctance.
