MARRY WHEN YOU CAN AFFORD IT!!!

Historically in many cultures and currently in many parts of India, Pakistan, etc. there is something called a dowry which is some property in the form of goods, land, money, etc. which is usually given to the groom by the bride’s family upon marriage. You can argue all you want about the advantages and disadvantages of the dowry system but the fundamental fact is that marriage with offspring is an expensive proposition and the more financial resources that a couple has, the more probable it is that the family will have a secure and hopefully happy future.

Yes, a family with offspring is an expensive proposition so it is obvious why a dearth of enough money is often the leading cause of many divorces in the modern western world. In effect, a family can’t survive on love alone. All you need is love to marry is the popular dominant dangerous myth promoted in the west.

Historically in agrarian cultures where you have mostly farmers, offspring were an advantage because they could help with the farm work and make the family money and in old age families often stayed together so offspring were also old age insurance when the parents could no longer work on the farm.

Today most offspring are an incredibly large financial liability and cost an arm and a leg to educate and provide them with basic necessities. There are also many cases where upon graduation the offspring can’t find a decent paying job and wind up living with the parents for financial reasons.

So the best advice to give before marriage is make sure that you can afford it, especially if you want to have offspring. Yes, you can marry, use family planning or contraception and not have offspring until you can afford it. If you have offspring by accident and one spouse doesn’t want an abortion then a nasty divorce with unwanted legal financial responsibilities may be the result.

Now love and sex is a very powerful force of nature and it is entirely possible to run across a potential very compatible mate as young adults but neither party is making enough money or both are still educating themselves for a useful job or career. What do you do? Well you can live together or live separately being sexually faithful and use birth control and under no circumstances beget offspring. If a spouse gets pregnant then the smartest thing to do is to either get an abortion or give up the child to an adoption agency upon birth. Marriage should mean offspring and until you can afford offspring, don’t marry!

In the modern era usually both spouses are working and you may be wrongly concluding that you can afford offspring. Realistically child care, especially when they are young is a full time occupation and unless you can afford a nanny prepare for the high probability that one spouse will have to take much time off from the job to raise the young child. You will be surviving on one salary alone for a considerable period of time so make sure that you have enough money saved up or better yet wait until one spouse alone can afford to support the family with child.

If one spouse is a compulsive shopper or another accumulates large credit card debt then this is a danger sign that there is financial hardship ahead. If neither spouse is financially responsible then the relationship will probably crash and burn so avoid this circumstance as much as possible. If one spouse is financially responsible and in charge of all the money then the relationship may still be doable but not if both are financially irresponsible. If one is financially responsible and the other is not then prepare for a boatload of ongoing nasty arguments about money.

Yes, enough money and managing it wisely is very important in a marriage and if you fail on either count then most of your arguments will be about money and will almost definitely lead to eventual divorce.

HOW TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN BUSINESS!!!

no-secrets-to-success

To be successful in business you basically need to be in almost total control of yourself and that means being emotionally intelligent or being in control of your emotions with an ability to communicate well with humans. Surrounding yourself with confident, competent, talented coworkers and workers and networking with successful humans is vital for business success in the long duration.

Not everyone in business wants to be a leader in management but if you want to manage then there are the important things which you must know about emotions, career, employees, coworkers, communications, and bosses. Geoffrey James gives a pretty comprehensive detailed list of what is important to know under the listed categories. Here is a link to his rather comprehensive article on the “secrets” to business success.

AN ABUNDANT LIFE LIVED BY CATEGORY!!!

abundance

You can live a happy life with your basic needs met which is food, drink, clothes, and shelter but most humans want to live a fuller life and have other humans and things in it too.

There are about 10 basic categories or classifications of human activity and you can decide whether you would like to participate in some or most of them.

Family/Friends/Significant Other/Romance:

Nature usually rewards its best creations with reproductive success. Human civilization does not always reward its best creations with reproductive success so there are many healthy, smart, and attractive humans who don’t reproduce at all.

More and more in modern society are leading relatively selfish lives pursuing their passions in life and not passing on their genes to the next generation.

Family life is the foundation of any lasting society, many still chose to have one, and it is a major priority in many human lives.

Health/Fitness:

Without good mental and physical health life can become quite miserable and even terminal. Eating as much organic food as possible and getting in some exercise is the best guarantee for a healthy life which is the foundation of living success.

Education/Personal Growth:

Useful education and continually trying to improve yourself is the second most important priority which will usually ensure a good paying job and steady improvement in lifestyle throughout a lifetime. Stop growing in knowledge and experiences and your life may stagnate and not lead to any significant achievements in a life filled with regrets later in old age.

Finances/Wealth/Philanthropy:

With good health and useful ongoing education earning money should become easier making for a better standard of living and the possibility of giving some of the money to worthwhile philanthropic causes such as wildlife conservation and medical research.

Fun/Recreation/Sports:

Even if you love your work everyone needs a little balance in their lives and should leave some time for rest, relaxation, or a change of pace to recharge your energy level. For some entertainment may be passive reading, listening to music, watching a movie, or surfing the internet. For others active sporting activity and traveling may be a preferred way to unwind and enjoy other things in life besides work.

Spirituality/Religion/Morality:

Not everyone needs formalized religion to give them purpose in life and a morality to live by. Religion is the traditional way that morality was taught to the masses and if you are not an enlightened moral modern human then you should perhaps consider exposing your offspring to religious education in their formative years because chances are that they will rebel against it later in life anyway.

If you chose a religion to follow then I would recommend the Jewish faith because of their emphasis on the importance of education, morality, and community support of its members which is important in modern day networking and in establishing useful social and business connections.

Business/Career:

Every career should really be considered a profit or nonprofit business with paying customers whose needs and wants you are trying to satisfy. If you are not satisfying some needs or wants or doing it badly then you should go out of business and go bankrupt.

Providing better customer service with the passage of time is also a very important consideration and you should be constantly learning about new developments or trends in your career so that you don’t become outdated or obsolete with the passage of time in this ever changing modern world of technological advancements.

The Arts/Music/Theater:

Liberal arts is becoming increasingly job poor in the technological 21st century. With the democratization of the internet and much sharing going on musicians, actors, authors, cartoonists, comedians, photographers, and artists are having a very hard time getting paid for their creative efforts and making a living at it.

Education will have to be radically changed to emphasize training in technology and science with much less emphasis on liberal arts and the humanities.

Community/Politics:

Isolation from community and politics is increasing with more and more humans suffering from depression which results from social isolation. Welfare is reducing the need for humanitarian volunteer work in the community and big money is making the political process a very unrewarding excursion into futility with almost everything getting worse and not better.

The individual sense of powerlessness is on the rise as power becomes more and more centralized and laws are so numerous that almost everyone gets adversely affected by them.

Because of an archaic emphasis on liberal arts in education and rapid advances in technology the middle class is being devastated job wise and the good jobs require skills which most of the population does not have. In the future it is highly probable that most will be living on welfare in a job poor environment. Society will have to be radically restructured if it is to survive economically in the 21st century.

Home/Garden:

A nice private home with an organic garden is what some humans yearn for but more and more will be renting in urban settings in the future as the middle class shrinks in numbers and suburban life becomes an unaffordable luxury.

THE TRUTH ABOUT SACRIFICE

images (1)

Sacrifice: v. to extremely attach to a goal(s) which frequently causes an extreme decrease in the variety of personal goals and/or a large change in material wealth

Sacrifice means ignoring many desirable personal goals in the pursuit of one or relatively few other goals such as extreme wealth and/or professional success.

Altruists are not the only ones making personal sacrifices to achieve their primary goal.

Many leaders and celebrities sacrifice family, close friendships, and relatively mundane pleasures for leadership or celebrity success.

Working hard to acquire new skills and knowledge seems like sacrificing a life of leisure and indulgence for many but to the hard workers it is means opening up new possibilities for future beneficial opportunities.

If you are not ignoring important things then you are not sacrificing them and if you are ignoring trivial things then sacrificing them is almost an obligation.

WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO BE SUCCESSFUL?

Success-01

Some are leaders, most are followers, and the remainder are leaders and followers within organizations. Who you become will determine whether you will consider yourself a success in life. Few realize that being a follower can also be a successful life even though you don’t have many friends and don’t become rich along the way.

If you want to become a top leader then you will have to have good social skills or what is called emotional IQ where you can evaluate the worth of an individual as a worker or useful participant in your organization rather successfully. Some signs of leadership potential is having a good memory for names, getting good grades in school, being the head of one or more clubs in school, and having excellent skills and knowledge about the organization which you will be leading and the functions it performs.

If you enjoy being with humans and interact with them successfully then you are leadership potential.  It greatly helps if you have an education from a prestigious university and if your family is rich and socially well connected but you can also try to work your way up an organization starting at the relative bottom and working your way up to a high leadership position based on a good fundamentals skill set.

Most with leadership potential wind up working in middle management and never work their way up to the top leadership position unless they start a business of their own and are the leaders right from the start.

Most of us are successful if we have a job or career which pays well and can afford a family which will be our primary legacy when we reach old age.

Success for most of us is living day to day, paying our bills, and being relatively happy at what we are doing. If you live a healthy life, have some excitement along the way, and die at a relatively old age then you can consider your life to have been a success.

If you have contributed to conservation organizations and tried to live sustainably trying to conserve biodiversity then you have truly been a morally outstanding citizen of the world and nature will thank you for it.

If you are an honest, sincere, dependable, trustworthy, and competent human who cares about biodiversity then you are living a successful life and should be proud of yourself.

25 THINGS TO DO DURING YOUR FIRST MONTH ON THE JOB AND EVEN LATER ON!!!!!!

40

In a nutshell, when you are starting a new job then you should be on your best behavior and start finding out information about and interacting with the humans which you will be working with in a friendly, not boorish or rude way. You should also start learning the skills which you will need on the job if you don’t have all of them already.

Most important of all, don’t start giving advice or making suggestions on how to improve the job until you have acquired a rather complete knowledge about the humans working with you and/or the rules of the job and how successfully in your estimation the rules are being followed.

Michael Dooley gives a useful list of what to do and not do on the first day on the job and many of the suggestions apply to working on the job later on also.

  1. Show up at least 15 minutes early for your shift.
  2. Avoid judging individuals based on their first impression.
  3. Don’t share negative first impressions with other individuals.
  4. Build relationships with everyone, not a friendship with someone.
  5. Find out what is important to the company- immediately.
  6. Avoid openly comparing your old job with your new job.
  7. You don’t need to prove you “already knew that.”
  8. Try to avoid being perfect at a task before you dive in.
  9. Show initiative by offering to learn doing a task, rather than only observing it.
  10. Don’t probe employees for their opinions on your new leader
  11. Don’t ask individuals what you can get away with at work.
  12. Put your cell phone away at all costs, even if all of the other employees are using them (personal usage).
  13. Dress your best, look presentable- no wrinkles etc.
  14. Ask others what drives them, and what their hobbies are to show your human side.
  15. Follow up with other’s interests by sharing your own when they are similar.
  16. Be the last employee to leave for the day.
  17. Get plenty of sleep and be well-rested, don’t complain about being tired and bored.
  18. Show general interest in other’s assignments and responsibilities.
  19. Recap with your leader at the end of the day; thank them for providing you an excellent job.
  20. Avoid making suggestions at all costs! Wait until you understand the business before you try to fix it.
  21. When it is time for breaks, try to connect with everyone, force yourself to engage with others.
  22. Be extremely professional, don’t curse or say inappropriate comments-ever.
  23. Find top performing individuals- this is essential for your initial and ongoing development.
  24. Don’t complain about processes and policies until you are qualified to challenge them.
  25. Show nonstop appreciation for those willing to teach you along the way.

WHAT EMPLOYERS ARE LOOKING FOR DEPENDS ON THE JOB TYPE

irs-audit-employer-211x300

All employers prefer someone with some job experience because punctuality is important in any job since the biggest problem is employees not showing up for work. If you have held jobs in the past for more than just a few months it is an indication that you also will probably show up for work on a regular basis.

Minimum wage jobs such as fast food jobs and cashier jobs with a high turnover are frequently jobs where the manager is afraid of his or her job security and will frequently not react very well to someone who expresses a desire to move up in the business hierarchy or organization.  Many of those managers feel insecure in their jobs and do not want you to compete with them for their job.

A happy personality with good communications skills is always a plus but students studying and needing a part or full time work will frequently be hired first because they frequently don’t present a job threat to management and are sometimes more responsible than high school graduates.

Not having a motor vehicle is frequently a sign of financial hardship, financial irresponsibility, and an increased probability or assumption of drug use so it is best to have some form of personal transportation such as a car or motorcycle.

Jobs requiring creativity and thinking independently will frequently require more job experience and more proof that you can do the job successfully. Your resume will become more important with more details about your educational background, achievements, and interests and hobbies outside of work. You may be probed rather thoroughly to determine whether you will be a good team player where being a team player is important.

Specialty skills jobs which don’t require much teamwork will more thoroughly probe whether you have the necessary basic skills or whether you will need some follow up training or education in your field of expertise. Enthusiasm for your specialty job and confidence in your ability is important to convey because selfmotivation is important when working mostly alone without much coworker emotional and skill support.

During a minimum wage job interview let the employer ask almost all the questions unless you have been working at a specialty for many years and are sincerely looking for a job with more pay or greater opportunity to move up in the business organization. If it is a career job then showing caring and asking about benefits and possible perks and advancement potential becomes very important. The job interview should be more of a two way street where questions are asked by the employer and employee and both hope to reach mutually satisfying goals.

One final comment is probably most important to note. First impressions last and you should show up for a minimum wage job interview neat and clean in casual standard clothing without a t-shirt. Career job and executive interviews frequently create a better impression with formal clothing for men and to some extent women too. Smile if you can where appropriate and give the impression that you are generally happy with your life and optimistically moving forward in your life.
