THE TRUTH ABOUT FIGHT*

download

Fight: n. any very intense (competition and/or struggle) and/or very angry dispute with a large probability that bodily impacts will exist between two or more (humans and/or animals) and/or robots frequently without deadly weapons but sometimes with them

Fights are common among young offspring and there are even fighting sports and video games. Angry disputes among adults sometimes result in fights and physical abuse is common in some unfortunate families. Society tries to minimize fights with strict laws against them but violent fighting still breaks out in some instances.

History can be viewed as armed conflict or fighting between groups and nations and is the ultimate way of settling important disputes which have no peaceful solution. Mutually assured nuclear destruction has prevented world wars between nations but fighting is still alive and well as a solution to small territorial disputes.

THE TRUTH ABOUT OPPOSE+

Oppose

Oppose: v. to conflict and/or compete against a subset(s)

If someone wants to do something and you don’t want them to do it then you are opposing them. This is what the essence of conflict is and there is also competing for the same goal(s) which is a form of opposition since you want possession of something which another party wants also.

When someone is pushing and you are pulling in the opposite direction then you are opposing them.

Language is also basically structured on an antonym for almost every word and opposition is basically institutionalized in the way that humans interact with one another. It recognizes the basic fact that almost anything that you may want to do there is probably someone whom you can find that wants to do the opposite of it sometimes or even always.

Human society is basically the struggle between opposing sides- the haves and the have nots. The have nots want what the haves have and the haves are reluctant to part with what they have.

THE TRUTH ABOUT FRANCHISING+

images

Generalized franchising statistics are very misleading and seldom give an accurate picture of each franchisee’s actual experience which frequently is worse than what the statistics portray.

A 1995 study by Dr. Timothy Bates, a professor at Wayne State University in Detroit, found that the franchise failure rate actually exceeded 30 percent and that franchises made lower profits than independent entrepreneurs. Dr. Bates’ study also found that the average capital investment of franchisees was $500,000, compared to $100,000 for independent entrepreneurs.

“Twenty years from their start, less than 20% of the franchisers will still be around,” Prof. Shane says. “In fact, of the more than 200 new franchise systems established in the United States each year, 25% don’t even make it to their first anniversary.”

Small business association loan default rates vary from about 90% to 10% depending on the company and only indirectly give you misleading ball park figures of the success rate for a business that may not have used a small business association loan.

It is not obvious to most that the location of the business, the type of business, management skills of the franchise, need for the business in the community, brand popularity, and competing similar businesses surrounding the franchise are leading reasons for success or failure and no one has really effectively studied a franchise failure rate or success rate based on those 5 important parameters.

Pick a remote location or one with low potential customer density, have bad employee managing skills, pick a business the community doesn’t need or only needs about two times a year, pick a business brand no one recognizes by name, and pick a business with many similar competitors and your failure is 100% guaranteed.

If you haven’t researched and verified these 5 parameters for your business then it is basically a crap shoot with minimal opportunity for success in the long duration and you will probably lose what money you personally have invested plus you will default on a loan if you got one.

Even if your start up business seems to be a roaring success future competitors setting up shop near you may devastate your business in the long duration.

Saturation in most businesses or too much similar competition is a major reason why new businesses frequently fail since the profit pie is so small to begin with.

I am not trying to scare you but if you have no prior business experience and only money to lose then chances are that you will lose all of it with franchise investing. The odds are against you in a major way.

THE TRUTH ABOUT RESISTANCE***

support-resistance

Resistance: n. opposing a (force(s) and/or desire(s)) and/or subset(s)

If you oppose force, a desire or temptation, a command, or a concept or belief then you are offering resistance.

Opposing force may lead to fighting and opposing a desire to take drugs may lead to withdrawal symptoms and both are examples of resistance. You can also oppose a command, a concept, or a belief which can lead to punishment, disagreement, or an argument.

In an ideal world there should be no resistance to what you want to do but in the real world friction, conflict, competition, and habits exist to frequently prevent you from reaching any goal or goals which you may have.

USE 2 OF THESE 5 NEGOTIATION STYLES FREQUENTLY!!!

Winning-Negotiations-300x199

The most mutually beneficial 2 negotiating styles are frequently the compromising and collaborative styles and the remaining three styles or competitive, accommodating, and avoiding styles are frequently winning or losing styles where one side frequently benefits the most by a large degree.

Compromising negotiations are situations where you frequently win some and lose some. One side gets something that they want and the other side gets something that they want but one side does not generally get all that they want without giving something up.

In compromising divorce negotiations the future ex-husband may want more visitation rights and the future ex-wife may only agree if the alimony payment is higher. The male spouse gets greater visitation rights but gives up more of his money and the wife gets more money but gets less living convenience because of having to share the offspring more.

In compromising car sales negotiations you may negotiate for a lower price with the promise that you will buy right away. The salesman may not want to reduce the price and his commission but may be willing to do so to increase his sales volume or just to make a sale which he might be rather desperate to make.

Collaborative negotiations are situations where you have mutual goals which you want to achieve and each contributes your just share to the effort. It is a win win situation.

In a collaborative family vacation negotiation neither of you may be able to afford an expensive vacation but if you both contribute money from your paychecks then it is doable.

Competitive negotiations have winners and losers which are sometimes necessary for fast results or in situations where a deadline must be met.

In a competitive job assignment one sales human may compete with another sales human from the same company for a new prized regional sales area. One will be chosen and hopefully the one deserving of the position or the one meriting it will get the job and the other loses or doesn’t get it.

In a competition for the family car to use on a date two offspring may compete for the rights and one generally wins the right to drive the car. Hopefully the one with the greatest urgency such as a first date or the most important event such as a prom will win the rights to drive the car.

Competitive negotiations sometimes hide important facts or one side tries to deceive the other so there is frequently more dishonesty in competitive negotiations. The more honest both sides are the more just will be the end result of a competitive negotiation and one side will not feel that they have been unjustly screwed in some way with untruths.

Accommodating negotiations are giving in because you feel the relationship is worth saving at the expense of losing. You start to demand punctuality from your spouse and they just refuse to be punctual and continue to make lame excuses for the tardiness. The rest of the marital relationship seems fine to you so you relent or give up and accept the tardiness as a fact of life which you will have to live with. If you are too accommodating then there will be a tendency for your spouse to take advantage of you in other important things also.

Avoiding negotiations are really not negotiations at all but frequently examples of being ignored perhaps hoping that the problem will eventually be ignored by you too. You should clearly state what is expected of the other party in the situation when something finally will be done and the matter will be properly negotiated and a satisfactory conclusion reached.

To avoid many unpleasant confrontational arguments you should learn the rules for calm discussion or understand that proper negotiation techniques are frequently the answer which actually solves problems to some extent and does not let them fester for too long with bad consequences for a relationship.

THE TRUTH ABOUT CHALLENGE

challenges

Challenge: v. to try to achieve a goal(s) which will take an above average quantity of effort to achieve and frequently does not have a great probability of being achieved and/or to ask to compete in a subset(s)

In life there are many challenges. We are asked to compete with others to see who can read, run, or do a task the fastest. We compete with others for grades, jobs, and spouses and have many other challenges or goals in life which we try to fulfill to the best of our ability.

Individuals compete with one another but so do organizations and nations. Life is filled with challenges along the way and some of us do a better job of achieving them than others because we are born talented or with better physical and mental abilities and circumstances.

Other humans will challenge you in life but it is more important to challenge yourself and set worthwhile goals to achieve in your life.
