THE TRUTH ABOUT DANGER+

Danger

Danger: n. a subset(s) which can cause potential injury and/or death

Something dangerous has the potential to cause personal injury, personal embarrassment, and sometimes even death.

There are dangerous hurricanes, volcanoes, tornadoes, and storms but fear is a dominant concern for most humans and they may even consider certain foods, drinks, insects, and relatively harmless animals as being dangerous. They are afraid to eat certain foods, drink certain drinks, or come close to some insects and animals for fear that they will be attacked or poisoned.

Fear or avoidance of feared subsets is dominant in most human subconscious minds and except for thrill seekers most humans try to avoid situations or circumstances which they consider dangerous or which they fear.

A phobia is an extreme reaction to feared subsets and if you research the many forms of phobias then you will find that some humans can be afraid of almost anything, including such harmless objects as small rooms and even dirt. There is even a fear of public places and you can imagine how handicapped these humans are with such a phobia.

THE TRUTH ABOUT PRUDENCE+

Prudence-logo

Prudence: adj. reasoned and careful and good judgment which increases the probability of danger and/or risk avoidance

Prudent behavior minimizes danger and large risk with careful, good, and reasoned judgment. Prudent behavior is subjective to some extent because what may seem prudent to one human may be not so prudent to another human.

No two humans are careful, good, and do reasoning the same way since impulsiveness predominates in behavior and it is based on all of ones prior experiences. Every human’s impulsiveness is different to some extent and so prudent behavior is also different from one human to the next.

THE TRUTH ABOUT RESCUING***

images

Rescue: v. to do a subset(s) which excludes a different subset(s) from danger and/or distress

You can be rescued from a danger such as a fire and distress such as an angry confrontation. Whatever the danger or distress, there are organizations or individuals skilled in rescue operations.

Protective parents try to protect their offspring from all kinds of dangers and childhood distresses. Protective organizations such as the fire department, police department, animal control, and ambulance services are rescue oriented when the need arises in the community.

Rescuing is frequently a last resort when you are in desperate trouble. To exclude the need for rescuing avoid the dangers and distressing situations in the first place.

THE TRUTH ABOUT COWARDICE***

To-know-what-is-right-and-not-to-do-it-is-the-worst-cowardice-Confucius-life-picture-quote1

Cowardice: n. stopping the pursuit of a goal(s) when there is the potential of serious but important confrontation and/or when the pursuit of the goal(s) is filled with too much danger

Historically a military coward was one who chose to hide or run away from a losing battle.

Social cowards are humans who avoid important confrontations at all costs and will not defend themselves, their offspring, or spouse from abusive verbal and even physical assaults. Avoiding physical violence is rather smart and not necessarily cowardice but not trying to defend yourself or family from unjustified verbal abuse in public is a form of cowardice which should be replaced by verbal defensive actions.

If someone calls your wife a slut and she isn’t then a comeback of “no she isn’t!” or “what makes you say that?” is the least that you should say as a defensive action in public. Don’t be afraid to bravely defend the humans who are dear in your life and expect you to stand up and defend them in public if they are being slandered or verbally abused.

Finally. NOT DOING WHAT IS RIGHT because of fear of social or group disapproval can also be considered to be a form of moral or behavioral cowardice.

THE TRUTH ABOUT ADVENTURE***

adventure-thumb

Adventure: n. a frequently risky dangerous activity(s) whose primary goal(s) is frequently excitement not profit

Roaming a wild rainforest, hitchhiking across a country, and orbiting in space can all be considered true adventures because there is some risky danger involved. If you visit a civilized foreign country then you may feel that it is an adventure but there is really very little dangerous risk associated with it and it should be called traveling with very little adventure included.

If you are just doing something new that may seem to be an adventure to you but if there is no dangerous risk associated with it then it is merely experiencing something new and not a true adventure.

Most adventures are done for personal enjoyment or excitement but there are some interesting humans who make a living out of an adventurous life.

Risky dangerous sports like whitewater kayaking and rock climbing could be considered to be adventurous sports but most adventures frequently include more than  one specialized physical activity.

THE TRUTH ABOUT BRAVERY

soldier-to-receive-medal-of-honor-for-incredible-bravery-after-his-afghan-outpost-was-overrun

Bravery: n. trying to achieve a goal(s) under very physically dangerous circumstances where death is a possible result

Bravery is dominant in military conflicts and today it is demonstrated in very dangerous professions such as firefighting, police work, and dangerous construction work where death is a possibility in some circumstances.

Bravery is a subset of courage which is used primarily to describe very risky behavior where death is rarely a possibility. When you are very brave and can qualify for a medal in wartime is when the probability of surviving physically with your life are against you. The highest medals are for situations where the probability of physical survival is very low or somewhere around 10% or lower.

THE TRUTH ABOUT ANXIETY

anxiety

Anxiety: n. a low to medium intensity fear resulting from the anticipation of a (realistic and/or fantasized dangerous event(s)) and/or (threatening event(s) and/or bad circumstance(s)) which may be accompanied by the uncertainty of not knowing (what to do and/or what will exist) good and/or bad

Anxiety is not very intense fear so it is not paranoia.

You may be anxious because you are not certain that something good or bad will exist in the future and this uncertainty or doubt can be a slightly fearful feeling especially if it is something bad which may exist. If it is a good possibility the slight fear or anxiety is because you fear it may disappear or go away or not exist the way that you hope it will.

Most anxiety originates from the anticipation of a dangerous or threatening event in the future which may be real or fantasized mentally.

If the anticipation is just an impulsive expression of low or medium intensity fear in the mind originating from stored unconscious fearful past experiences then your mind has no logical control over the feelings. You will probably need much reassurance by others that you should try to eliminate the fear with constant denial.

Unfortunately willing impulsive anxiety to disappear is frequently not possible and psychologists frequently prescribe drugs to lessen the intensity of the anxiety but it never cures the impulsive feeling which does not go away if it is irrational and not based on real fearful things. The irrational impulsive fears are the result of historical bad experiences stored in sub conscious memory. Unfortunately you can change the past but you can create new good experiences which may reduce the intensity of those bad historical sub conscious memories.

Anxiety disorders are not mental illnesses with chemical imbalances in the brain but merely impulsive low and/or medium intensity fears which we have which may or may not be grounded on facts.

Using drugs leads to real chemical imbalances in the brain with disastrous side effects which are worse when you try to withdraw from the drug. Anxieties are just a fact of life of daily existence and some humans have more anxieties than others which may slightly interfere with their ability to successfully lead their daily lives but it is not an excuse for medication use!

The only cure for anxieties is reconditioning the brain by placing the human in an environment free of anxieties or with minimum anxieties or with circumstances which don’t lead to anxieties and KEEP THEM THERE for an extended period of time. Yes this is radical behavior modification and it costs much money and time to do so but it is the only hope for a cure that the patient with many anxiety problems has. Psychiatric drugs don’t cure anxieties but merely mask the symptoms which resurface sooner or later if the patient remains in the anxiety causing environment!!!!!!

Not many have the luxury of moving to a relatively anxiety free environment so most of us just have to grit our teeth and live as best that we can with reassurances from humans who care about us that most anxieties will change with time or even go away given enough time with many new anxiety free experiences in life.

Anxiety disorder is merely a deceptive way of saying that you are not meeting acceptable social norms of behavior but the answer should not be -take drugs!!!!!

All very intense anxieties are phobias if they are predictable and exist frequently and not anxiety disorders as the psychiatric profession wrongly claims. Anxieties are usually low to medium intensity normal human fear behaviors and not to be treated with psychiatric artificial drugs.

When impulsive very intense fears exist too frequently or are compulsive and when they are too intense and above the norm and interfere with normal living causing too great a disruption in daily behavior then the anxieties are considered to be disorders by the psychiatric profession and subject to medication with the use of powerful artificial sedatives.

These artificial sedatives have bad side effects and going off them can create more intense fears than before medication because they change the normal chemical balance of the brain. Rather than curing a fictional chemical imbalance the drugs create an real chemical imbalance in the brain which then requires further treatment of the side effects with more medication or drugs.

All extreme predictable and frequent anxieties are phobias and they should be treated with radical behavior modification which unfortunately takes too long and costs too much money and is unfortunately not a realistic alternative for most humans.

A panic attack or panic disorder is when there is a sudden and frequent very intense fear which is frequently associated with physiological changes such as sweating, chest pain, very intense or irregular palpitations, and choking sensations.  Because of the suddenness of the very intense fear many times neither the psychiatrist nor the patient is aware of the triggering mechanism in the environment and make the wrong assumption that the fear has no cause which can be eliminated from the patient’s life or that the patient should in fact be desensitized to the stimulus through radical behavior modification which takes much time and money to cure.

A social phobia is a very intense fear of being judged by others, fear of embarrassment or ridicule and is a reason why some humans choose to live relatively reclusive lives because they have an intense fear of other humans and their potential disapproval reactions. Once again radical behavior modification which takes much time and money is the cure and quick fix strong artificial sedatives frequently make the situation only worse in the long duration.

Going through a very intense fearful event such as the unexpected death of a loved one, a natural devastating disaster, or a physical or sexual assault may leave one with frightening thoughts and memories of the fearful event(s) which may surface very frequently and reduce normal functioning. Some of these very fearful events can almost kill a mental motivation to live and function normally. Psychiatric artificial drugs are not the cure but part of the problem. Creating hope in the patient that they can work and return to normal if they try and human caring and empathy are the cure.

General anxiety disorder is worry and fear when no external stimulus seems to provoke the bad response but there is a triggering mechanism and that is numerous spontaneous memories of very intense fears that can’t be consciously identified one by one. The very intense fear or worry is the impulsive actions  or recall of the brain without conscious associations with the actual very intense fearful events or memories.

The remaining phobias are very intense fears of things which can be identified and which can be cured by gradual exposure techniques which take much time and money. Most can’t afford the cure so they are disastrously medicated with powerful psychiatric artificial sedatives instead.

Finally uncertainty can cause worry and fear that a goal will not be achieved but there is frequently no phobia of uncertainty and there should be!!!!!!

THE TRUTH ABOUT COURAGE

courage

Courage: n. continuing to pursue a goal(s) when the odds are against you and/or when the pursuit of the goal(s) is filled with danger.

Confidence: n. freedom from most doubt when trying to achieve something and this frequently exists with a large belief in oneself and in one’s abilities

Courage in battle when the odds of surviving with your life are against you is seldom demonstrated in a relatively peaceful world but there are times when courage still plays a role in real life.

An entrepreneur starting a new business and competing with established big ones takes much courage and confidence which are both needed to persevere and make a young business a possible success.

Some extreme sports filled with danger such as rock climbing and firefighting sometimes require much courage.

To a lesser extent courage is required to continue playing a sport when you have fallen behind in points and have a relatively large deficit to make up to win.

To some extent it takes courage to try to make a marriage work out when you seem to be arguing about almost everything, have offspring to take care of, and when your finances are in terrible shape and you are stuck in a shitty job which you can’t quit right away. Persevering under those circumstances frequently takes courage and many take the easy way out and get a divorce.

It takes courage to fight against a terminal illness or a very incapacitating accident when the odds of surviving are against you but there is some glimmer of hope that you may survive or overcome your incapacity.

It frequently takes much courage and determination to fight against a very bad habit or addiction and succeed in excluding it from your life.

It takes courage to live on optimistically after you have lost your most loved possessions such as your spouse and offspring to a terrible accident or crime.

It takes courage to try again after hundreds of failures at reaching a goal without success. Some may call this misguided stupidity but for some inventors the hundred and first try is sometimes a success which makes all the failure worth while.

Finally it takes courage to speak in public for the first time or to ask someone out on a date who has rejected you before or whom you fear will reject you.

THE TRUTH ABOUT FEAR

FEAR

Fear: v. to sense very intense bad sensations which are caused by (very little security and/or a threat by a large imminent danger) and/or caused when in much potentially deadly pain

One of the most basic emotions is fear of something whether it is a fear of death, fear of humans, animals, plants, objects, or fear of dangerous events or experiences. Name almost anything in this world and you will probably find someone with a phobia for it or an extreme fear of it.

Some humans worry too much because they are so afraid that something bad will happen. To minimize worrying in your life try to worry about the truly important things in your life which can go wrong and don’t spend too much time worrying about the little things which may affect your life in a bad way.

If you probe what motivates humans then you will frequently find that the reason that they are behaving a certain way or not behaving a certain way is because of an overt or subconscious fear of something.

Humans fear death, fear the pain of physical injury, and fear mental embarrassment when our ego is challenged or assaulted. Not only do we fear bullies and dangerous plants and animals but we fear social embarrassment and making mistakes in public or on dates which sometimes gives us much mental stress or a fear of communicating freely.

Humans are afraid of trying new foods because of an inborn fear of being poisoned so there are relatively few humans who are adventurous in their choices of new foods to eat.

Humans are afraid of losing their jobs, some are afraid of losing their spouses, and some are afraid of losing their houses or cars if they are not insured.

Many humans are afraid of disease or sickness and take out medical insurance to calm those fears. Some try to supplement their diet with miracle supplements or foods which theoretically will prevent cancer, diabetes, heart disease, and other illnesses which they fear.

Humans are afraid of crime and natural disasters such as hurricanes and tornadoes. Businesses and government fear crime and surveillance cameras are everywhere.

Some religious humans fear eternal punishment after death if they behave immorally and humans frequently fear others who do not have the same beliefs or opinions about the world.

Many humans traumatized by other humans too frequently and a series of important failures in life sometimes withdraw from new experiences and choose to live in their dysfunctional lifestyles filled with bad habits and an absence of optimism which sometimes results in depression.

In general many humans are afraid to try something new because of a fear of failure which is frequently blamed on being lazy instead.

Finally, many humans set unrealistic goals for themselves and fail because of it and this creates fears of trying something new and feelings of inadequacy.

The solution is to make new realistic goals which you can achieve and this will help you to gradually move out of your shell like existence in life which fears change and infrequently ventures forth to live life to the fullest.

CONCLUSION:

Leading a successful life frequently means moving forward with optimism and determination and leaving behind the many FEARS of failure which haunt many humans and are impediments to human progress and happiness.

What things do I subconsciously fear? If you successfully answer this question yourself or with the help of someone then you may be able to overcome the subconscious fears and liberate yourself to live life more fully.
