THE TRUTH ABOUT IMPEDE*

Impede: v. to temporarily and sometimes permanently delay a subset’s goal(s) with an indirect different subset(s) and/or with a direct personal action(s)

You can impede something directly yourself and you can indirectly get others to do the impeding for you. In the case of controlled machines and/or robots those are indirect forms of impeding although you will get blamed for the impeding, especially if it is an undesirable imposition and/or impediment.

THE TRUTH ABOUT INTERVENTION*

images

Intervention: n. interacting with a subset(s) trying to (help it focus and/or achieve its goal(s) more efficiently) and/or to ((change and/or delay) and/or stop) samer subset(s)

Many interventions are done to change and/or delay and/or stop something which needs change, needs to be delayed, or must be stopped.

Interventions are also done to help humans to focus and/or achieve their goal(s) efficiently.

With machines interventions are frequently done to repair them or make them more efficient so that they can perform their function(s) or goal(s) with optimum functionality.

THE TRUTH ABOUT DESERVING***

timthumb

Deserve: v. to earn a punishment(s) and/or a reward(s) for some behavior(s) but sometimes not getting it completely and/or getting it with some delay

In an ideal world we should be instantly rewarded for doing something good and instantly punished for doing something bad. In the real world we may get a token reward or token punishment or get no reward and no punishment. Sometimes in the real world we may have to do many good things or many bad things before we get the reward or punishment or in effect there is a time delay in getting what we deserve.

Especially in human relationships it may take much time before you develop a good reputation by being honest, sincere, dependable, friendly, competent, and trustworthy. Only after a history of being moral, competent, and nice will humans begin to patronize you and say good things about you which will bring you the rewards which you deserve or hoped for.

Hard work and being nice is not always rewarded as we expect and this can sometimes lead to disappointment and unhappiness. The smart employer gives workers the praise and attention which they deserve and compensates them financially for the good work which they do.

You may feel that you deserve more out of life than what you are getting but remember that it usually takes time to develop a good work history and good relationships with others so don’t expect instant success at work or with humans as a young adult. You need time to develop a good reputation and good work history which humans will begin to respect and start giving you some of the things which you justly deserve.

THE TRUTH ABOUT EXCUSES***

NoMoreExcuses1

Excuse: v. to attempt to (delay and/or escape) and/or avoid a subset(s) and/or to attempt to subtract blame for an (unfulfilled promise and/or mistake) and/or offense and trying to defend and/or justify the action(s) and/or inaction(s) with a real valid reason and/or lie

We are frequently tempted to make excuses when we

don’t want to do something or want to escape it,

want to delay something,

want to avoid something,

don’t fulfill a promise,

make a mistake which we would want to hide, and

do something offensive or bad which we are ashamed of.

Sometimes excuses are believable and true such as being late because you got stuck in city traffic but some excuses are actually lies designed to be believable but in fact are not factual. Not attending an important event may be accompanied by a lie that you were too busy with other important priorities and could not attend.

You can get somewhat talented at making untrue excuses over time and turn into a compulsive liar which is not good for your good reputation once you get caught in a lying excuse as you inevitably will be given enough time.

Even if no one catches you in a lying excuse, humans tend to eventually avoid or disrespect humans who are constantly coming up with excuses for not doing something, making mistakes, not fulfilling promises, and behaving badly.

Instead of making excuses say no politely if you don’t want to do something, learn from your mistakes and don’t make them again, don’t make promises which you don’t intend to keep, and try to eliminate or greatly reduce your bad behaviors. Have the selfcontrol and determination to change your behavior so that excuses are no longer necessary in your life. Humans will respect you more and your own sense of selfworth will improve.

Real reasons may sound like an excuse but honest answers should be given whenever possible. I don’t want to waste my time, it is too expensive, sorry no, I am not interested, I don’t believe in doing that, my family or I disapprove of it, I will try not to make the mistake again, it won’t happen again, I shouldn’t have done that, and finally simply “I don’t want or like to do that”.

It is human nature to want to try to reduce the severity of a failed promise, mistake, offense, immorality, or bad behavior by defending your action(s) or trying to justify it with mitigating circumstances. You are making a mistake if you try to lie your way out of a situation because you will be accused of deceit or lying and your reputation will end up in the toilet.

Some excuses are justified because you may have been late due to real reasons such as traffic congestion or spending more time at an important meeting than anticipated but making excuses for too many shortcomings can be habit forming and you can start making creative wrong excuses for things which are inexcusable.

If you are making too many failed promises, too many mistakes, are guilty of bad behavior or even immorality then don’t make excuses but do your best to change yourself and don’t make the mistakes, don’t behave badly, and don’t do immoral things. Your good reputation, especially with humans closest to you, can be severely damaged and trusting relationships will no longer be possible.

To minimize your excuses remember this-DON’T MAKE PROMISES WHICH YOU DON’T INTEND TO KEEP!!! It is a form of lying and no one will respect you if you don’t fulfill your promises or don’t follow through with them.

Excuses, excuses, excuses! Not a good pattern for your life and you will live to regret it in the long duration if you make too many excuses.

THE TRUTH ABOUT PATIENCE

images

Modern society is very impatient. We want our food fast, we want fast money, fast conversation, fast relationships, fast entertainment, fast education, some want fast cars, and many want fast solutions to problems in life.

The result is a narcissistic feel good culture wanting instant gratification in almost everything. If we quickly don’t get what we want then we try to escape our felt confinement with addictive drugs or happy pills and easily succumb to other addictive behaviors such as pornography, impulsive shopping, gambling, and over eating.

Many of us don’t realize that selfcontrol and patiently working and planning ahead to reach worthwhile goals in life is much more important than living an impulsive largely irrational daily existence where one day is pretty much the same as the other day and no substantial progress is made.

Fewer and fewer take time out from the rat race to really analyze and think about the life which we are living and may actually want to live in the future.

Patience is not a virtue if you are just lounging around not doing much or just engaging in mostly trivial pleasure seeking pursuits. Patience is a virtue if you are using that time wisely to pursue your long duration goals as well as some short duration goals. Patiently working to get what you most value in life is the true key to successful and happy living in the long duration.

If you are not patiently learning new skills and new knowledge then you will probably be stuck in your rut on into the foreseeable future until some crisis happens in your life which makes you think about and maybe change your largely dysfunctional lifestyle of impulsive impatience.

I am not advocating that you patiently wait for good things to happen in your life. I am advocating that you patiently work and do things to increase the probability that good things will happen in your life not only in the short duration but also in the long duration.

Patience: n. a willingness to endure (suffering and/or provocation) and/or (delay and/or tediousness) and/or (incompetence and/or partence) and/or (doing with composure and/or doing with selfcontrol when trying to achieve a goal(s))

Partence: n. using up much time trying to achieve a goal(s)
