THE TRUTH ABOUT ECCENTRIC*

Eccentric_Logo

Eccentric: adj. a human deviating greatly from some social norms but not judged to be mentally ill and/or a serious threat to society

Eccentrics are interesting humans who don’t fit into all the accepted social norms yet still manage to survive successfully in their own personal lifestyles. Eccentricity can be a drawback if you are in a leadership position where normal behavior is expected and respected.

For one with a steady job and rather minimal social interaction eccentricity is a welcome change from the mundane boring existence of most humans who follow the normative crowd. Sometimes eccentrics are revolutionary figures blazing new trails for acceptable human behavior and others remain social misfits who live out their independent lives without making any significant impact on society in the long duration.

THE TRUTH ABOUT INACCURACY*

quote-accuracy-is-the-twin-brother-of-honesty-inaccuracy-of-dishonesty-nathaniel-hawthorne-81312

Inaccuracy: n. deviating much from a subset(s)

If your goal is to work at management level in a prestigious company and you only land a job as an office clerk with the company then you are using a highly inaccurate approach. Missing your target or goal by a few centimeters may not be your personal fault but missing your target or goal by a meter is largely your own fault.

Relatively few humans are so talented or so knowledgeable, skilled, and educated that they can reach their primary goal on first try. Many more go through many trying, disappointing, or setback experiences in life before success and most have to start somewhere near the bottom and work their way up to a successful prestigious career and/or leadership position.

An attempt at accurate communication implies honesty and using inaccurate communication sometimes implies some possible deception or dishonesty.

THE TRUTH ABOUT STANDARD+

standards_logo-backgroundalpha

Standard: n. a subset(s) considered by an authority or a consensus as a basis of comparison such as (a position on a scale and/or a certain measure) and/or (a principle and/or a model) and/or (a behavioral norm and/or an acceptable deviation) and/or a constant deviation from a subset(s)

Standards are made so that we can judge the excellence or perfection of something.

If you do something trying to be excellent or perfect then the standards will determine whether you have been successful or have come within acceptable limits of performance.

Perfection is frequently the absolute standard which few if any are capable of but it is used to measure human, plant, animal, and robotic performance.

How far from the standard your performance is determines whether it is acceptable or unacceptable and needs improvement.

Test standards are the most common ones which most of us come into contact with when we compare our performance to that of others. Who can run the fastest or throw the furthest is a measure of athletic skill but today mental skill is increasingly more important in determining the success or failure of a human in a technological society.

Reliability, durability, efficiency, ease of repair, ease of use, and beauty are standards used to judge the value of objects such as mechanical and electronic devices.

Beauty and human behavior are very subjective standards and they probably are the only ones which can’t be made into an absolute standard which will meet the test of time unchanged.

THE TRUTH ABOUT UNACCEPTABLE*

ken-carson-quote-this-behavior-is-completely-unacceptable

Unacceptable: adj. judged to be (bad and/or wrong) and/or not within an acceptable limit(s) and/or deviation(s)

Something which is rejected in one way of looking at unacceptable. You can personally reject something, an authority figure can reject something and the rejection has more clout, or a group(s) of individuals can reject something and make it unacceptable.

Rejection may be done merely because one does not like something or it can be rejected based on some normative and/or absolute standard which it is compared to and judged accordingly.
