INEFFICIENCY IS USUALLY IMMORAL IN NATURE!!!

Science has and is studying nature and has come up with a mathematical definition for efficiency. Science has shown how efficient lifeforms survive in greater numbers and succeed in reproducing for the benefit of future generations. Wilderness and wildlife is extremely efficient and remarkably does so in a non polluting sustainable way.

Now it is time to apply as much of this efficiency as possible to the human condition or behavior which is generally very inefficient, very polluting also, and not sustainable in the long duration. My primary focus will be the efficiency of human behavior but I will momentarily digress to show the role that efficiency plays in wild nature.

Without getting mathematical I will try to explain the fundamental principles of human efficiency and hope that this will eventually convince you that human efficiency is a very desirable and even a moral necessity. If you are WASTING time and energy and often money also in the pursuit of a just goal(s) then you are being inefficient.

For humans wasting time and energy in the process of achieving a goal(s) morally is being inefficient. Notice that the goal which you are trying to achieve is a very important consideration because some goals require little energy and some goals require much energy in a short duration.

Using predators as an example, cheetahs spend much time using up very little energy while stalking their prey but put on a tremendous burst of energy in a short duration when they commit to catching prey, the goal. When the goal is to stalk prey you can erroneously conclude that the cheetah is wasting time but the truth is that it is not wasting but conserving energy which it needs to catch prey in sudden bursts of energy expenditure. The goal is to catch the prey and if the cheetah is very inefficient it will fail at catching prey too many times, waste much energy, and ultimately risk starvation and death.

Why do I say that inefficiency is USUALLY immoral in nature. Well, if the predator is super efficient then the possibility that he will catch and eat all the prey may lead to starvation and death also since there is no more prey to hunt. That is why most predators are not super efficient or catch and kill ALL the prey that they hunt for.

For humans becoming an adult and making good money in some profession is a laudable goal. Many have spent little time and energy acquiring a useful education which includes important subjects for the technological world such as math, science, and economics. Many have taken the easy way out by taking subjects which don’t require much time and energy or effort and find themselves with college degrees which are job poor and with so few sellable skills that they wind up working in starter jobs at minimum wage.

For humans useful goals are the most important and if you don’t consider yourself academic material because of insufficient ability then a vocation is a more practical and logical choice to try and achieve.

Before launching into a comprehensive discussion of the immorality of inefficiency it is important to address one major objection and that is that there are efficient moral humans and efficient immoral humans and criminals. You could argue that efficiency is amoral and applies equally to all kinds of humans. An efficient criminal will get away with his or her stealing and lying more often than an inefficient criminal who will more readily get caught and punished. An efficient moral human will succeed much better in having a good family, good friends,  earning a good reputation, and gaining better social status than a moral but inefficient human.

Efficiency is really the morality of NATURE and whether you are predator or criminal OR prey or law abiding moral human, if you are inefficient then you will be punished in some way in the long duration. So efficiency is a universal morality for all lifeforms on the surface of this earth. The efficient will be rewarded most of the time and the inefficient will be punished sooner or later most of the time.

For human behavior, making too many of the same mistakes over and over again, talking too much or being verbose, spending too much money and time on relatively trivial pursuits such as games and compulsive shopping, watching too much mindless TV, arguing instead of discussing, procrastinating, not being punctual, incompetence, spending too much time and energy on bad habits such as gambling, pornography, promiscuity, drugs, alcoholism, gluttony, lust, etc., and all these human behaviors have an inefficiency component which I consider immoral and which most current moral humans consider bad behavior most of the time.

The goal(s) that you are trying to achieve and the means used are very important when considering the immorality of inefficiency. If your goal is to make money then there is the moral and immoral way of doing it. If you lie and steal efficiently, both immoral acts most of the time, to get money, then you don’t seem bad from the efficiency standpoint but you are using immoral means since you are lying and stealing which is of primary importance and considered bad.

Yes, efficiency is not a good or bad behavior but depends on the means used to achieve a goal also. It is the age old question of whether the ends justify the means. In times of peace to maintain social order and peaceful interaction between humans it is not wise to permit lying and stealing which leads to social chaos in the long duration if accepted or permitted.

Gambling is bad for most humans because it is an inefficient use of money which they usually end up losing. However, risk taking is a form of gambling by entrepreneurs and is vital for progress to be made in society. If your goal is to make money via a new business venture then it is usually moral to do so and if you are efficient then you should make a profit if the investment is a sound one and you provide a service or product which customers need or desire.

Morality is a rather complex issue to discuss and what we have so far established is that it is a moral behavior if the means to get to a goal(s) is a moral process and the goal(s) itself is socially desirable. Finally, it is even a better or more moral outcome if it is done efficiently.

You can be a very moral or outstanding human but if you do so inefficiently then you are immoral to some degree although not chronically immoral. So for all those thinking that they are morally flawless or impeccable, if you are inefficient then you still are not a perfectly moral human, especially according to nature.

THE ULTIMATE IDEOCRASY WHICH SHOULD RULE OVER ALL IDEOLOGIES.

Ideocrasy: n. rule and/or government based on ideology and/or theory

Whether you are talking about Democracy, Republicanism, Socialism, Communism, Clericism, etc. none will survive in the long duration if it is not ruled by a just morality from which most laws should be deduced and improved upon.

Yes, there will always be the question of individual rights versus majority or collective rights and the often ignored importance of quality over quantity in the long duration but there should be an ultimate ideocrasy or morality which should be taught to all impressionable young minds in any nation or system of government.

When offspring become adults they will realize that any system is not just for everyone and needs improvement. There should be some semblance of certainty as to what is right or wrong so the system can continue to prosper with relative security and peaceful interactions between humans of any nation and across political borders. What ensures this stability, justice, and peaceful interactions? A worldwide just moral code or idiocrasy backed up by just laws which get more just with time and not more unjust or more immoral with time.

A child should understand that it is OK to say in a critical way “you lied to me or you stole from me and that is immoral”. Yes, when the child becomes an adult he or she will realize that the government steals in the form of taxation for the theoretical greater good and there are some emergency situations where stealing and lying can be justified. The adult will realize that society is filled with deceptions and untruths but hopefully a childish sense of justice will prevail and the adult will mostly seek out honest, moral, sincere, dependable, trustworthy, competent humans to associate with the most.

That said the ultimate ideocrasy or morality for the modern age is- in non emergency situations- don’t destroy biodiversity, don’t lie, don’t be inefficient, don’t steal, don’t commit adultery if married, and don’t murder.

WHAT IS MORE EFFICIENT? A BORDER PATROL, A WALL, OR THE NATIONAL GUARD?

The fundamental question is how do you prevent illegal aliens from crossing a border in the most efficient way?

Any wall or hard to trespass fence could act as a deterrent to easy border crossings but at a considerable initial cost. You would still need a reduced border patrol patrolling or drones patrolling the border to look for breaches in the wall or fence.

The national guard can detect and bring border crossers to detention centers where they can be interrogated or processed and transported back over the border. This just means a temporary increase in the size of the border patrol and a costlier way of keeping the border secure.

Whether a wall or fence is built there will still be a need for human or drone vigilance along the border when the wall or fence is breached.

The most efficient system would be a drone patrol along the border and a sizable border patrol to ensure that no one gets across the border illegally. Yes, this will take money and an investment in new technology.

In the short run and long run some border structure will have to be built but a sufficient border patrol will have to be financed to maintain border integrity. A better barrier will mean a smaller border patrol but ultimately one can’t get away from the basic fact that humans will ultimately be in charge of maintaining border security and that means some kind of a barrier and manpower and drone power and maybe even satellite surveillance in the long duration.

A MODERN SECULAR MORALITY: THE ANSWER TO MOST ETHICAL PROBLEMS!!!

The modern secular morality or code is- in nonemergency situations- don’t destroy biodiversity, don’t lie, don’t be inefficient, don’t steal, don’t commit adultery if married, and don’t murder.

Nature is very efficient, but you may wonder why efficiency is stated as a moral imperative and so here are a few examples where it should be applied as a moral or ethical principle.

If you want a good service from anyone then you expect them to be honest with you and you want the service to be done efficiently or at minimum cost in terms of money and time.

If it is a car mechanic then you don’t want him to lie to you but you also want him to be efficient or repair the car as soon as possible, at minimum cost, and competently with good value in the short and long duration.

There is short duration efficiency and long duration efficiency which includes concepts such as quality, durability, and reliability. The question to ask is do you want long duration efficiency or short duration efficiency or medium range efficiency at a reasonable cost? In effect the cheapest price or cost may not be the best price or cost for the long or medium duration.

If it is a medical doctor then you want him to cure you if possible and minimize any pain if there is no cure. You want him to be honest with you but you also want him to do so efficiently by doing a competent job in the least amount of time and at minimum cost to you. If the doctor is trying to hook you on addictive pills with bad side effects just to get you as a permanent customer then he is not doing his job efficiently from your point of view.

If you are a defendant then a lawyer should defend you if you are not guilty and try to minimize the punishment for you if you are guilty. He should not lie to you and he should do so efficiently in the shortest amount of time possible and at minimum cost to you if he is a competent lawyer.

In your personal life if you talk too much, watch too much entertainment, listen to too much music, eat too much, drink too much, argue too much, gamble too much, shop too much, etc. then you are not being very efficient and you probably have severe moral efficiency flaws in your character or personality. You are wasting your valuable time, energy, and money by being inefficient and sometimes grossly so.

You might perhaps be tempted to say that stealing is more efficient than earning the money to buy it but that is why there are six secular moral code principles and not just one. Don’t steal is another ethical or moral principle which overrides the efficiency principle so that criminality is not rewarded.

Yes, there are also efficient liars and murderers and they tend to get away with lying and murdering more often than other incompetent liars and murderers. But once again that is why the moral code has don’t lie and don’t murder as a sign of morality or good behavior and these override the efficiency principle which is nature’s golden rule since murdering predators are vital in the overall balance of nature.

Efficiency in it’s purest sense is amoral since it is a principle applicable to good and bad goals and/or behaviors and hopefully collective humanity will continue to apply efficiency to the good rather than the bad goals and/or behaviors.

Efficient humans and organizations such as businesses survive more often than the inefficient ones so efficiency in the pursuit of good is a virtue or a good value to have.

How can you justify turning a basically amoral principle into a moral one? Because it is time to include scientific knowledge about efficiency so fundamental to nature as a major consideration in all our behaviors. If we continue to ignore efficiency in moral or ethical questions then we do so at our peril in the long duration and nature will severely punish human civilization for being grossly inefficient.

There are inefficient humans, governments, educational systems, businesses, organizations, professions, etc. and very few of them are respected and admired by many humans which is as it should be. It is time to discipline all these entities and make them function more efficiently at a great cost savings to all contributors and recipients.

WHAT DOES BEING SMART REALLY MEAN???

THE TRUTH ABOUT EFFICACY!!!

maxresdefault

Efficacy: n. having ability to produce a desired and/or intended goal(s)

Efficiency: n. a minimum of matter and/or energy per unit time used to achieve a goal(s)

Efficacy is the ability to produce a desired and/or intended goal(s) or result(s) and efficiency is a measure of how well you can do so. Hopefully you have reached your goal(s) in the least amount of time with the least amount of materials and lifeform(s) effort which determines how efficient you have been.

Even if you are not very efficient you can be efficacious and produce a desired goal(s) or result(s) being a little wasteful with time and/or materials and/or lifeform(s) effort.
