THE TRUTH ABOUT EUPHEMISM

maxresdefault-17

Euphemism: n. using an emotionally less intense word with the same basic meaning

When you use passed away instead of died then you are using a euphemism for death which is not as shocking emotionally. Using downsizing to describe job firings is another example of using a euphemism which is not as emotionally intense.

THE TRUTH ABOUT FRANTIC*

frantic_t

Frantic: adj. sensing very intense urgent upsetting emotion(s) and the corresponding behavior(s)

It was a frantic attempt at saving his life signifies an emotionally upsetting event with very intense urgency. We usually don’t say frantic joy or happiness but can say frenzied joy or happiness since the emotion is pleasurable and not unpleasurable the way that upsetting emotions are. You can get frantic when experiencing very intense unpleasant emotions and there is a sense of urgency.

THE TRUTH ABOUT OBJECTIVE+

images

Objective: adj. reasoning unchanged by emotion and/or personal opinion and based primarily on viewed facts and/or on the use of the scientific method

Objectivity in human interactions is the ideal but the reality is that subjective judgements are rampant in a liberal arts society which tries to impose social norms on humans which are seldom based on reasoned logical assessments about reality.

Social and political correctness dominates society and if you logically disagree then you are frequently confronted with ridicule, put downs, insults, name calling, and harsh criticism to get you to conform to the powerful subjective status quo social and political norms.

THE TRUTH ABOUT SUBJECTIVE+

TruthisNotSubjective

Subjective: n. a judgment made which is mostly based on emotion and personal opinion without much attention given to the facts and objective reasoning

The liberal arts professions are filled with subjective judgments which makes promotion based on merit a remote possibility because who you know and who you follow is often more important than what you know and how truthful it is.

Political correctness and the mass media which promotes it are filled with subjectivity and there is little hope that this will change for the better in the near future.

Escaping subjectivity is the role few humans are willing to pursue even though the technological revolution and scientific discoveries are breaking down historical subjectivity at an increasing pace.

I am one of the few rare humans who is trying to whittle away at the seemingly impenetrable wall of human subjectivity with the truth!!!

THE TRUTH ABOUT EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE+

eicollege3

Emotional intelligence: n. the ability to accurately assess a human’s emotional circumstance and to proceed to communicate appropriately and/or to motivate samer human to achieve a goal(s)

Emotional intelligence is the new buzzword being used to talk about a human’s ability to assess another’s emotional circumstance and communicate appropriately without getting into arguments or severe disagreements. It is frequently seen as an advantage for leaders who are trying to motivate their workforce into doing a good job and basically maintaining a good esprit de corps. Emotional intelligence should really be called emotional smarts or ES because it is largely an acquired skill and not inborn that much.

Sometimes the smartest thing to do is just let a very angry and annoyed human calm down before starting a conversation with them. At other times it is smart to try and diffuse the anger with appropriate words which register a certain amount of empathy but communicate a need to proceed quickly to do something about a bad situation despite very bad feelings about it. “I feel your pain, suffering, or anger but we must move on despite it.”  This generally summarizes the tactic needed to resolve emotional distress, especially in the work place.

The emotionally intelligent just like intelligent humans usually have a good memory for names and events, especially those relevant to a human. They can sometimes draw on these past events and use them in handling a touchy present situation. “Remember a similar situation which arose in the past where you had the same basic problem and we resolved it?”

This kind of historical memory helps to custom fit a potential dispute and diffuse a problem without the need for lengthy discussion starting from scratch. Humans like to feel that you care about them and if you bring up past events in their lives then this shows that you have been empathetic and caring in the past and are probably only wanting to help them in their current state of distress.

Emotional intelligence or emotional memory is partly inborn but it can also be an acquired trait to a large extent with exposure to humans of all types and many social experiences with diverse personalities.

During a job interview many employers go with their “gut” feeling which basically means that they are impulsively judging you based on appearance, gestures or body language, speech mannerisms, and conversational ability.

Being able to discuss job related issues almost flawlessly is also important but your optimistic attitude and the way that you present yourself during the interview play a major role in the ultimate decision making process. You basically have to come across as a likable human in addition to what your actual expertise may be in the job which you are applying for.

If a leader is not charismatic he or she may still have a good reputation among employees by being honest, sincere, dependable, competent, friendly, and trustworthy. It is far easier to communicate with employees or a significant other if they basically respect you and maybe even admire you to some extent.

Being emotionally intelligent about yourself is also frequently ignored as a desirable trait to have. If you are very angry and annoyed then that may not be the best time for you to enter a conversation with someone else. Being calm, cool, or collected is just a way of saying that you should be smart and seldom vent your anger and disappointment at others unless you then proceed to solve any problem or problems which may have caused you that emotional distress in the first place.

Having emotional intelligence should make most of your communications with close relationships successful but a very important aspect of emotional intelligence is giving appropriate praise when earned. Human’s like to feel good about themselves and if you appropriately praise or reward them for their successful efforts then you will go a long way towards motivating them to proceed to even more or greater achievements.

Exaggerated praise or rewards are inappropriate in the long duration and you should try to develop a sense of justice which is a measured and appropriate reward or punishment which of course is frequently in verbal form and not necessarily always physical such as granting a privilege or denying it.

Emotional intelligence is very useful in everyday relationships with humans, especially the ones closest to you. To have a complete discussion of the emotional intelligence of a leader you must include a discussion of leadership skills in general which are never exclusively emotional in character.

Emotional intelligence is really a very complex and detailed subject which includes all the emotional states or circumstances that a human can be in. To intuitively and accurately guess what emotional state or circumstance a human is in is only successful in some cases with spouses which you have interacted with or have known for many years.

In general the smartest thing to do is to ask a person what emotional state they are in with a question. “How do you feel now? or How do you feel about that? They may still try to hide their emotional state from you with hedging or evasive tactics but in most cases you will much more accurately find out how one really feels by asking them. Get more certainty about someone’s emotional circumstance and you can then proceed accordingly with hopefully better conversational and situational results.

IQ and EQ stand for intelligence quotient and emotional quotient and the most desirable leaders are the ones with much EQ since IQ can be considered to be the tip of the iceberg which shows or is known and EQ is the vast bulk of the iceberg below the water line which doesn’t show or is usually unknown. This is an analogy which just states that EQ is a much more desirable characteristic than IQ to have in leaders.

EQ is a function of all the good and bad experiences which you have had in your life with other humans and how well you remember those experiences intuitively and is not easily quantifiable whereas IQ is more quantifiable and is basically a measure of how good your memory is for book knowledge.

EQ is a much more impulsive or intuitive ability whereas IQ frequently requires more thinking ability and less impulsiveness. Nevertheless in many cases intuition or impulsiveness are still major characteristics for both EQ and IQ.

THE TRUTH ABOUT MEDITATION***

Benefits-of-meditation-2

Meditation: n. thinking without anxiety and/or emotion

Some meditation is primitive or minimal thinking such as concentrating on breathing in and out or visualizing a peaceful landscape and little else. This meditation can be helpful if you are very stressed and emotionally keyed up and it can help you to relax.

However, meditation can also be quietly thinking about a subject without anxiety and/or emotion. If you have had an unpleasant confrontation or have a difficult problem to solve then calmly thinking about it in your spare time can frequently lead to a better understanding of the situation and the meditation can actually lead to a beneficial future solution.

The best meditation is meditation with a purpose. Meditation can be to calm you emotionally and/or it can be to solve problems. If you learn or succeed in meditating then not only will you calm yourself down when needed but you may actually find solutions to problems in your life too.

THE TRUTH ABOUT EXAGGERATION

images

Exaggeration: n. adding untruths to truths in a communication

In a highly emotional society exaggeration is commonplace. We say things are beautiful, great, wonderful, lovely, and super when they don’t deserve that lofty status.

Parents frequently exaggerate the praise given to offspring and the result is that the offspring develop an overly high, unrealistic appraisal of their selfworth, abilities, and competence.

Advertisers exaggerate the desirability of their products and frequently we are disappointed by the reality.

Exaggerations about yourself may make you feel more important than you actually are but it is self delusion which few humans will be convinced of in the long duration.

Exaggeration is emotional and factual BS so don’t do it if you want to maintain a reputation for honesty and want to be respected for your opinion.

THE TRUTH ABOUT EMOTION

????????????????????????????????????????????????????

Emotion: n. a very intense mental and/or brain sensation and/or the behaviors which exist with samer sensation

We are a human species very susceptible to emotional flare ups which come and go with various degrees of intensity of primarily fear, love, and hate. We fear that we will not survive physically and mentally with all our beliefs, opinions, and habitual behaviors and we are constantly trying to defend them largely impulsively and rarely rationally.

The language biases us in favor of a highly emotional existence rather than a logical one and until we change the way that we use language we will wallow in our emotional irrational biases. We intuitively feel that the conservation of our emotionally biased personal world view is vital to our physical and mental survival.

Intuition and impulsive behavior primarily guides most of our lives which is based on prior experiences with the environment and especially other humans with which we have interacted with in our past. Many of us are handicapped with less than perfect looks, mediocre memories, bad role models, mediocre education, and financially relatively poor resources.

Many of us are trapped with many bad habits and relatively bad relationships with other humans and we are emotionally conditioned to stay in our traps because our emotions frequently don’t sense a logical way out of our limiting predicament. Human competition is everywhere and we are constantly reminded by society that we are much less than ideal role models physically, educationally, mentally, and financially.

There are the relatively few in leadership positions and most of us are the gullible irrational brainwashed followers in an increasingly immoral human world which is rapidly destroying biodiversity and in the process threatening the long duration survival of humans on the face of this precious endangered planet.

A primary reason why humanity is so shitty is that an emotional language and emotional indoctrination is used to condition humans who then mostly behave irrationally in their lives almost randomly experimenting with life without seeing much purpose and not logically planning successful courses of action for their lives and setting good goals in life.

An emotional overdose of free expression is largely a western predicament because other parts of the world are still largely regimented with minimal freedom to let their emotions run wild in society but the emotions still trap them to live the limiting lives which they live.

The language needs a logical updating and young humans need to be indoctrinated with a secular moral code worldwide if this world has any hope of surviving into the distant future in a healthy, sane, peaceful, and environmentally sustainable way.

THE TRUTH ABOUT BOREDOM

106958-104597

You can get bored from having nothing to do, from doing something for too long, and from doing something too frequently.

Most offspring are not bored and frequently find something to do even though that something sometimes gets them into trouble.

Many young adults are stuck in boring jobs doing repetitive tasks over and over again and sometimes waiting a long time doing nothing while waiting for customers to come or call. It is one of the main reasons why so many of them don’t stay in one minimum wage job for very long but chose even the same job at a different location perhaps hoping that the next job won’t be as boring.

Those stuck in boring unsatisfying jobs frequently resort to alcohol and drugs as a form of escape from boredom or a boring life. The result is sometimes bad job performance, firing, or accidents on the job causing many to become dysfunctional members of society bringing on much depression and unhappiness in their lives.

Retirees have almost no work to do so they may become very bored but usually find something interesting to do which motivates them to live another day.

Some are hyper individuals and usually find something to do while others are lazy and prefer not to do much. Those who are hyper frequently have less of a tolerance for boredom than the lazy ones.

Finally if you are bored then start doing something different and your boredom will probably disappear for at least a little while until you get bored again.

After almost a year and a half of blogging on a daily basis I am starting to get bored because I am starting to repeat myself even though I have written about so many topics. I will try to write about something new or different but the truth about ____ as a theme is running low on ideas.

Of course one can always improve on something one has written so maybe I will just review some old topic and try to write about it in a more exciting interesting way which will be hard for me because my writing style is rather dry and logical. Maybe my next attempts will be inspirational instead of factual or informative writings only.

THE TRUTH ABOUT PASSION

always-be-passionate

Passion: n. mentally sensing very intensely with some difficulty maintaining control and the behaviors which exist with it

Pursue your passion is frequently the advice given to someone who wants to become successful or live a happy life.  This is a rather amoral way of looking at life because what may make you passionately happy may be something which will hurt you in the long duration. Some are passionate about sex, pornography, gambling, partying, drinking alcohol, and doing drugs which all can lead to rather dysfunctional lifestyles and even death in some cases of severe drug addictions.

The first rule to follow would be to pick your passions carefully because they are frequently addictive and you don’t want to become a slave to the bad passions which you may be pursuing.

Passions have number, intensity, frequency, and duration

Not everyone puts all their eggs into one basket or one passion. It is entirely possible to be passionate about more than one thing and it is even advisable to be passionate about more than one thing so that you have a backup plan B and maybe even C if plan A does not work out or you become dissatisfied with its pursuit.

I have been a physics teacher, a computer programmer and systems analyst, a builder, a mortgage investor, a remodeler, a landlord, and am currently writing much in my retirement years mostly based on the research into truth which I have done throughout a lifetime and am still doing now. My plan A, B, C, D and E didn’t last very long and I am currently engaged in plan F and G.

Few realize that achieving the goal of some passions requires inborn talent frequently accompanied by a very good memory and if you don’t have the talent and good memory then you are dreaming the impossible dream if you want to become president, a rocket scientist, doctor, celebrity, talk show monolith, sports star, or famous writer.

How passionate you are about something is determined by how emotionally satisfying it is, how frequently you engage in your passionate pursuit, and how long you spend in hours pursuing it. If you are passionate about your job then you love it, spend every day at it except maybe weekends, and you probably put in more than just 40 hours a week.

How long you totally spend on your passion depends on how long it lasts and continues to give you satisfaction. If you lose your job then you may be able to find a similar one and continue your passion or you may have to go into an entirely different line of work if your job becomes obsolete due to technological advances.

CONCLUSION:

Select you passions carefully and be realistic in your choices since exceptional success frequently requires talent and a very good memory. Passionately working hard at it alone will not be enough to reach that unrealistic idealized goal in life. If you are the average human then you should be passionate about the common things in life such as close friends, nice family, pleasant pastimes such as healthy eating and moderate exercise, and a job with a decent wage.

You will be much happier living a normal passionate life without the unrealistic delusions of grandeur which some humans are burdened with throughout a lifetime and the tragic series of failure which they suffer which is inevitable when you don’t have the ability necessary to reach lofty goals.
