SOME 29 INTERVIEW QUESTIONS YOU MAY BE ASKED!!!

Businesswomen are meeting and human resources interviewing in the company office

Tell me a little about yourself.

If you are trying to land your first full or part time job then you should start out by saying that you want a job which currently fits your qualifications and interests and then proceed to say what interests you about the job and give examples from your life so far which should qualify you for the position.

If you have a job history which is diverse without a unifying theme then state that the job is your current interest and why you would be qualified for it based on your current skill set derived from prior job experiences and acquired education which may be selfeducation.

If you have a job history in basically the same field of interest then you can state that the job will advance you in your field of interest as the next step towards your goals in the field of interest. You can also mention what your qualifications for the job position are.

Unless the employer specifically asks for personal details it is best to stay focused on landing the job and giving enough convincing evidence or arguments why you want the job and are qualified for it with real life examples, experiences, and activities.

How did you find out about this job?

Standard answers are the internet, employee of the company, friend or acquaintance, and personal interest.

What do you know about this company?

You can start off by saying it has a good reputation and probably a good place to work. Then after researching the company find out who owns it, who a happy employee might be, that you are interested in the information, products, and services sold or offered by the organization, and whether it is a growing company or a well established firm with a good public reputation.

Why do you want this job?

If you are an entry level assembly line worker then you can admit that you need the money but you should probably say that the job interests you and that you are qualified for it by giving real life examples from your past.

If it is not an entry level position then you can state that you are impressed by the good public reputation that the company has and that you think it will help your career development progress. Basically you are very interested in the company and you feel that you can contribute to it’s success with your qualifications and smart hard work.

What are you passionate about?

You should be passionate about your career choice which should include the job that you are applying for but you can also include some hobbies or non work pastimes which you are passionate about.

Why should we hire you?

You are very interested in the job and qualified for it. Give real life examples of your qualifications based on prior job experience, skills, education which may be self education, and people or social skills.

What are your strengths?

Smart hard worker, punctual, dependable, competent, friendly, empathetic, caring, attention to detail, etc.

What are your weaknesses?

Try not to specify your social weaknesses unless it is a statement that you wish you were a little more extroverted than introverted. I suppose you could also say that at times I am a little too serious and don’t find some things that funny. Give some relatively unimportant examples of this seriousness.

For a position as a sous chef you can simply say that you are not that good at filleting fish or that there is some skill that you want to be better at.

What is your greatest job achievement?

Choose a problem which needed a solution that you solved. Give an example of advice you gave your boss which was taken with satisfactory results. If a member of a team give an example of how your work contributed to a successful team effort. And if you managed a team or a department give an example of a successful team effort or a successful department partial or full reorganization effort.

What problem did you solve which needed solving?

What do you see yourself doing five years from now?

Hopefully it is doing something in the company which you will be working for but it could also be taking some time off to get some useful education to further your career.

What are your goals for the future?

What is your dream job?

Why are you leaving your current job?

Not challenging enough, no room for much advancement, and better salary are all valid answers. Try staying away from severely criticizing a former boss although a toxic work environment could be a valid reason if many employees were leaving because of a poorly managed work environment or some toxic individuals which were not fired and became a huge liability for the company.

Is there anything which makes you unique?

This question is rarely asked but if it is then you can say that you are a little different from other humans but will probably never be as unique as Michael Jackson or Einstein.

Have you gotten angry at work? What happened?

If you mostly work alone then you can pick an example of a time when you got angry at yourself for a mistake or not meeting a deadline.

What have you learned from your mistakes?

Don’t make too many of them or don’t make any serious mistakes or you can get into a lot of trouble with your boss.

What did you like most about your past position?

What did you like least about your past position?

Reasons for leaving the current job are probably also the things which you liked least about your past position.

Why were you fired?

Why did you quit your job?

Reasons for leaving the current job are probably also the things which you liked least about your past position and why you quit.

What’s your management style?

What’s a time when you disagreed with a decision made at work?

How would your boss and coworkers describe you?

Why was there a gap in your employment?

What do you like to do outside of work?

Do you plan to have children?

Do you prefer to work alone or on a team?

Give some examples of teamwork.

Finally, prepping for an interview is always good but remember to be yourself and answer as truthfully as possible and rather spontaneously. If you don’t know what to say or what to answer instantaneously then the best response is to say- I will have to think about this and answer later. This way your true personality will shine through and it should not be pretentious or contrived. If you try to hide a shitty personality and are unqualified for the job then chances are you will get fired from the job anyway sooner or later.

WHY THE GUARANTEED NATIONAL INCOME WILL WORK IN THE SHORT DURATION BUT NOT IN THE LONG DURATION!!!

The guaranteed national income is just a short duration welfare payment which will increase the national debt in the short duration but all the benefits of the initial stimulus will in the long duration lead to the same problems without a cure.

Yes, initially spending will increase in the nation and businesses both small and large will make greater profits and there will be more investment and expansion in the economy with more jobs and perhaps a slight increase in salaries.

In the long duration prices will increase and cause more inflation reducing the purchasing power of the extra income. In the long duration the purchasing power of the national income will become less and less and investment and jobs will decrease again to levels even lower than those at the outset. Even salaries may not increase but perhaps even decrease when businesses slow down again.

It would be much smarter to make small welfare payments to everyone on a yearly basis and gradually increase the welfare payments to keep pace with inflation so that the purchasing power of the dollar would remain constant and the stimulus to the economy would be constant year after year. Yes, the national debt will continue to increase and the economy will essentially be in a no growth mode again.

In the mean time big business will profit buying up more small businesses and putting them out of business and impacting the employment rate by making it higher.

The guaranteed national income just means that more humans will be on welfare often being non contributing members of society and parasites on the economy. There will be many more humans in poverty and the difference between the rich and poor will just be bigger with a continuing decreasing middle class.

Big business and robotization will put many humans out of work in the near future so you could argue that at least all the unemployed and destitute will be able to survive on a guaranteed national income adjusted to inflation on a yearly basis. Ultimately this may indeed be a compassionate solution in the modern age of little work for the unskilled and non usefully educated population. Since the welfare overhead is 70% for administrative fees for the current system, that money could be used instead to go directly to welfare recipients without the bureaucratic overhead.

My solution to the welfare problem is very different and has some strings attached so that the incentive to work is not totally eliminated. You can read my book CHANGES IN WELFARE LAWS to get an alternate viewpoint.

THE TRUTH ABOUT JOBS+

dreamstime_13281193

Historically jobs were plentiful but technology is devastating the job market. It is turning out that logical thinking brain power is more important than physical power and just the ability to speak a language fluently.

In Greece in 2015 the unemployment rate is 25% for adults and 50% for young adults. The educational system is a colossal failure and the traditional liberal arts education is turning out unskilled workers for the 21st century. Either students are not being taught right or the average worker is no longer capable of keeping up with the skill set necessary for permanent employment. Many entry level jobs are jobs which teenagers can do and are frankly insults to the intelligence of the average adult human.

It seems obvious that there is no long term solution to the problem which will just get worse with time. We will have to design a welfare system to take care of the unemployed and at the same time give them the opportunity of free online education in a technological field for those willing to put in the time, effort, and achievement to learn useful mental skills for the job market.

The whole concept of a classless society will have to be reassessed and I feel that the future will basically have two classes of citizens. The employed and the unemployed on welfare will be the two distinct classes and discrimination or different political rights will depend on which class that you are in.

To keep the welfare class from enslaving the working class with luxurious demands their voting privileges may have to be reduced so that they have less political power than the working class. The incentive to work and train for work must not disappear and it makes sense that the unemployed class should have a lower standard of living than the working class.

How do you become a member of the working class? You study hard and learn useful mental skills and through personal effort eventually qualify for a useful job and then regain full voting rights in society.

My evergreen truth books EDUCATION REFORM and CHANGES IN WELFARE LAWS detail the steps which will have to be taken to avoid the economic collapse of democratic societies in the near future if current problems are not successfully addressed in time.

THE TRUTH ABOUT CHILD LABOR+

india_child_labor

Historically and even now young children and teenagers work on farms and do hard labor. Today teenagers no longer work in most families and the result is that few know how to work or even want to work for a living. It is time to start employing teenagers in the workplace where they can not only get job experience but where they can learn about the work ethic.

Most schools no longer teach students useful work skills and it is high time to update child labor laws and make it possible for teenagers to work about 4 hours a day as cashiers, factory assembly line workers, urban farming, stock humans, deli workers, custodians, etc.

Yes, teenagers will compete with young adults in the work place but it will be a wake up call to those adults to get a good education or go back to school and get reeducated or spend the rest of their lives on welfare.

School hours can be shorted by at least 4 hours since education in most schools is very inefficient with many useless subjects are being taught. Specialty vans, bicycles, and scooters can be used to get students to and from work with the parent’s permission. The teenagers would start out at less than minimum wage unless they became so good that they deserved to get minimum wage for their efforts.

THE TRUTH ABOUT IMMIGRATION*

Immigration-jpg

Ideally a nation should let in the brightest, best, and educated without asking questions or any delay involved in the immigration process. Unfortunately the poor, uneducated, ballsy, and hopeless also want to immigrate to the wealthy countries and some will risk life and limb to accomplish that end.

Border integrity must be maintained as much as possible but it is inevitable that some will slip across the border and remain undetected for a considerable duration.

What do you do with these illegals? In the United States there are millions who crossed the border and are either working or on welfare and it is unrealistic to deport them all so a compromise must be found.

It makes sense that if an illegal has been in the country from 10 to 15 years and has been gainfully employed during that time then this is evidence that they are a contributing member of society and have found a niche in the economy of the country. Sending them back would be a mistake and they should be given permanent legal status as an immigrant.

To avoid an incentive for others to cross the border in the future there should be the possibility or certainty of eviction or deportation, especially for those illegals on welfare or the government dole. As long as you are not a freeloader and carrying your share of the economic burden and paying taxes then you should have no fear of deportation unless you have a history of criminal activity in the United States or any other country for that matter.

Some will try and play the system and work for 10 to 15 years and then after gaining legal status will try to get on welfare and get a free ride. CHANGES IN WELFARE LAWS is my evergreen truth book which will solve the welfare problem not only for legal citizens but illegals who wind up on the welfare dole.

This is a just compromise for a seemingly insurmountable immediate political problem and the general welfare crisis which is cascading out of control.

BULLSHIT JOBS ARE ON THE WAY OUT AND WE WILL NEED CHANGES IN WELFARE LAWS SOON

robot-lover

Robots and computer software is quickly replacing boring, simple, and meaningless make work jobs but it also soon threatens to automate or to replace the diagnosing and treatment of complex diseases and will radically change many professions or careers. All this won’t translate to a shorter workweek but it will translate into armies of humans on government welfare and an elite working class.

My evergreen book CHANGES IN WELFARE LAWS outlines the necessary changes which will have to be made to avoid a revolution and massive social unrest. Already over 50% of graduates, especially in the liberal arts fields, can’t find a job upon graduation because they are not skilled enough in modern technology. We will have to radically reorganize education, politics, social structure, and the economy as outlined in my evergreen book COMMON SENSE.

Here is a link to a blog in the Economist which explains bullshit jobs in greater detail.

WHAT EMPLOYERS ARE LOOKING FOR DEPENDS ON THE JOB TYPE

irs-audit-employer-211x300

All employers prefer someone with some job experience because punctuality is important in any job since the biggest problem is employees not showing up for work. If you have held jobs in the past for more than just a few months it is an indication that you also will probably show up for work on a regular basis.

Minimum wage jobs such as fast food jobs and cashier jobs with a high turnover are frequently jobs where the manager is afraid of his or her job security and will frequently not react very well to someone who expresses a desire to move up in the business hierarchy or organization.  Many of those managers feel insecure in their jobs and do not want you to compete with them for their job.

A happy personality with good communications skills is always a plus but students studying and needing a part or full time work will frequently be hired first because they frequently don’t present a job threat to management and are sometimes more responsible than high school graduates.

Not having a motor vehicle is frequently a sign of financial hardship, financial irresponsibility, and an increased probability or assumption of drug use so it is best to have some form of personal transportation such as a car or motorcycle.

Jobs requiring creativity and thinking independently will frequently require more job experience and more proof that you can do the job successfully. Your resume will become more important with more details about your educational background, achievements, and interests and hobbies outside of work. You may be probed rather thoroughly to determine whether you will be a good team player where being a team player is important.

Specialty skills jobs which don’t require much teamwork will more thoroughly probe whether you have the necessary basic skills or whether you will need some follow up training or education in your field of expertise. Enthusiasm for your specialty job and confidence in your ability is important to convey because selfmotivation is important when working mostly alone without much coworker emotional and skill support.

During a minimum wage job interview let the employer ask almost all the questions unless you have been working at a specialty for many years and are sincerely looking for a job with more pay or greater opportunity to move up in the business organization. If it is a career job then showing caring and asking about benefits and possible perks and advancement potential becomes very important. The job interview should be more of a two way street where questions are asked by the employer and employee and both hope to reach mutually satisfying goals.

One final comment is probably most important to note. First impressions last and you should show up for a minimum wage job interview neat and clean in casual standard clothing without a t-shirt. Career job and executive interviews frequently create a better impression with formal clothing for men and to some extent women too. Smile if you can where appropriate and give the impression that you are generally happy with your life and optimistically moving forward in your life.
