Exasperate: v. to sense extreme annoyance and some anger and especially where we have minimal and/or no control over the annoyance
Extreme annoyance can cause very intense anger too but most exasperations are extreme in dislike and less than extreme in anger because it is not of the raging type.
Repetitious or too lengthy tardiness, arguments, and some bad behavior in general can be very annoying especially if we personally feel relatively helpless or exasperated about doing something to correct the annoyance.

Extreme: adj. largely deviating from a norm(s) and/or cloose to either limit(s)
There are extreme limits of very hot and very cold and there are also extremes in behavior norms which are either considered crazy or bordering on mental illness. Most of us are rather normal and don’t go to extreme limits nor do extreme behaviors which others may disapprove of.
Too much extremism is generally bad but going to extremes once in a while is not necessarily the worst thing which can happen because it reminds us that danger lurks there and it is wise to approach extremes with caution.
I may be called an extremist trying to change the world with my logical definitions of words but I sincerely or fanatically believe that language needs radical improvement or humanity will continue to wallow in much irrational emotional behavior on into the foreseeable future. Humanity will continue to make historical behavior mistakes over and over again with a handicapping language which hasn’t changed much in 2000 years.

Fanaticism: n. motivated by extreme and/or unreasoning enthusiasm for a subset(s) and frequently intolerant of any opposition to samer subset(s)
Usually one thinks of religious and political fanatics totally devoted to and enthusiastically promoting their beliefs with an intolerant attitude. There can be fanatics in other areas of life too who express it with intolerant unreasoning enthusiasm often involving a dogmatic belief(s) which is often is a very deviant and not a normative one. A fanatic may believe that the earth is flat and the sun revolves around the earth and wants all the educational institutions to teach this absurdity.
There is also transient fanaticism which doesn’t last that long which is practiced by some occasionally. Trying to finish work which ordinarily should last a week and trying to do it in three days by taking no breaks and sleeping only a few hours a day could be considered to be a form of transient fanaticism.
Fanaticism is highly subjective in many cases because a fanatical terrorist suicide bomber may be considered to be a hero by those believing in his or her cause. If fanaticism is considered to be a valid means to a “good” end then that fanaticism may in effect be idolized by a group of deviant thinking and behaving individuals.
