THE TRUTH ABOUT FASCINATE*

5928069_300x300

Fascinate: v. to be extremely interesteven and frequently causing irresistible and intense and attractive and temporary focusing

Every once in a while we are fascinated by something such as a beautiful exotic flower, exotic wildlife, or a unique human(s) and our attention is irresistibly drawn to it because it is so interesting.

Words like captivated, alluring, transfixed, spellbound, and curiosity all testify to the incredible transient power to attract a subject of fascination is. A usual temporary fascination can transform into many varied forms of attraction in the future and even love and affection may develop with a fascinating human who is not out of reach socially.

Being fascinated more than once is possible but usually not highly probable because the subject of the fascination usually loses some of its initial intense impact on us with a relatively large duration.

It is proper to say that this fascinated me when introducing someone to something you found fascinating historically. Rarely should you say that I am still fascinated by it because you would be a unique human indeed to have a seemingly never ending fascination for something.

THE TRUTH ABOUT INTERVENTION*

Intervention: n. interacting with a subset(s) trying to (help it focus and/or achieve its goal(s) more efficiently) and/or to ((change and/or delay) and/or stop) samer subset(s)

Many interventions are done to change and/or delay and/or stop something which needs change, needs to be delayed, or must be stopped.

Interventions are also done to help humans to focus and/or achieve their goal(s) efficiently.

With machines interventions are frequently done to repair them or make them more efficient so that they can perform their function(s) or goal(s) with optimum functionality.

THE TRUTH ABOUT SERIOUSNESS***

banner_seriousness

Seriousness: n. focusing on a subset(s) which is relatively important with a minimum of trivial characteristics and frequently not entertaining

Almost no one is serious all the time but when you are serious then you are usually doing something relatively important and doing something which is not trivial or entertaining while you are doing it.

When you say serious trivia or serious entertainment this is really an absurdity or should be an absurdity. Entertainers are the exception to the rule and even though they do some serious work preparing to entertain the preparation process itself as a whole can be much fun or very entertaining.

You can have a serious personality which basically means that you don’t laugh or joke much, don’t like trivial pursuits and conversations, and have a job which you may enjoy but which is serious hard work most of the time.

THE TRUTH ABOUT ENGROSSMENT***

engrossed___vector__by_superladysarah

Engrossment: n. being attracted to and/or interacting with for a relatively long duration and being focused on primarily one subset

Engrossed by a book or video game frequently means that you are exclusively focused on primarily one activity to the exclusion of others.

Watching a spider weave a web can also be an engrossing activity where you seem to be captivated or transfixed by one activity which is going on and really intensely focusing on it.

Impulsively improvising on a musical instrument is also an example of an engrossing experience.

We commonly don’t use the word engrossing when intensely focused on playing with a young child but the definition applies because we are interacting with the child exclusively.

THE TRUTH ABOUT ATTENTION

attention-shutterstock-600x553

Attention: n. focusing and interacting bodily and/or mentally on some subset(s) to the relative exclusion of other subsets

Young offspring love to be the “center of attention” and will cry, throw tantrums, misbehave, demand or ask for things, get into mischief, and curiously roam and experiment with the environment around them causing parents to frequently monitor their every move or pay attention to them.

“Pay attention to me” is frequently the complaint of parents, teachers, and other authority humans who want to control or lead sometimes resistant followers.

Celebrities crave attention and will do some somewhat crazy even notorious things once in a while to get more attention when their popularity starts to wane.

Politicians and business leaders also desire much attention from citizens and consumers.

Historically some tyrants have even erected statues to themselves trying to remain in the minds of their followers at every turn. Today politicians relish being in the most popular media with as much exposure as possible to keep their likenesses in front of public view as much as possible.

Business humans also want their products and services to be the center of attention in human minds and their repetitive ads in the media are attempts to brainwash or more accurately focus the attention of the public on their products and services.

A general truism is that many humans all over the world are scrambling for more attention because more attention frequently translates into more power and money.
