THE TRUTH ABOUT DAMAGE+

download

Damage: v. to injure a subset(s) which is frequently a possession(s) and/or a human(s) which frequently results in a decrease in (value and/or goodness) and/or (quality and/or desirability) and/or (usefulness and/or health)

You damage possessions and you injure humans but I choose to include the injury of a possession in my definition because injury is better understood by humans than damage to possessions. Injury to a subset can be either a human or a possession and is an anthropomorphic concept which I endorse.

With this definition injury to a human or injury to the environment, wilderness, or an object become just as important and can be sensed in visceral human terms.

I do not encourage the division of the world into humans and objects or things but promote the idea that both have equal importance or that humans should not be separated from their environment upon which they so vitally depend in the long duration for their health and survival. Humans are not more important than nature from which they should not be separated!!!!!!

Don’t injure your possessions but treat them with the respect and admiration which they deserve since they are a part of nature and just as important as you are in the overall scheme of things. There should not be a world of humans and things with humans being more important but a world of things or subsets where inanimate objects are just as important as humans in nature.

THE TRUTH ABOUT EXCELLENCE*

Excellence1

Excellence: n. a very large degree of goodness which is frequently a standard of perfection

You can think of something very very good as being the same thing as excellent which is really a very large degree of goodness. Excellence can also be considered to be a standard of perfection which can’t be exceeded or is the ultimate form of achievement. An A+ or 10 on a scale of one to ten can be considered to be excellent.

THE TRUTH ABOUT GOODNESS*

simplicity-goodness-truth

Goodness: n. being (morally and/or physically) desirable and/or achieving a subjective and/or objective (standard(s) and/or norm(s))

Each of us has our personal opinion of what good is based upon our knowledge and experience in life. What you find morally and/or physically desirable you probably consider good. If something meets or achieves your subjective and/or objective standards and/or norms then you also probably think that it is good.

Since an evaluation of what is good is so personal you will find plenty of other humans who might feel that what you consider to be good is in their opinion bad and they may try to convince you of this personally undesirable reality.

For humans the most important consideration should be moral goodness but the morality should apply to humans worldwide. The absolute morality of cliquish religions and cults is no longer acceptable because it promotes conflict and not unity of humans on the face of this precious endangered planet. A new good secular morality must be preached worldwide to unify the world of humans morally.

The new moral goodness should be-except in emergencies: don’t destroy biodiversity, don’t lie, don’t be inefficient, don’t steal, don’t commit adultery if married, and don’t murder!!!!!! This is true worldwide moral goodness.

THE TRUTH ABOUT REWARDS***

tip-rewards

Reward: v. to do and/or give a usually pleasant subset(s) which is done and/or given for achieving a goal(s) and/or for doing a (good and/or right) and/or legal subset(s)

You can be rewarded with money, information, goods, or services for reaching a goal(s) and these are the most obvious form of a rewards but you can also be rewarded with a privilege, status, or right to do something which others generally don’t have.

Having good relationships with offspring, spouse, close friends and humans in general is the reward that you get for leading a moral life. Failure to lead a moral life leads to punishment with dysfunctional relationships and much personal misery and unhappiness.

The least materialistic kind of reward is a grade (status reward) or mere praise for doing something good or good behavior.

Money frequently seems like the best motivating force but a desire to get good grades and getting them motivates the achievers. A selfmotivated student who enjoys working hard at learning and gets good grades is a joy to have in the classroom.

Creating a sense of belonging, purpose, and selfworth in an individual is frequently a key to having a satisfied and industrious employee who may not be paid that much for their effort. A selfmotivated competent employee is the best kind of employee to have who seldom needs external motivation from a boss or manager.

Having pride in yourself and striving for competence in everything that you do is a very valuable selfmotivating state of mind because relying on the kind words and the praise of others to motivate you is not a reliable source of motivation and you will wind up too frequently trying to please others and not pleasing yourself where it is most important.

Finally nature rewards us with the gift of life and if we eat healthy, move around enough, live carefully, and live moral lives then the probability of being rewarded throughout a lifetime and reaching old age is greatly increased.

THE TRUTH ABOUT PLEASURE

pleasure-guilty

Pleasure: n. sensing a sensation which the brain subjectively judges to be good and is what most people desire to experience in various degrees of intensity

Objectively the pleasure which you sense may not be the best thing for you in the long duration such as a drug high which feels good but can devastate your life if you become addicted. Some masochists find pleasure in pain so their brain is dysfunctional and needs rewiring from an objective point of view.

Some hedonists devote their lives to the pursuit of pleasure in all its deviant forms and frequently live to regret their unwise choices. Doing only what feels good is an irrational highly emotional view of life which is devoid of logic and prior human experience about the right way to be living life among other humans.

Our pleasure seeking minds must be disciplined to avoid bad pleasures in favor of good pleasures. Morality and reason helps us to differentiate between the good and bad and good role models are the key to doing so successfully.

10 IMPORTANT SOCIAL TRUTHS ABOUT HUMAN NATURE: PART 6

good_deeds_w640

Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day; teach a man to fish and he’ll eat for a lifetime.

Updated this means- give a man food and he will need more when it is consumed; teach a man how to do a useful job and he will be able to feed himself and a family while the job lasts.

Good to forgive, better to forget.

It is usually good to forgive the mistakes and bad behaviors of family members and close friends even though the trauma of the event may linger in our minds and haunt us longer than we would like.

Idle hands can lead to immorality or trouble.

When rich people have money and nothing much to do they frequently get involved in drugs, lying, promiscuous and deviant sexual behavior which messes up their lives and they can even wind up killing themselves. When the chronically unemployed have nothing much to do they sometimes resort to stealing. In either case, too much free time does quite frequently lead to immoral or troubled behavior.

Each person has his strong point.

Usually most people have something which they are very good at. It can be a very good skill, a very good personality trait, or even physical attractiveness.

Crime against property is relatively unimportant.

This is only true for the Marxist who does not believe that people should have private property in the first place but that all property should be shared by everyone. Have some personal property stolen from you and you will understand how important property is in your daily life and how important it should be for everyone in society. Crime against property is definitely important.

One good turn deserves another.

If you get something good and useful from someone then try to return the gesture with something good and useful for them.  This is just an example of the golden rule in action or do unto others as you would wish them to do unto you.

Don’t place too much trust in experts.

This applies to all the experts in the liberal arts professions where they frequently come up with some very subjective conclusions or opinions which are frequently not really true.  In scientific fields, experts can be trusted more but one should also keep in mind that some scientists are used to push some product or service in a subjective way also.  For example, many drug inventions have so many side effects and insufficient medical research which frequently does not prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that the drug is truly effective in treating and curing the disease. The scientific testing of many of these drugs is frequently terribly flawed and wrong.

Theoretical physics experts wow their flock of believers with an overdose of modern mathematical mythology which in no way will ever be proven in a laboratory.

Enjoy yourself because you can’t change anything anyway.

Live for today because you may die tomorrow or nothing will improve in your life. This advice is what a pessimist would advocate and is inappropriate for an optimist and most people in society. Another pessimistic variation of this is “do what feels good because tomorrow may never come”.

Freedom is a luxury not a necessity.

Judging by the history of mankind the freedom to pursue happiness is indeed a luxury and not a desirable necessity.  In fact, an overabundance of freedom has just speeded up the process of destroying biodiversity and the environment and this destruction is a very bad suicidal tendency of all morally flawed human societies.

CHANGES IN WELFARE LAWS is an evergreen book which I have written which shows in detail how freedom of mobility should be restricted for the destitute and also unemployed so that pollution and use of natural resources is reduced to a minimum in society.

Good deeds eventually are rewarded.

Living a basically moral life with good behavior is usually rewarded with a good family, good friends, and a good job in society.
