WHAT KIND OF EMPLOYEES SHOULD BE FIRED?

Incompetent and lazy employees are easy to spot and fire but there are borderline personality traits and behaviors which are harder to spot and have a cancerous effect on company performance, attitude, and morale.

No one is perfect. Some gossip occasionally, harshly criticize the leadership or employee sometimes, say that’s not my job instead of I am not qualified to do it, blame someone else for under performing themselves, and try to take credit for another’s effort. If someone does this frequently then it is a sign of a corrosive dysfunctional employee who should be fired before such dysfunctional or bad behavior eats away at company performance, attitude, and morale.

Insults, put downs, name calling, ridiculing, and humiliation should be minimal on the job and anyone who relishes and persists in these attacks on employee reputations is not a good fit for the company.

Then there are the marginal lazy ones who do just enough to get by and use phrases such as “you are working too hard and making us all look bad” or “take it easy, what’s the rush?”.

Now a boss or manager is usually in charge of hiring and firing an employee. Whatever gossip there is circulates mostly among the employees and harsh criticism of the boss is seldom done to his or her face. Taking credit for another’s efforts is not always obvious to the boss and personality clashes between employees are also sometimes not that obvious to the one in charge. Further complicating open lines of communication is the difference in managing a handful of employees and twenty or more.

Feedback from a handful of employees is easier to get than from twenty or more so it is easier for a dysfunctional employee to fly under the radar if the boss is in charge of twenty or more employees. What a smart boss may need is one or more trusted long time experienced employees to act as his ears and eyes and inform him or her of any problematic employees. In prison such humans are called rats or spies but in a reputable business or company of large size you may need a handful of trusted informers to help keep track of what is really going on in the company and being held secret from the one in charge.

A boss or manager with emotional intelligence is the ideal with as much one on one communication as possible. The more employees there are the more remote and lesser becomes the one on one contact which is important in many leadership positions. Total reliance on an informer is also not advisable and when informed of a problematic employee the boss should make personal one on one contact and get the facts straight if at all possible before making a decision to threaten or fire a problematic employee.

Whatever the size of the employee count, a good boss or manager will keep as up to date and informed on potential personality problems as is realistically possible whether through personal effort alone or with the help of trustworthy informers. Feedback from trustworthy informers will help spot cancerous employees to be fired before their dysfunctional behavior spreads and starts to destroy company performance, attitude, and morale.

Yes, there are many minimum wage jobs with a high employee turnover where the biggest problem is finding employees who show up on time to work, who don’t do drugs, and who are capable of working hard on a reliable regular basis. This article is not meant as a valid source on how to manage or boss and pinpoint problem employees to be fired in high employee turnover businesses.

12 RELATIONSHIP BAD HABITS WITH SUGGESTIONS, PART 3 OF 3!!!

images

Seeking approval:

Some humans are too committed to trying to please others and getting praised for it. Doing things and saying things and then expecting or hoping for human approve of what you do will create much frustration because frankly most humans don’t care that much about you daily trials and tribulations.

They are too much involved with their own lives to care that much about your own, especially if they are just casual friends or acquaintances.

Seeking approval from offspring by trying to please them too much will create overly dependent offspring not being so good at living independent lives and close friends will probably start making unreasonable demands on you if you are too intent on pleasing them.

Living through others:

Getting too involved in the lives of you offspring or spouse and valuing their successes or failures as your own will not only seem like being a busy body but you will sacrifice having a worthwhile life of your own pursuing what you really want or like in life.

You effectively become a parasite on other humans  mainly reveling in their successes and stressing through their failures. Take time out for your personal wants and interests too to create more balance in your life.

Frustrated with absence of progress:

If you spend much of your time in frustration with your own absence of progress in life or that of your offspring, spouse, or close friends then you may start complaining much and repelling others.

The key to overcoming frustration is to set smaller achievable goals in life and succeeding at them. When you do start succeeding then your level of frustration should decrease.

Spying:

Spying on someone like your offspring or spouse is a sign of distrust and the feeling may be heightened if you have offspring or spouse who hide things from you and lie to you.

Spying is a sign that you no longer have a trusting relationship with humans and that you are either an untrustworthy human yourself or that you gossip too much about your offspring and spouse to others and your offspring or spouse no longer trust you to be confidential with sensitive information.

Spying on a potentially cheating spouse is common in modern society and it is sometimes necessary to get to the truth of the matter.

Gossiping:

Gossiping is really spreading rumors which may not be true and it can hurt someone’s reputation and even your own if it is not the truth.

If you are not sure about the truth of a rumor then don’t spread it before checking the source and by all means avoid spreading rumors from a known unreliable source, especially humans who you rarely know and can’t determine whether they are lying or not.

Chit chatting about humans is not always gossip if you basically stick to real truthful things which they are doing in life.

Ignoring spouse, offspring, or close friends:

Behaving like important humans in your life don’t matter to you by ignoring them is a form of isolating yourself from humans and having a failed relationship or a very small relationship at best.

You can ignore bad humans and humans who are trying to take advantage of you but ignoring humans who you should care about is a communications or relationship breakdown.

Fighting and/or arguing in public:

If you fight or argue in public then you will not only embarrass whom you are fighting or arguing with but you will also develop a bad reputation as an inconsiderate hothead among other humans.

They will begin to think that you have severe relationship problems with your family and interacting with other humans.

Try not to fight or argue in the first place and if you do then do so privately.

Depending on luck:

If you feel that good things will happen if you are lucky then you will probably stop preparing for opportunity and not be able to grab it when it does come along.

Luck has played some role in many human’s lives but they have usually prepared themselves with personal effort and are ready to qualify or deserve the luck when it does come along.

Nagging:

Nagging is a form of complaining and the squeaky wheel frequently gets the grease or something is done about the complaint.

However, if there is too much nagging or squeaking then there is the possibility that the nagging  or squeaky wheel will be ignored or the source of the nagging abandoned.

Control freak:

Some humans are control freaks or try to control others and events as much as possible. Control freaks are frequently tyrants who want things done their way or no way at all and it is the source of much arguing, disagreement, and bad feelings.

Harmonious living with a control freak is usually not possible unless you are a docile subservient human seeking to avoid responsibility for your own actions.

In a democratic society the tyrannical control freak is frequently dysfunctional and will only be happy if moved to another culture which idolizes controlling types.

Tyrannical husbands who want total control over offspring and spouse are getting exceedingly rare these days in the west unless they are controlling bosses at work and carry on the bad relationship habit at home.

Feeling victimized:

If you feel victimized by humans and circumstances then chances are that you will not be struggling that hard trying to improve things or the situation.

The “poor me” attitude frequently wanting sympathy from others will frequently backfire with humans not willing to offer you any sympathy and usually not wanting to have relationships with you either.

Misery loves company and if you do have any friends left they will be leading similar miserable lives and you will be wallowing in your misery a long time.

Living in the past:

Old humans with little life left frequently live in the past recalling past experiences and retelling their life stories over and over again to whoever will listen.

Some ex jocks or athletes and young movie or TV stars also live in the past and frequently wish they were young again and able to compete or function at the same high level.

If these aging relatively young humans don’t find other worthwhile careers or interests to pursue they frequently  become alcoholics and drug abusers and lead very dysfunctional unhappy lives.

14 IMPORTANT WEAKNESSES OF BAD BOSSES!!!

JAN-what-kind-of-boss-pic-300x199

It is easy to stereotype a boss and call him an angry, fearful, overwhelmed, gossiping, disinterested, inappropriate, credit hogging, distracted, unprepared, money obsessed, suspicious, inconsistent, controlling, overly critical boss.

The truth is that a boss may exhibit any of these undesirable characteristics to some extent, some of the time, and not always. If a boss is angry, fearful, overwhelmed, etc. all the time then they will usually not last long as a boss or will be severely disliked by whatever employees are still working under those conditions.

The more abundant this kind of behavior is the less competent the boss becomes and he or she may in fact eventually selfdestruct and loose authority if he or she is not the sole owner of the business because most employees will not want to work under such bad leadership.

The angry yelling boss is not liked because he or she uses fear, confrontation, and aggressive behavior trying to intimidate and bully employees instead of using reasoned discussion, emotional intelligence, motivational skills, and relying on his or her integrity to ensure respectful obedience when necessary.

A high ranking boss with the above good characteristics can also be charismatic but unfortunately most are rather average without much charisma because they lack the desirable leadership skills in abundance.

A fearful boss who avoids problems and hopes that they will go away with time should not be a boss in the first place because confident, competent handling of issues is his or her job or responsibility.

If you are an overwhelmed boss with too many subordinates all creating too many problems to handle and can’t successfully multitask them all then you have either taken on more responsibility than you can handle or you are an incompetent manager not knowing how to juggle many problems within a short period of time. The overwhelmed boss will probably not spend as much time helping you when you need it most and you will feel ignored.

Some gossiping is inevitable but a gossiping boss behavior is a busy body probing into the personal lives of everyone and most probably feel that he or she should mind their own business more.

The disinterested boss leaves employees thinking that they are on their own in the wilderness without guidance and he or she can’t be called a competent leader by any stretch of the imagination.

An inappropriate boss exhibits weird behavior with off color jokes, shady remarks, and sexual innuendos. Most employees can’t tolerate such deviance from normal behavior and respect for someone like that is not possible.

A credit hogging boss will be disliked because most want to be acknowledged and praised for their earned contributions at work and not stolen from by a boss who tries to take all the credit for an employees work.

The distracted boss focusing on too many outside interests is one who is not always in control when they need to be and employees will frequently feel like ignored second fiddles.

An unprepared boss who does not do strategic planning, can’t control anything well, and leaves employees without guiding instructions and goals to achieve or follow can be called incompetent.

The money obsessed boss almost always referring to finances as the main reason for doing things is going to fail in properly motivating employees and creating a healthy work environment. Money is an indicator of business success but there are things like customer satisfaction, a good product or efficient service, and an efficient working environment which makes making the money possible in the first place and is much more important in terms of important priorities.

The suspicious or snooping boss basically reveals that they don’t trust their employees and may have some personal trust issues and not be trustworthy him or herself.

The inconsistent boss will not treat all employees fairly or justly the same way and will have favorites which most will become aware of and start to resent.

The controlling boss frequently tries to micromanage and gets too involved in trying to run employee jobs thus tyrannizing and interfering with workers who usually want to be free to do their work their own way

The overly critical boss seems to always know what everyone else is doing wrong and will finger point or put employees on the spot in front of others thus damaging motivation with humiliation.

8 THINGS YOU SHOULD LEARN FROM SHITTY HUMANS!!!

shitty2010

It is best to try and avoid shitty humans. If you can’t avoid them then ignoring them as much as possible may be a solution but you will have to learn to defend yourself and your loved ones against them if they become an inescapable part of your life, especially if they are trying to spread lies about you or your loved ones.

You learn to develop a thicker skin or learn to handle mistreatment without becoming too upset or giving in to abuse. You maintain your composure and hold on to your integrity when crap is being thrown at you.

You learn to defend yourself and those closest to you if they come under unjustified attack or attempted abuse. You courageously defend yourself and your loved ones against lies if they are being spread.

You learn that sometimes you may be victimized by mistreatment only because you were available and the bad human was just transferring their bad experience effects or dissatisfaction on you and misdirecting their venom.

You learn that some shitty humans refuse to be helped with advice or consideration and you should not pursue your goal of helping if the human refuses it.

You learn that some shitty humans are just rude, annoying, abusive, and gossip because they enjoy being jerks so you should not become depressed if you are surrounded by more than one such personality type.

You learn that if you live with resentment, hatred, jealousy, and anger at some of the bad things which humans do to you then it will handicap you emotionally. It is best to forgive and move on if possible or to forgive and remember forever so it doesn’t affect you adversely again or so that you can take appropriate steps to avoid future hurt.

You learn that shitty humans have shitty habits and that it is almost always wasted effort trying to reform them or get them to change those shitty habits.

You learn that shitty humans are all around and with time you learn to ignore or avoid them as much as possible so that they have minimal bad impact on your life and emotional well being.

THE TRUTH ABOUT RUMORS

rumors_12x12_poster-r434b02e456c74bf6aef7f1da14c95ca5_wvk_8byvr_512

Rumor: v. to currently circulate information of uncertain and/or doubtful truth

Some rumors are outright lies designed to hurt someone’s reputation. If you start an untrue rumor then chances are great that it will come back to bite you sooner or later and your own reputation will be tarnished when someone finds out who the source of the untrue rumor really is.

Spreading rumors which are untrue or highly doubtful is malicious gossip and you should try and avoid becoming part of an unjust rumor mill. To determine whether a rumor is untrue check the source. If it is someone with a reputation for spreading untrue rumors then don’t accept it as the truth and definitely don’t spread it further or you too will be blamed for spreading lies.

If the source of the rumor is someone whom you trust then you have the choice of spreading it further or keeping the juicy information to yourself. If the rumor is something bad about a human whose respect you want then the best thing to do is just to keep it to yourself and save it for the future in case you need ammunition to fight back if you are victimized by some injustice.

FOUR QUESTIONS TO ASK YOURSELF BEFORE YOU START SPREADING RUMORS OR GOSSIP

rumors

You hear some juicy or bad information about a human and you aren’t sure if you want to pass it on to other humans, especially your family and close friends. There are 4 questions you should ask yourself before you spread the bad news.

Who is the source of the information?

If the human providing you with the bad information about a human is not trustworthy or has a history of untrue rumors and gossip then don’t trust the information and under no circumstances should you try to spread it to others.

Is the information true?

If you personally don’t know if a rumor or gossip is true then don’t spread it, especially if the information has the potential to ruin a good reputation. If the rumor or gossip is about a human with a bad reputation then it may be true and you can proceed to try and verify the information before you spread it further and further ruin an already bad reputation.

Is the information good news?

If the rumor or gossip is something good about a human then spreading the rumor or gossip will not adversely affect a human’s reputation and you can proceed to spread the information.

Is the information useful?

Sometimes the rumor or gossip information is not very useful and is everyday common knowledge, behavior, beliefs, or opinions which will not affect a human’s reputation if it is mentioned and is relatively useless information to pass on. Of course you can conclude that the bad information will be useful in trying to destroy a human’s reputation for personal gain but be careful that you don’t destroy your own reputation in the long duration. Lying about a human will come back to haunt your own good reputation eventually as it frequently does given enough time.

CONCLUSION: If a rumor or gossip is from a human with a bad reputation, is not true to the best of your knowledge, is not good, and is not useful then you shouldn’t spread the rumor or gossip further.

If you liked this evergreen blog read more of them.
