20 QUESTIONS TO DETERMINE WHAT IS MOST IMPORTANT IN YOUR LIFE!!!

prior

Establishing priorities in life is really finding out what is important to you and listing them in order of importance. Asking a series of appropriate questions is a good way of finding out what is important to you.

Here are 20 questions which you can ask yourself:

Who do you look up to or is your role model?

Who influences your life the most, excluding yourself?

Who would you like to associate with more?

What do you long for?

What do you strive for?

What do you consider to be your most important contributions in life? This can be a list of one or more.

Other than other humans, what has considerable influence on your life or plays prominent roles?

What handful of things gives you the most pleasure or satisfaction in life?

What would you choose to do if you had one year left to live with limited resources?

What do you care about the most which is not a human?

What would you like to improve in yourself?

What bad habits would you like to eliminate from your life?

What are my short duration goals and what are my long duration goals?

What important responsibilities do you dislike the most?

Where would you like to be five or ten years from now?

Where would you like to retire?

Where do you spend most of your time away from work and home?

When will parenting begin in your life and approximately when will your parental responsibilities hopefully mostly end?

When do you want to retire if at all?

When will you start prioritizing your life so you will have more time and resources to spend on the important things in your life?

Having answered all the above questions you can now arrange the humans and things in order of importance in your life.

Once you find out what and who is most important in your life then you can proceed to devote more time and resources to them or rearranging your life and doing things so that you can have more time and resources for them.

What gives you the most pleasure in life can be a misleading question because many bad habits and addictions can bring much pleasure but dramatically decrease the pleasure which you find in other more rewarding activities.

A short cut to analyzing what is most important in your life is to list the time and money spent on something. It is usually a fact of life that what you spend most of your time and money on is what is most important in your life right now.

If you are unhappy with the time and money going to the present priority or priorities then your next step is to CHANGE and devote more time and money to the things which you truly consider to be desirable important priorities in your life.

Happy planning and doing!!!

THE TRUTH ABOUT PRIMARY+

pri_res

Primary: adj. largest in importance

Your primary concern may not be the primary concern of someone else but it has the greatest or largest importance for you.

Your primary concerns in the long duration are sometimes different than you primary concerns in the short duration.

Your primary emotion in life may be love but your primary emotion at a given point in time may be jealousy, anger, happiness, or sadness. In the moment whatever emotion you have or are experiencing has the greatest importance or is of primary importance to you.

Family may be primary and a job secondary but if you lose your job then job becomes a primary concern until you find a new one.

THE TRUTH ABOUT PROMOTION+

promotion

Promotion: n. motivating and helping a subset(s) to grow in importance frequently by increasing (rank and/or privilege) and/or wealth

Getting promoted means that you have become more important and that is reflected in an increase in rank, the acquisition of a privilege, or an increase in salary or commission.

In school grade promotion is a bad example of being promoted for achieving a minimum standard of learning skill even though the reality is often that you are being promoted merely because you have had another birthday and are older by a year.

Unless you have achieved a top rank not being promoted for a very long time frequently means that you have ceased to grow in your job and are stagnating or doing the same basic thing year in and year out. Not everyone craves promotions because with a promotion frequently comes more responsibility and more stress which some humans just want to avoid.

Product promotions or ad campaigns are designed to increase product importance in the market place.

THE TRUTH ABOUT RELEVANCE+

relevance

Relevance: n. having a logical correspondence and/or importance to the subset(s) being considered

That information is not relevant or what you are saying is not relevant to the situation means that there isn’t a logical connection with the subject being discussed or that the information has no importance or bearing on the subject being discussed.

Most of us desire to be relevant all the time but it is frequently a skill acquired and perfected only after years of experience and gathering useful knowledge in a field of expertise.

THE TRUTH ABOUT SPECIAL+

images

Special: adj. much different from the norm and a relatively unique subset(s)

Something special is usually something relatively unique to an individual but it is also very personal and open to much subjectivity or personal bias. What may be special to you may not be special to someone else.

Special privileges are granted to some individuals and create a sense of exclusivity but there are also special sales which are merely discounted sales of information and/or goods and/or services and are not really special but merely attempts at labeling something as being exclusive. They are frequently realistically available to millions of humans and not special at all.

THE TRUTH ABOUT PRIORITY+

Priority

Priority: n. giving one subset(s) more importance than a different subset(s) and frequently listing the order of importance

What are your priorities in life? Some want a good job, nice family, and enough money to spend on things they enjoy doing or having. You may be one who lands a job and then spends every penny getting as much fun out of life as possible. Unfortunately many wind up with poor jobs, failed relationships, and a life of constant struggle to survive or a relatively boring and depressing lifestyle.

Priorities in life change with age. In childhood having fun may be your highest priority, later landing a job may be a big priority, and having relationships with the opposite sex and other humans may be other priorities down the line. Retirement priorities also often radically change your lifestyle unless you have been fortunate enough to set aside enough money for retirement.

Crises such as medical problems or job loss may cause you to set new immediate necessary priorities but generally humans get into set habits or lifestyles and generally don’t think much about rearranging their priorities in life.

The whole key to setting good priorities in life is to set good short term and long term goals in your life and spending some time every day or every other day working on your long term priorities. If you do this then you will optimize your potential for advancement or improvement in your lifestyle in the long duration.

If you don’t set aside some time to work on your long term goals then unfortunately you will become the victim of circumstance and basically live from day to day in the same general way with little evidence that your life is improving or without any great hope that your life will improve.

Setting priorities on the job comes with time and experience. There are some things such as scheduling your time, planning the order of your tasks for the day, taking time out to relax, and setting aside time for the unexpected all of which will all make you a more efficient worker.

Scheduling your time and priorities with family and friends is just as important after work and if you do this judiciously then you will be surprised at how much time you have left over to pursue your long duration priorities.

If your life is a mess and you don’t know how to set priorities then it will probably continue to be a mess. Planning for a better future and working towards that better future in small steps on a regular basis is the key to success.

Don’t plan for a better future and your life will be a largely unpredictable series of unplanned unpredictable events. You will become a victim of circumstance and not a ruler or controller of circumstance.

Control your destiny as much as possible or be at the mercy of an unknown destiny. The choice is yours.

THE TRUTH ABOUT SERIOUSNESS***

banner_seriousness

Seriousness: n. focusing on a subset(s) which is relatively important with a minimum of trivial characteristics and frequently not entertaining

Almost no one is serious all the time but when you are serious then you are usually doing something relatively important and doing something which is not trivial or entertaining while you are doing it.

When you say serious trivia or serious entertainment this is really an absurdity or should be an absurdity. Entertainers are the exception to the rule and even though they do some serious work preparing to entertain the preparation process itself as a whole can be much fun or very entertaining.

You can have a serious personality which basically means that you don’t laugh or joke much, don’t like trivial pursuits and conversations, and have a job which you may enjoy but which is serious hard work most of the time.

THE TRUTH ABOUT SUPERIORITY***

images (1)

Superiority: n. sensing excessive competence and/or dominance in a subset(s)

As offspring we want to be stronger, smarter, more skilled, and more attractive than other offspring and want to be loved or valued more by older offspring and authority figures such as parents.

In effect we sometimes desperately want to be better or superior to others. This desire for dominance leads to stereotyping and group thinking later in life and is the source of much prejudice, bias, and superior group thinking.

Wanting to be better leads to feelings of superiority when you are better and it is an inescapable fact of human existence which must be combated in its extreme forms. Those who are not superior frequently try to make up for it with material possessions or status symbols which make them feel more important than they really are in society.

The truly superior in society are frequently the honest, sincere, dependable, competent, friendly, trustworthy, moral, and modest who do not flaunt their wealth if they have any and do not brag about their superior status in society.

If you have integrity or are honest and moral then you are truly superior and it will be reflected in good relationships with other humans. Some without integrity may prosper financially in the short duration but their human relationships will be handicapped or frequently very bad.

THE TRUTH ABOUT IMPORTANCE

????????????????????????????????????????????????????

Importance: n. frequently subjectively judged being (valuable and/or dominant) and/or (large ranking and/or powerfully affecting a subset(s))

There are things which we feel or sense are important and there are things which are important which we don’t recognize have importance in our lives.

There are important humans, events, and objects in our lives. Knowing what is important depends to a large degree on our ability to set priorities in our lives and devote more attention to the important ones.

Food, clothing, shelter, transportation, education, job, relationships, family, and entertainment frequently have the most importance in our lives. How much time, energy, and money we spend on important priorities frequently determines how important they are in our lives.

When crises or emergencies arise then those are frequently things which we feel are most important and we readily devote much time, energy, effort, and money trying to deal with them successfully. Once the crises or emergencies are dealt with successfully we then go back to our daily habitual routines and live life accordingly. Sometimes the crises or emergencies are so severe that we may actually change our priorities and live life differently than in the past.

Going through different stages of life also determines what is most important. As offspring education is very important, as adults work and relationships become important, and in retirement learning what to do with all the free time becomes an important consideration along with deteriorating health in some circumstances.

If you are unhappy living life or have many problems then chances are you have to rearrange your priorities and spend more time, energy, and frequently money with the new important ones. Set new goals in life which can be realistically achieved and make them more important in your life and chances are that you will live a more optimistic and happy life and will start feeling a sense of achievement or accomplishment.

Addictive bad behaviors can have a powerful influence on our lives and squeeze out more important good priorities or behaviors. Not recognizing that some pursuits in life are rather trivial and unimportant leads many to lead stagnating lives with seemingly little progress.

Humans in control of much money are the most important in society because they can change society for better or worse. Bank, corporate, and organizational leaders have the most power although politicians also are important in running the world. Most human organizations have an hierarchical structure with those at the top being the most influential or important and that especially is true of the military establishment.

Power or control over energy and humans is what is important in this world but science and technology is impacting the world in a major way and is having both good and bad impacts on human life and biodiversity.

Morality and laws are also important and the more moral a law the more just it is. Basic human morality is being decimated and the result is more irresponsible human behavior which results in unjust special interest laws which benefit the wealthy and poor at the expense of the middle class which is greatly decreasing in numbers.

Important sound economic values of thrift, saving, and responsible financial living are not being promoted in society and more and more are living irresponsibly resulting in many personal bankruptcies which are reflected in almost bankrupt national and international economies. A moral distribution of wealth is failing in society and with it the financial health of the world is also beginning to fail.

Morality is the most important in society but the second most important institution is education which is failing miserably teaching a historically important liberal arts curriculum in the 21st technological century.

Morality, education, economics, politics, science, technology, and society are important. Unfortunately most of us are not in a position to change any of these fields for the better but we can at least try to live morally and get a job which will not become obsolete in the not too distant future.
