THE TRUTH ABOUT APPRAISE+

tumblr_m5by9qGlqy1qbolbn

Appraise: v. to frequently make a document and/or communication by a qualified human which is a judgment of the approximate value of a subset(s)

Appraising a job applicant or a home is basically making a judgment of the approximate value of a subset(s) based on provided information and making a decision to react to the approximation in some manner. Usually expert appraisers or professionals are the ones most accurately making appraisals on a subset(s).

THE TRUTH ABOUT CONCLUSION+

Conclusion

Conclusion: n. a judgment and/or decision made relatively impulsively and/or after some reasoning

Most conclusions are reached relatively impulsively but in science and statistical analyses some mathematically based reasoning is used.

Reasoning is only possible with accurate definitions and unfortunately in most subjective subject areas of the liberal arts very little reason exists if at all since so much of the reasoning is not based on logical principles but most conclusions are made based on prior subjective human experience and subjective human consensus or norms.

What is also a truism is that very frequently there are really more than one conclusions which can be made after evaluating circumstances and factual evidence. Most causes do not just result in a single effect but in many effects from which you often have to choose one or prioritize the many possible conclusions in terms of relevance. Many causes almost never result in one conclusion only or one effect but many effects are possible.

THE TRUTH ABOUT EVIDENCE*

evidence-logo-trans-2016

Evidence: n. a subset(s) which can frequently be used to help make a conclusion and/or judgment and is frequently presented in court

Evidence gathered may be relevant or irrelevant and the conclusions or judgments which you make from it may be valid or invalid.

When evidence is presented in court the primary concern is usually whether it is truthful or factual evidence and secondarily whether it is relevant to the issue being considered which is an alleged crime.

There is also the possibility that evidence may have been fraudulently placed in an attempt to frame an innocent party so trying to get to the truth of a matter is a very inexact procedure and far from being scientific.

The reputation of the plaintiffs and defendants is a critical consideration as well as the reputation of any common or professional witnesses. That a nicely staged emotional appeal to the jury is vital in most prosecutions is a fact and often a high priced lawyer is one who is not only very skilled in presenting evidence and is also skilled at making emotional appeals to the jury.

When convicting someone on circumstantial evidence it is often a question of how overwhelming it is and the more circumstantial evidence that can be presented the better or there is more certainty with much of it. 100% certainty is seldom possible so guilty beyond a reasonable doubt is the standard for judgment in court because some doubt in the minds of some jurors almost always exists.

THE TRUTH ABOUT IMPROBABILITY*

bluewaves

Improbability: n. judging a subset(s) (to have a minimal subjective chance of being true in the past and/or future and/or to have a minimal subjective chance of existing in the past and/or future)

Improbability is a subjective evaluation of a minimal chance that something is true and/or exists in the past and/or future. Commonly a subjective appraisal is made that something is highly unlikely to be true and/or exist and is therefore improbable.

Improbable is not impossible but close to it and humans who use improbable sense that maybe there is a rare chance they may be wrong and there is a minimal possibility that they may be wrong or that that something may actually be true and/or could exist but for the moment they just don’t believe that it is true and/or can or did exist.

THE TRUTH ABOUT PRUDENCE+

Prudence-logo

Prudence: adj. reasoned and careful and good judgment which increases the probability of danger and/or risk avoidance

Prudent behavior minimizes danger and large risk with careful, good, and reasoned judgment. Prudent behavior is subjective to some extent because what may seem prudent to one human may be not so prudent to another human.

No two humans are careful, good, and do reasoning the same way since impulsiveness predominates in behavior and it is based on all of ones prior experiences. Every human’s impulsiveness is different to some extent and so prudent behavior is also different from one human to the next.

THE TRUTH ABOUT REGARD+

RegardTM_Logo

Regard: v. to sense and think about something with the intent of forming an opinion and/or judgment

We highly regard some humans which basically means that we have formed a very good opinion of them and frequently feel they deserve our respect.

When we regard something then we are evaluating or making a judgment as to how good or appropriate or bad something is based on our personal appraisal or valuation of it.

We regard humans and make relatively snap judgments or stereotype them rather quickly and have rather instantaneous opinions of them based on looks and initial behavior.

First impressions are sometimes wrong and our initial regard for them may change with time as they reveal more and more of their true personality.

THE TRUTH ABOUT SUBJECTIVE+

TruthisNotSubjective

Subjective: n. a judgment made which is mostly based on emotion and personal opinion without much attention given to the facts and objective reasoning

The liberal arts professions are filled with subjective judgments which makes promotion based on merit a remote possibility because who you know and who you follow is often more important than what you know and how truthful it is.

Political correctness and the mass media which promotes it are filled with subjectivity and there is little hope that this will change for the better in the near future.

Escaping subjectivity is the role few humans are willing to pursue even though the technological revolution and scientific discoveries are breaking down historical subjectivity at an increasing pace.

I am one of the few rare humans who is trying to whittle away at the seemingly impenetrable wall of human subjectivity with the truth!!!

THE TRUTH ABOUT GUESSING***

images (1)

Guess: v. to make a judgment and/or estimation without adequate knowledge for certainty

Guessing what you will probably do and think is easier than guessing about what your offspring or spouse will do and think. The less that you know about a human or a situation the worse your guessing becomes.

Guessing about your near future is better than your guessing about what will exist a year or more from now.

There is nothing like previous experience with humans or experience with a skill or job to make you a better guesser about those subjects. Prior experience is vital for good guessing but even with it you can be very wrong and still make some very bad guesses.

Predicting future outcomes and relationships is something that we would all like the power to have and there are plenty of fortune tellers and horoscopes trying to fulfill this basic desire to want to know what the future will bring.

Taking out all the guesswork in life is mission impossible and even perfectionists have to admit that they are even wrong some of the time and can’t always make things turn out to their liking.

Technology and computer software is taking much guesswork out of many professions but there are still areas like psychiatry where faulty guesswork is rampant. No accurate definitions of the terminology used and a desire to get quick results makes ballpark estimates or diagnoses highly inaccurate and prolongs much misery and unhappiness in patients. Pushing pills with very bad side effects is handicapping many patients for the long duration with prolonged emotional distress and no cure.

Read the side effects for psychiatric drugs. They are exactly the same as the symptoms which the pills are supposedly trying to cure. If you weren’t mentally ill to start with then you will be when you start taking them and then try to get off them. If you weren’t mentally sick to start with you will be when you are put on them and try to withdraw!

If you had infrequent hallucinations and no insomnia before taking the pills then you will have more hallucinations and guaranteed insomnia when you try to withdraw. In effect you wind up with more side effects after withdrawal then you started with. The chemical imbalances that the pills cause in your brain are nothing short of criminal, especially if you have used them for a long duration.

In the US fifty years ago about 3% of the population was mentally ill. Today we are close to 25% with mental illness and patients are taking one or more mind altering psychiatric drugs. If those statistics are not proof of medical malpractice then I don’t know what kind of proof has to be collected to reform a very corrupt profession making a tremendous profit at patient and taxpayer’s expense.

Guessing about most things in life does not lead to much personal injury but guessing about your mental health should be a crime because it can make you terribly unhealthy in the long duration. The cost to society from this irresponsible guesswork is in the billions!!!!!!

THE TRUTH ABOUT SUSPICION

239 - baby big-eyes suspicion

Suspicion: n. judging intuitively that a subset(s) with little evidence or no proof is the probable cause of an event(s) in the past or the future

Sometimes we may have no proof or just a suspicion that someone is lying to us or stealing from us or an organization. If we investigate thoroughly we may find evidence that our suspicions were accurate.

Sometimes our impulsive feelings are accurate without proof because we have become very skilled at determining small changes in speech or mannerisms which are indicators of lying or deception.

After working for many years in the personnel department or having much experience hiring employees we may sometimes go with our gut or intuitive feelings about a human and not just the details found on a resume.

Sizing up a human based on speech patterns and body language is an acquired skill which few have in abundance because it demands exposure to a wide variety of human personality types over many years. The intuitive feelings of older adults are frequently more accurate than the intuitive feelings of young adults. The intuitive feelings of spouses and close friends about each other are frequently more accurate than intuitive feelings about casual friends.

Blaming or criticizing a human based on a suspicion is a dangerous thing to do overtly because without proof you are merely guessing. In many cases your guesses may be totally wrong and you may wind up offending a human unjustly for something they did not do.

There are also rare paranoid humans who intuitively feel or suspect that almost everyone is lying to them or deceiving them and maybe even stealing from them.

THE TRUTH ABOUT INDECISION

download (1)

Indecision: n. not being able to make an opinion and/or judgment after some thought and/or inquiry

Many of us have thought and researched a problem and still feel indecisive because we either don’t know what to do or have so many options that we have trouble choosing what should be the right one first.

We consult other humans with similar situations in life and sometimes find their decisive solutions to be acceptable in our situation also.

When in doubt or faced with indecision then try to find someone who has been through the same problem and has successfully resolved it. It can be your spouse, a close personal friend, or a licensed professional. Further research on the internet from humans who have had your problem and found solutions to it are also an excellent source to end your indecisiveness.

Finally, if you are faced with indecision it is just a question of more time needed to research a solution to your indecision and you may even conclude that the best decision is to make no decision at all!!!!!!

THE TRUTH ABOUT JUDGMENT

iStock_000014989271_ExtraSmall

Judgment: n. achieving a conclusion which is frequently impulsively based upon subjective and/or objective facts where objective facts should be dominant if it becomes a conclusion with a high degree of truthfulness

Most of us make many more relatively impulsive judgments forming opinions and reacting to the humans and environment around us.

If we are not engineers or technologists only sometimes do we meticulously gather as many objective facts as possible and make decisions or judgments based on them.

Most of our lives are dependent on the manipulation of emotionally biased subjective facts and opinions and making rather subjective decisions and judgments based on them.

Judgments made in court are supposed to be objective by telling the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth. The reality is that there is frequently much hearsay evidence by unreliable witnesses, enough untrue testimony, and biased professional opinion which makes true justice impossible to arrive at.

Convictions and sentencing is ballpark justice and sometimes injustice since big money and experienced lawyers play a dominant role in determining guilt or innocence. White collar fraud with large amounts of money involved rarely gets justly prosecuted and there are frequently minimal fines and rare prison terms associated with the fraud.

Politicians almost never make objective decisions but base their judgments on monied dominant special interests and majority emotionally biased opinions or beliefs held by their constituency.

Decision: n. making an opinion and/or judgment after some thought and/or inquiry

Whether or not we know it when we say something or do something we are frequently making impulsive and infrequently logical judgments about how to proceed. When we make decisions we frequently take time out to think about what to do or say.

We have been conditioned with good and bad habits and views of the world which greatly influence the impulsive and carefully considered judgments which we make in life.

Impulsive judgments dominate our lives because few of us have the luxury of taking time out to think about what we are going to do or say next. Our experiences in life have been stored in deep sub conscious memory and it guides most of our daily behavior. Yes, there are jobs which require much more logical thinking than usual but they are rather infrequent in the world of the common human.

The more impulsive your judgments are the more you handicap yourself with an inability to take time out to consider all the perhaps better alternative behaviors which you could be doing. Being too spontaneous is OK for low level jobs but if you are in a complex job which requires much reasoning or thinking then your spontaneity will be a handicap.

Judge not lest ye be judged is not very good advice because we make judgments every day of our lives and it is our responsibility to become better judges with more experience, useful knowledge and skills about humans and things. Being a good judge is basically knowing what is the right or wrong thing to say or do in any given circumstance and doing the right thing.

Are you a good judge of character? If you are looking for and favor honest, sincere, dependable, and basically trustworthy humans then you are a good judge of character. If you randomly pick friends and relationships and hope to get lucky in finding a good one then you are probably a bad judge of character.

THE TRUTH ABOUT APPROVEMENT

9142340-approved-and-rejected-icon-set-vector-illustration

Approvement: n. judging a subset(s) to be good and/or right and this judgment is sometimes bad and/or wrong for the average human.

(Criminals and/or deceivers) and/or liars frequently approve of bad and/or wrong behavior

Approval can come from a law or rule, judge, expert, authority, commoner, or immoral human.

Be careful who you get your approval from because it may be illegal and/or immoral.

Most humans are very opinionated and they impulsively approve or disapprove of many opinions, ideas, beliefs, and behaviors. If you approve of something then you usually say “yes” and emotionally feel pleasant about what you are approving of.

If you do not approve of something then you usually say “no” or use words like stupid, crazy, nasty, horrible, terrible, disgusting, outrageous, unacceptable, bad, lousy, shitty, crappy, it sucks, and many more words and phrases which convey disapproval.

You have to be careful not to offend someone by your disapproval of someone’s behavior because words like stupid will upset someone who doesn’t think that they are stupid. They may have done only a few stupid things in their recent past but not enough to be labeled or stereotyped as being a stupid human.

The danger in approving something arises when you have been deceived or lied to and trust that what a human is telling you is the truth.

You may invest much money in a friend recommended supper risky penny stock only to find out that almost all the value is gone in a day or two.

You may be very tempted to invest thousands in a company recommended by a friend of yours because it returns as much as 20% a year on invested money which turns out to be a Ponzi scheme and you lose it all.

You may trust an acquaintance’s promise to pay you back a $20 dollar loan only to find out that the acquaintance vanishes from view and never pays you back the $20.

You lend $2000 to a friend and he or she never pays you back and you lose a friend because you never forgive them for not paying you back.

You may approve of your offspring going out late at night on their own only to discover the next day that they went out and got drunk and did drugs with some bad friends.

You may approve of your spouse’s spending habits only to find out that she or he maxed out the credit card and created great financial stress.

You may say yes and do someone a small favor only to find out that they have a list of new favors to ask you which start to really annoy you.

You trust the dealer’s good description of a used car only to later find out that you purchased a lemon.

Be careful of approving anything where money changes hands and be wary of humans promising to do things when they have not fulfilled many of their promises in the past.

Beware of impulsive approval on important things in life such as buying a big house or committing to marriage which should require much conscientious thinking before saying yes to them, especially calculating the money which you will need to support a big house or family life.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN REALITY AND TRUTH?

reality-check

Reality is everything which exists in this universe and that includes all beliefs which many now frequently feel are mythological, frequently some religious beliefs which are untrue.

Truth is a personal judgment of which realities are more valuable in our lives.

I personally believe or judge that scientific knowledge or mathematically provable realities are the most important. Secondly I believe or judge a secular moral code to be a vital reality in the peaceful interaction of humans on the face of this earth. I believe or judge accurate statistical evidence and scientific logical approaches to be more valuable in the formation of laws than just intuitive feelings of what fairness or justice should be.

Saying that something is false frequently means that you don’t value the response as an accurate description of reality. The wrong answer exists or is real but it is not accurate or is totally inaccurate. An accurate and sometimes mathematical description of reality is frequently more valued than an inaccurate description of reality in words and is considered more truthful or the truth.

If you say that something existed in the past and it is a totally inaccurate description then it is a lie or untrue. If you make a partially accurate description of a past event then it can frequently be called a deception or a partial lie or partial untruth.

Social truths are relative and subject to change from generation to generation with the exception of moral truths about human nature which are eternal statistically derived truths or realities about human behavior.

Your truth is different from my truth and unfortunately there is no objective truth which proves the necessity for the existence of a secular moral code so that peaceful human interaction worldwide is possible.

An evergreen truth blog may seem like a presumptuous exclusive claim on the truth and if you personally feel that it is my personal opinion and not your truth then of course you have a right to disagree. Peace!!!!!!
