THE TRUTH ABOUT COMMISSION*

Commission: n. a group of humans with the legal authority to rule and/or change (rules and/or laws) in a subset(s)

There are basically permanent commissions and temporary ones which are sometimes set up by an authority to consider and deal with an urgent or short duration problem(s).

Politically very often when a problem can’t be solved immediately or there is no consensus a commission is set up to study the circumstances and it is frequently a technique for stalling action on important matters which should theoretically be resolved to the satisfaction of most.

Doping of athletes and severe sporting accidents are frequently the source of rule changes made by a commissioner to minimize unjust competition or to make the sport safer in the long duration.

Registration: n. recording existence under a legal authority such as an organization and/or government

You frequently have to register or sign your name at a minimum to be able to take advantage of a service or become a member of an organization.

Becoming a member of an official group of humans means registration and even the internet is gravitating towards official registration under your real name or identity if you want to benefit from an internet service.

There are of course secret societies and unofficial groups which do not require official registration and participation is permitted in them.

Permission: n. giving a legal and/or natural possibility to do a subset(s)

Getting permission to do something from an authority figure is a fact of life in society. You need to get permission to do certain things from your older offspring, parents, teachers, coaches, and bosses. To be polite you even need to get permission to enter a conversation between two humans intensely discussing something.

Rebelling against authority and not asking for permission to do something is something teenagers frequently do but in many cases it is not something illegal that they are doing.

Paying for something is a way of getting permission to do many things such as skydiving, para sailing, driving a rental car, and getting into a theme park.

Getting a license or permission to do something legally is a fact of life in an over regulated society where even lemonade stands, bake sales, and garage sales in some localities are required to get licenses before they can sell their goods.
