It seems that mass marketing will soon be largely a thing of the past with the exception of perhaps the football Superbowl which has a large once a year audience. A large number or majority of humans watching the same entertainment on a regular basis is becoming a a relatively rare circumstance except for some movies which have mass followings worldwide for a rather short duration.

Social media is helping this fractioning process and is creating many special interest groups of humans but no one large group with a shared common interest.  With the exception of movies, music, fashion, and the arts in general are creating many specialty interests but no mass followings.

Instead of mass followings many future businesses will be adjusting their ads to try and appeal to those interested in what they have to sell in a personal way. Is the dying of a mass culture a bad thing with a few common interests being propagandized about? Probably not, but human personal biases and desires will be satisfied to move sales volume.

Promises of beauty, good relationships, health, longevity, status, and sexiness will be eternal motivators of humans who want more out of life than what they were born with and those are universal or mass topics which appeal to almost everyone.

Humans will always need drink, food, clothes, shelter, transportation, status, and good relationships with others and there will be plenty of marketers promising to fulfill those basic human needs.

MASS MARKETING HAS CHANGED TO FOCUSED MARKETING FOR MODERN SELLING SUCCESS

Mass marketing via TV, radio, mail, and newspapers is no longer cost effective and is being replaced by focused selling to smaller identified groups of customers with special needs and demands. 

The practical historical philosophy that one commercial or ad fits all customers is quickly biting the dust and being replaced by customized selling approaches to much smaller audiences.

HOW THE INTERNET IS CHANGING BUSINESS AND OUR LIVES

            The internet is revolutionizing the world and is becoming a threat to many specialty local businesses.  Book stores are threatened and video and music stores are going out of business. Movie theaters are suffering and electronic stores and greeting card stores are hurting. Internet retailers are severely impacting local retailers and winning over many customers.

Middlemen wholesalers are being severely affected by direct online sales as more and more humans buy online.

Dating and communicating on the internet is changing the way that we socialize. Socializing on the internet is also rapidly replacing the need to socialize in person and this is a great efficient change in human behavior.

More and more of us are getting our information and products on the internet.  We can surf the internet and get most of our entertainment there.

About 2.2 billion humans use the internet worldwide which means the world will soon become one great interacting community without borders. Global retailing, global socializing, and global education is what we can look forward to.

Soon schooling will be interactive audio visual education on the internet and the dysfunctional public school system with the exception of elementary school will be threatened with obsolescence.

My book EDUCATION REFORM details the inevitable changes necessary to free people from the unacceptable substandard education in this country and world.  Future lives will mostly be spent on the internet and more and more of us will be living sedentary lives.

Someone is already providing the service locally and is doing a better job and has customers which will be hard to lure away,

the good locations for the business are already taken or too expensive to afford,

you can’t get good wholesale prices for the goods you will be selling and will have to charge more,

you will need low skilled workers with a large turnaround and personnel headaches,

you will need skilled workers and few exist locally or you will have to train them yourself and invest much time and money which can evaporate if they leave for a better paying job elsewhere once trained,

you are a neophyte or very new to the business world and aren’t sure what managerial and accounting skills are necessary to do the job right,

you feel that you can run the business by the seat of your pants on a daily basis without the need to plan into the future,

you are not confident that what you are offering is going to be popular with the buying or patronizing public,

you don’t have or don’t know how much money you will need to make the business last for more than a few months or even a few years.

you haven’t researched other similar businesses to see how they made it past the first five years or so working and not making a profit

THEY PUT IN A LARGE AMOUNT OF TIME IN FOCUSED EFFORT TO ACHIEVE THEIR GOALS AND DON’T EXPECT OVERNIGHT SUCCESS TO EXIST.  THERE IS EXTREME DEDICATION AND A MUCH DIFFICULT WORK WHICH GOES INTO THE EVENTUAL SUCCESS.

THEY WORK MUCH MORE THAN AN AVERAGE 9 TO 5 WORKER AND ENJOY PUTTING IN THE EXCESS OR OVERTIME WORK.

THEY DON’T FOLLOW POPULAR SUBSETS BUT MAKE GOALS IN FREQUENTLY UNPOPULAR AREAS OF EXPERTISE WHERE THE COMPETITION IS LESS AND THE CHANCES FOR EVENTUAL SUCCESS ARE GREATER.

THEY ARE FREQUENTLY EXTREMISTS WHO DON’T MAKE AVERAGE GOALS BUT WANT TO BE THE GREATEST OR THE BEST OR THE CHEAPEST OR THE MOST EFFICIENT OR THE SPEEDIEST OR THE LARGEST AND GENERALLY TRY TO ACHIEVE ULTIMATE GOALS.

AFTER ACHIEVING AN ULTIMATE GOAL THEY FREQUENTLY GO INTO OTHER FIELDS AND TRY TO ACHIEVE SUCCESS THERE TOO BASED ON A PROVEN RECORD OF ACCOMPLISHMENT. THEY TRY TO BECOME A CONGLOMERATE OF SUCCESSFUL PURSUITS BY MAKING IMPORTANT BUSINESS OR PEER CONTACTS WHICH OPTIMIZE THE POTENTIAL FOR MORE FUTURE SUCCESSES IN SIMILAR OR DIFFERENT FIELDS.

THEY HAVE DEVELOPED THE ABILITY TO SELL OR SUCCESSFULLY PROMOTE OR ADVERTISE THEIR BUSINESS OR GOALS WITH APPROPRIATE CONVINCING AND INSPIRING ENTHUSIASM AND MAKE USEFUL HUMAN CONNECTIONS CONSTANTLY WHICH HELPS IN WORD OF MOUTH ADVERTISING ALSO.

THEY HAVE A LARGE EGO OR A LARGE PERSONALITY WHICH IS ALMOST CHARISMATIC AND THEY CAN TOLERATE MANY “NO” REACTIONS IN THEIR LIVES AND CAN COMMUNICATE EFFECTIVELY WITH MANY SUBSETS OF HUMANS AND HAVE THE ABILITY TO CREATE MANY LONG DURATION RELATIONSHIPS WITH HUMANS. THEY HAVE THE ABILITY TO CONVINCE HUMANS TO WORK WITH THEM AND NOT AGAINST THEM.

THEY TRY NOT TO BRAG AND ARE NOT PROUD TO THE POINT WHERE THEY CAN’T ADMIT TO MAKING A MISTAKE AND IF THEY DO THEY APOLOGIZE AND FREELY ADMIT THAT THEIR SUCCESS WAS A GROUP EFFORT AND GIVE CREDIT WHERE CREDIT IS APPROPRIATE.

THEY LAUGH OR POKE FUN AT THEIR MISTAKES OR INADEQUACIES AND ARE NEVER TOO PROUD TO ASK FOR HELP WHEN THEY SEEM TO NEED IT. WHEN THEY FAIL THEY CONTINUE TO PURSUE THEIR GOAL AND TRY AGAIN!!!!!!
