THE TRUTH ABOUT NET NEUTRALITY+

bilde

Should the internet have a watchdog or rules which make its use just for almost all users?

Without regulation or rules it is possible for monopoly companies to get preferential treatment and pay much less for internet usage than the common human and any new startup company.

Size and money is an unfair advantage over small internet businesses which could be potentially censored at will by having to pay more money for the service and getting slower access times. The hoggers of internet access like Netflix, Google, and BitTorrent should pay more for bandwidth than smaller users and not less but this is counter to the business philosophy that volume means a lower price for the service. The hoggers of bandwidth should pay more and subsidize the small users who are not hogs of the internet but are in fact enslaved by the big monopoly users who want to maintain their power indefinitely so that they can charge whatever they want for the service.

I see satellite communications as a competitor of cable services but it will require much money to make the competition a reality and I am sure that the cable companies will fight desperately trying to maintain their stranglehold over current internet business.

The internet pricing policy is skewed in favor of bigness and does not give the little business a fighting chance. It is ultimately a question of just pricing policy for the big and small and rules or laws must be put in place so that there is pricing justice for all legal internet users!!!!!!

A relatively objective evaluation of net neutrality giving the pros and cons is found in this brief article in scientificamerican.com.

THE TRUTH ABOUT BRIBERY

bribery

Bribery: n. motivating someone to steal by giving and/or promising (money and/or ingus)

Ingus: n. information and/or goods and/or services

Scratch my back and I will scratch yours or do me a favor and I will do you one is a very human reaction. If someone helps you there is a tendency to want to help them also. Unfortunately in politics this leads to corruption with lobbyists giving money to politicians and they pass special interest legislation benefiting those special interests at the expense of everyone else. Money is being stolen from every tax payer to benefit the few powerful money interests and the disparity in wealth gets greater with each passing year.

Laws should be passed to benefit the general welfare but in fact much of the time the selected few or big money benefits. This political activity is really an accepted form of bribery in the nation and it is unjust.

If the jury was bribed to pass a verdict favoring the guilty we would all consider it a form of grave injustice yet politicians get a green light for their briberous behavior.

Bribery frequently exists behind closed doors or it is done in secret and sometimes big brand names of huge conglomerates bribe store owners and encourage them monetarily to place their products on the shelves and not competitor brands.

One way in which outright bribery is prevented is that they buy up the competing brands and create a monopoly for their products. Recently I noticed that Walmart withdrew its competing cereal brand from the shelves and only big brand name products are being sold. Whether they were bribed or bought out is a big question mark but choice in products has been reduced to the detriment of everyone.

THE TRUTH ABOUT CAPITALISM

upp

Capitalism was designed to create just competition between many competing businesses. Businesses could provide better customer service, a product at a better price, or an improved quality product all resulting in efficient exchange and the most profitable business would grow and prosper.

Monopoly or near monopoly businesses mean less competition, being able to buy raw materials at unjust lower prices, not being so innovative or producing poor quality goods which don’t last as long, buying up smaller businesses to eliminate new competition, setting prices as high as they want, demanding unreasonable low prices from suppliers who are totally dependent on the monopoly, less choice in the variety of products offered, and colluding with other near monopoly businesses to fix prices.

The only thing which is keeping prices for information, goods, and services low is international business competition but there too capitalism will no longer be functional with monopoly international banks and corporations.

There is also less competition for capital intensive companies like airline manufacture where it is very difficult for a new company to try and compete with a novel airline improvement or design since startup costs are in the billions of dollars.

If you had a great new business which was making a big profit and growing quickly then you could go to the stock market and make it go public hoping to get more money for further expansion opportunities. Today there are still some rare technology IPOs which go public but are quickly bought up by larger technology companies to eliminate competition and give them a worldwide edge.

There is in fact a big monopoly of international banks and big money and fast computers manipulating the stock market causing much short duration volatility and making the stock market a gambling crap shoot with almost no opportunity of making money in the long duration. Stock price movement is rigged and for all practical purposes the movement is rarely tied to fundamentals or tangible assets.

The small business man and woman are also threatened with extinction because they can’t buy products and raw materials at the wholesale prices only available to big businesses or franchises and can’t compete with them.

Capitalism is still alive for the big money boys but is almost dead for the small investor and small business man or woman trying to make a logical business investment with little capital.

CONCLUSION:

Competition against very big business or monopolies is less likely and the benefits of capitalism are greatly reduced or even nullified. The business becomes a special interest with government supported laws that promote inefficiency and waste and don’t produce quality, durable, and long lasting products or services. Innovation or product improvement is also minimal. Profits become more important than customer satisfaction.

NECESSARY NEW LAWS FOR BUSINESSES

global_business_team

MYTH: Taxes should not be higher for polluting high accident rate industries.

TRUTH: Money or tax penalties for dangerous industries and businesses are necessary to motivate them to become less polluting and less dangerous in the future and they need not have insurance coverage if the government gets a higher tax and can afford to pay for the dangerous health hazards to the public which cause illness and injury. Extra government tax revenue from these dangerous industries and businesses can pay insurance claims and medical bills without a middle man which are the insurance companies.

The truth is that businesses can only be controlled with taxes and laws which control safety standards and include the pollution levels of toxic chemicals.  Polluting and very unsafe businesses should be most highly taxed and in the future national and international monopolies should also be highly taxed. Unsafe businesses cause many injured workers existing as unemployed and destitute so they should either be mandatorily insured or should pay higher taxes proportional to their accident rates and not be insured by a private insurance company.

All employed individuals should be taxed and there should be a national sales tax on goods to decrease consumption and to support the growing numbers of unemployed and destitute citizens.

Nontoxically polluting and nonmonopoly businesses should not be taxed at all but should be motivated to compete with each other for monopoly rank.

Conglomerates should be taxed if some of their subsidiary businesses are polluters or if some of them are monopolies.  This will motivate conglomerates to exclude toxicly polluting and monopoly businesses and it will simplify government tax forms because there will be independence between taxed and nontaxed businesses and percentage rate calculations of the taxed and the non taxed business enterprises will not have to be made. Conglomerates would not be tempted to commingle funds to help an unprofitable polluting business subset.

Taxation of corporations will exist simplified since there will exist independence between toxicly polluting businesses and monopoly businesses and the most desirable organically or biodegradable polluting and stable material recyclable polluting nonmonopoly businesses which should not be taxed at all.  eg.

certified organic restaurants would not be taxed and

certified organic farmers would not be taxed and

certified organic flower and plant growers would not be taxed and

certified organic domestic animal producers using organic food to feed the animals would not be taxed and

certified wholesalers of organic food would not be taxed and

landscapers using organically grown plants and lawnmower humans would not be taxed even if they mow chemically treated lawns and plants and

vehicle rental companies would not be taxed and

car dealerships and vehicle repair shops would not be taxed as long as they recycled their toxic waste products or put them in nonpolluting containers and

repair people and repair companies for homes would not be taxed and

wholesalers and retailers of building and car supply businesses would not be taxed.

Primary manufacturers of materials for vehicle parts or house parts from raw materials which cause polluting byproducts in the air and/or land and/or water would be taxed. (containerization and non polluting storage of most of the toxic pollutants but not including carbon dioxide which is a natural environmental gas used by plants could be containerized for at least 200 years and could qualify for a large tax decrease)

What constitutes a monopoly?  An absolute monopoly with 100% control of the market is very rare and unusual so perhaps about 95% control of the market for goods or services should be a standard used to label a business a monopoly.

Also price fixing is possible through collusion by more than one company so a difference in wholesale price of 5% or less can be considered monopoly pricing policy by two or more companies.

Gasoline wholesale prices may not vary more than by 5% so most gasoline companies can be  labeled monopoly companies and can be taxed.  The real reason oil companies should be taxed is that oil refineries pollute the environment with toxic chemicals and this is the primary reason why they should be paying taxes.

The truth is that monopoly businesses in the future should mean less choice in the variety of products on the market.

Small companies on the internet will always offer specialty products not existing locally.  Even when art and craft products should severely decrease in popularity there will always be some who will continue to pursue classic art and craft skills and try to sell the archaic products on the internet and other places.

Nuclear and coal power could be used to efficiently power electric vehicles when the supply of gasoline decreases but nuclear and coal power will end at some point in the future and a switch to   renewable sources of energy is a predictive reality.

The only renewable source of energy which is worth pursuing intensely is solar power.

Switching only to natural gas is insanity and very inefficient for the long duration because natural gas is not dense enough and is even rarer than gasoline in the earth’s crust. Temporary switching to natural gas for trucks is not cost effective in the long duration and gas heating of homes in the short duration is a good means to use this nonrenewable relatively scarce resource.

The energy business is the most important business because how we use energy and in what form we use it determines how efficient a society is  with energy.  The more efficient the energy use with renewable forms of energy is the more just the society can be.  A just society also means that the energy is used primarily for useful survival based behavior and not the pursuit of trivial behavior.

Businesses should continue to centralize in huge megastores such as WalMart and Costco and Sam’s Club with a one stop shopping for everything concept.  Instead of commuting to many buying centers only a few buying centers should exist for suburban areas which still survive the necessary movement towards urbanization.

Fewer workers should be necessary because of standardized parts and the fact that modern scanning machines and robotized stocking machines and automated credit verification techniques will soon replace cashiers and most goods stacking personnel.

Food businesses with fresh perishable organic produce should be desired by the urban health conscious and there should always be a choice of new foods and new food crazes which one can follow which are imported from many parts of the world.  Some supermarkets are slow in providing an much organic produce so specialty supermarkets and organic food franchises may have to compete to accelerate the movement towards certified organic farming produce.

Service stations should continue to carry high volume food and drinks and dry goods in the transitional period.  The only subsets of small towns should be robotized service stations within the country which will service the largely national traffic which should still exist in every region of the country.

Businesses in small towns should go bankrupt as more and more humans move into larger urban areas where commuting is more economical.   The truth is that service stations in the future can be automated and there should be no need for many humans to live in the middle of the country.  Only robots will service these service stations on a regular basis.

The internet should be the source of most rare or specialty goods and only frequently used standardized goods should be available in local stores and local service stations.

The truth is that businesses should be given government tax incentives to move to primary urban centers along the coast of the southern states where there is adequate water.

Snow free living can be the most economical lifestyle in the long duration.  The truth is that monopoly businesses will standardize goods and an unnecessary excess supply of varied goods could be reduced to an efficient minimum.

With an ever increasing number of unemployed and destitute citizens and a severe decrease in bodily tourism it makes sense that vacant hotels and motels can be temporarily purchased by the government and used as residences for the vast numbers of unemployed and destitute citizens in the transitional phase to primarily urban communal living.
