9 THINGS WHICH CAN DEMOTIVATE WORKERS!!!

demotivators__by_boomerangmouth

Overworking workers will overstress and overload them causing great dissatisfaction. At the other extreme not giving workers enough work or responsibilities will bore and demotivate them in the workplace and they may start looking for a new job.

An incompetent manager or leader blaming workers for his or her mistakes is a great demotivator.

Trying to box in a worker with ambitions to work his or her way up the corporate ladder or improve him or herself in the workplace is another demotivator.

Constant threats of firing coupled with put downs, name calling, insults, rudeness, humiliation, and ridicule is bad leadership which can really kill morale.

Incompetent leadership in another department which has to interact and operate smoothly with your department can also be a frustrating demotivating force.

A manager or leader not giving credit where credit is due can also demotivate deserving workers.

A manager or leader who shows gross favoritism to a worker, especially if the favoritism is not earned or deserved can be a great demotivator.

A manager or leader who isolates him or herself in the office or gives impossible tasks or unrealistic deadlines to workers and is a bad communicator is a great demotivating force.

A coworker or coworkers who are lazy, backstabbers, or disruptive influences on team morale can also be great demotivator.

THE TRUTH ABOUT TAUNTING+

WittyFacebookStatusMindPictures-13953

Taunt: v. to provoke with repeated (criticism and/or ridicule) and/or (insults and/or name calling)) frequently due to an imbalance of power

Whether criticism, ridicule, insults, and name calling are used to attack someone it is an attempt to assert dominance or superiority over that someone and get others to indirectly or directly join in.

Taunting provokes anger and aggression from the taunted and there is usually no fear that physical violence will result because frequently the taunter is also physically superior in strength.

Teasing is playful taunting and usually done between equals and usually neither side gets permanently offended. In taunting one side or the taunted side gets offended and there is some frustration that nothing much can be done about the offensive situation. Trash talking may be the attempted defense used by the taunted but there is an implied acceptance of an inferior circumstance which is not challenged very aggressively because there is a realization of relative powerlessness of the taunted in the circumstance.

Taunting usually reveals your weaknesses or flaws and is what makes you feel slightly or greatly inferior to others who don’t have those same weaknesses or flaws.

Excellent blog which dramatically shows the destructive beast that language can be when wrong stereotypes and name calling are used to label humans.

THE TRUTH ABOUT HONESTY

honesty

Honesty:  n. being truthful and/or (without intentional fraudulent and/or deceptive behavior)

Honesty, telling the truth, or not lying is the best policy if you want a good reputation but that need not mean that you have to give honest answers to questions which are probing your private affairs. If you think it is privileged information then ignore the question or honestly say that you would rather keep the information confidential.

Brutal honesty should be avoided, especially name calling. If someone deserves criticism for doing something stupid, crazy, or incompetent then don’t say- You are stupid, crazy, or incompetent! Say that what you did was wrong or bad and maybe offer an example of what you would have done instead.

Avoid using vague superlatives such as ugly, hate, disgusting, weird, vulgar, loathsome, creepy, and yucky. If you must criticize then say that you dislike something a lot or that it is inappropriate and give your reasons why. If you give a reasonable reason for the objection then the human will not feel personally offended and think that you are calling them an ugly, hateful, disgusting, weird, or creepy human.

Deception is also a form of lying or not being honest and means that you are only being partially honest with hidden lies or hidden bad consequences.

Sincerity is honest communication with a respect for another’s feelings so if you are being honest then take into consideration the fact that feelings may be hurt if you give brutal honest criticism.

Be honest, sincere, dependable, and without deception and you will have a great reputation and most humans will respect and maybe even admire you!!!!!!
