Blue-man-Questions-Comments

THE TRUTH ABOUT CONFLICT+

conflict-man-woman

Conflict: v. to attempt an action(s) against a lifeform(s) which may result in violence(s) but it is frequently an insoluble argument with different and frequently opposing beliefs and/or opinions

Conflicting opinions are often opposing opinions and/or beliefs which frequently result in intense insoluble arguments and occasionally may even lead to violent actions.

Other conflictens, historically known as conflicts, are more physical in nature such as slapping, pushing, and shoving which sometimes result in violent aggression  but this extreme is usually avoided in most cases if the involved humans are sober and not overly high strung emotionally.

THE TRUTH ABOUT DEBATE+

TheDebateLogo

Debate: v. to formally argue and/or discuss with opposing opinions and/or facts

Most debates should start out in discussion format but unfortunately on some issues the discussion can turn into an argument with either side trying to dominate the debate without using important facts to back up their viewpoints. When debates turn to arguing then reason often is ignored and verbal fighting begins with tactics such as ridicule, name calling, put downs, smears, and harsh criticism.

Some political debates start with questions from a moderator but can soon turn into assaults between competing politicians with tit for tat comments being lobbed between opposing candidates. A clash of personalities rather than a true debate about the issues begins as each tries to appear better, smarter, or more witty than the opposing candidate.

Unfortunately in politics it is the personality of the candidate under pressure which determines whether voters will vote for you and coming across with public emotional appeal, cool, calm, and humerous is often more important than the factual basis of the argued issues. Key words which resonate well or appeal to voter emotions are more important to repeat and stress rather than presenting dry supporting facts which few really understand or want to absorb during a political debate.

THE TRUTH ABOUT RHETORIC+

quote-rhetoric-is-the-art-of-ruling-the-minds-of-men-plato-146456

Rhetoric: n. communicating opinions with minimal factual information

Political rhetoric is the most common and it is politicians using general emotionally appealing words trying to appeal to human emotions and not basing their speeches on much factual information. Name calling, put downs, insults, guilt by association, and ridicule are the main tools for demonizing the opposition.

Rhetoric is the shield behind which deceptive humans hide when they want popular support but don’t have much substance behind their issues or topics. Their speech is general enough so that they are not accused of lying once they get into office and business resumes as usual without any progress or solutions to problems being made.

Rhetorical questions are also meant to create an emotional effect and are rather meaningless and are not said to necessarily get a desired meaningful answer. “Did you hear me?”, “Why are you so stupid?”, “Aren’t you ashamed of yourself?”, “Isn’t that great?”, and “Why not?” are examples of rhetorical questions.

Effective emotional rhetoric can energize a crowd and create support for whatever cause which you are promoting. Facts alone are frequently not enough to create loyal followers.

THINGS WHICH CAN MAKE HUMANS IRRESISTIBLE!!!

Irresistible

Travis Bradberry lists and briefly describes 11 things which can make a human irresistible and the top four are-

Be polite and respectful

Treat others the way they want to be treated         (this one is a little tricky because if you have an egomaniac who wants to be praised much then you don’t cater to his weakness by praising him or her much but you do perhaps praise them more than you would other humans. Also the human may have a weakness for certain foods or drinks which may not be all that good for their health but you recognize this and cater somewhat to these personal tastes so they feel that you care about them and what they like too even though you might not fully approve. If a human has weaknesses then don’t support them so much that they may begin to feel that the weaknesses are indeed normal and nothing to worry about. The key here is to recognize that there are individual differences and that not everyone wants to be treated the way that you would want to be treated called the golden rule.)

You must have integrity

You must differentiate between facts which don’t vary and opinions which are many and you recognize that humans have a right to them even without agreeing with you

THE TRUTH ABOUT UNREASONABLE*

dont-try-to-reason-with-someone-who-enjoys-being-unreasonable-quote-1

Unreasonable: adj. not achieving an accurate and righta (conclusion(s) and/or judgment(s)) and/or inference(s) from a (fact(s) and/or hypothesis(s)) and/or (opinion(s) and/or belief(s)) and/or sensing

If something is not accurate and right then the conclusion, judgement, inference, hypothesis, opinion, feeling, or belief may seem and actually may be unreasonable.

An unreasonable anxiety or fear is merely a fear of something which normal humans would not be afraid of. Unreasonable feelings are also possible where you might unreasonably love someone despite the fact that they treat you like shit and disrespect you.

9 “LOGICAL” DISCUSSION ERRORS!!!

time for discussion

Logic: n. being skilled in accurate reasoning

Reason: v. to try to achieve an accurate (righta conclusion(s) and/or judgment(s)) and/ or (inference(s) from a fact(s)) and/or (hypothesis(s) and/or opinion(s)) and/or belief(s) with the use of the probabilities between cause(s) and effect(s) correspondences and/or set(s) and subset(s) correspondences

There should be no “logical” ARGUMENTS filled with emotional bias but they should rather be “logical” DISCUSSIONS with as little emotion as possible expressed during the exchange of propositions and conclusions or judgments. An argument or attack on someone’s opinions mimics the violence of physical conflict where any tactic is acceptable as long as you come out the winner and not loser. The winner take all and the loser is left with nothing mentality must be absent from any “logical” discussion and the end result may actually not be certainty but a probability of one or more conclusions or judgments or no conclusions or judgments at all.

The domain of logical thinking is an attempt at establishing objective cause and effect relationships which science excels in because of mathematics. Without the use of mathematics or merely using statistical probabilities, propositions and conclusions or causes and effects can’t be proved conclusively because they frequently can’t be repeated experimentally in the lab with identical results.

WHAT are we discussing logically? Is it possible to discuss everything logically or does logic have its limitations in everyday usage since so few humans think logically in the subjective emotionally biased liberal arts world which we are living in. The best logical usage is with objectivity and it is highly improbable that you will come up with an agreed upon logical conclusion or judgement discussing strongly held subjective emotionally biased opinions or beliefs.

There are errors in accurate reasoning or logic which should be avoided as much as possible. If you are arguing then making these reasoning errors will sometimes increase the probability that the argument will increase in emotional intensity and get very angry. Here is a list of 9 discussion and/or argument errors or 9 don’t dos.

Don’t attack a human’s character and only discuss a character flaw if it seems to be the primary reason for the discussion and/or problem to be solved.

Don’t misrepresent and/or exaggerate the opposing opinion hoping to make it easier to refute by intentionally and unjustly trying to make it less believable.

Don’t use subsets to represent the set.

Don’t always assume that just because something occurred before in time then it must always be the cause.

Don’t always insist that your conclusion and/or judgement is the only one possibility even though that is frequently your goal or desire.

Don’t ask the human with the opposing opinion to do your convincing responsibility for you which is erroneously called the burden of proof because you are really not proving anything but merely trying to persuade with plausible reasons and/or communications.

Don’t assume a cause and effect relationship unless there is a probable logical connection or correspondence between them based on some historical precedence or experience. New cause effect discoveries in human behavior are highly improbable.

Don’t automatically assume that the popularity of the proposition and conclusion or the opinion makes it true.

Don’t always assume that an authority figure is infallible or has or is always communicating truthful facts or opinions. If it is a respected and truthful authority figure based on prior experience most of the time then don’t question everything and every time he or she says something, especially on unimportant matters.

THE TRUTH ABOUT DISAGREEMENT***

agree_disagree

Disagreement: n. communicating incomplete correspondence of some different opinion(s) and/or fact(s) and the communication may be recorded

Disagreement frequently originates because the facts used and the opinions formed from them are different for one human versus another.  Sometimes the facts are the same but the opinions about them may differ.

Whether it is facts or opinions or even beliefs which don’t correspond, disagreement is frequently the result. Frequently the good reputation of a human or an authority figure is what or who dominates in important disagreements where compromise is not possible. If you have an excellent reputation or if you are the boss then your opinions and facts will frequently dominate any disagreements on what the best course of action is to be.

If a disagreement is not job related then you can frequently agree to disagree and it need not adversely affect a relationship. Politics, religion, and sports are examples of areas where disagreement is rampant and need not affect your life adversely if you agree to disagree.

Language is terribly biased into yes or no, antonym or synonym, always or never, black or white, and agree or disagree thinking. The truth is that there are frequently shades of grey and you can disagree 40% of the time and agree 60% of the time. An opinion may be true most of the time but not all the time and there may be many important exceptions to the rule or opinion which apply in the real world. It is better to approach most disagreements as disagreements only in degree and not absolute disagreements. Seldom does one human have the whole truth and the other human has no truth or is totally wrong.

To avoid terrible arguments and confrontations when you disagree you can use the smart approach and say that you agree 80% of the time with an opinion but here are the examples or reasons why I disagree with you 20% of the time. Of course the percentages are ballpark figures and may not be that accurate but it will get the message across that your opinion or opinions also have some merit and should be considered in the discussion.

THE TRUTH ABOUT OPINIONS

OPINION-340x200

Opinion: n. communicating a transient belief which is subject to change if confronted by logical reasoning or experiences which nullify samer belief

Opinions are frequently transient beliefs which we have about things which are relatively easily subject to change if we are shown that our opinion is untrue or not the whole truth.

We may temporarily believe that a new exercise routine will help us to lose weight. We try it and it fails so we change our opinion and conclude that it doesn’t help us to lose weight.

We may feel that one way to get good behavior from offspring is to bribe them or pay them every time that they behave very well. This may result in blackmail where the offspring will only behave well if you pay them or they may misbehave even when paid. Your opinion was wrong and bad circumstances force you to change your opinion or belief that money will solve bad behavior.

We frequently have favorable opinions about what we like and unfavorable opinions about what we don’t like. Our favorable opinion about a favorite food, celebrity, or appliance may all change if we get bored with our favorite food and find a better replacement, if our favorite celebrity mistreats a spouse or develops a drug addiction, and if the “reliable” appliance breaks down sooner than expected.

Sometimes  with logic and new facts someone will show that our opinions are erroneous and we change our opinions without new personal experiences playing a major role in the opinion change. Humans whom we trust and respect can also change our opinions more readily than humans which we don’t respect and trust.

Strong beliefs are not opinions easily changed so if you believe in moral behavior then you are highly unlikely to switch to immoral behavior. If you don’t believe in lying, stealing, and adultery then chances are you will take those beliefs to the grave and not change them.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN PROACTIVE AND REACTIVE BEHAVIOR?

circle of control example

Proactive adj. trying to logically control the probability of a future event(s) by making a goal(s) and planning to achieve samer goal(s) and doing an action(s) to achieve samer goal(s)

Reactive: adj. causing an action(s) by a subset(s) after impacting samer subset(s)

Proactive behavior is not the opposite or antonym of reactive behavior because frequently proactive behavior has large reactive subsets. No one is totally logical using much reason to plan ahead but makes many reactive decisions based on past experience, knowledge, skills, beliefs, and opinions to try and project into the future and optimize the probability of desired results with personal and directed group action(s).

Few humans have the luxury of time to logically and rationally think about and gather appropriate information on how future events could be controlled to get desired results. The smarter you are and the more logical your work and responsibilities are the more proactive a percentage you exhibit in your behavior(s) and you gradually decrease the amount of reactively abundant personal largely impulsive behavior.

Finally trying to accurately detect and then control the emotions of humans is largely an impulsive reactive skill learned from an abundance of experiences with humans in similar situations. Emotional IQ is largely reactive with little need for logical thinking and is vital to leading most human motivational effort. Being proactive emotionally is largely an absurdity unless you are dealing with motivational public or private proactive plans or skills to get desirable emotional reactions at a future time from your captive audience.

Proactivity is basically an attempt at responsibly setting goals, planning to achieve them, and doing your best to achieve those goals in an active way with or without the help of other humans.

THE TRUTH ABOUT TOLERANCE

tolerance3

Tolerance: n. having the ability to let a belief(s) and/or a moral behavior(s) to exist without attacking it and/or arguing against it immediately

If you have strong personal beliefs and opinions but do not attack or argue immediately against opposing views unless absolutely necessary then you are a tolerant individual.

You can promote your strong beliefs and opinions with humans who share them but that does not mean that you have to challenge different beliefs and opinions at every turn. If you try to avoid confrontations and arguing about politics, religion, and sports then you are a smart tolerant individual.

Being tolerant of criminal and immoral behavior such as lying, stealing, and adultery promotes chaos in society and you can be considered to be an anarchist trying to destroy society if you do so.

THE TRUTH ABOUT JUDGMENT

iStock_000014989271_ExtraSmall

Judgment: n. achieving a conclusion which is frequently impulsively based upon subjective and/or objective facts where objective facts should be dominant if it becomes a conclusion with a high degree of truthfulness

Most of us make many more relatively impulsive judgments forming opinions and reacting to the humans and environment around us.

If we are not engineers or technologists only sometimes do we meticulously gather as many objective facts as possible and make decisions or judgments based on them.

Most of our lives are dependent on the manipulation of emotionally biased subjective facts and opinions and making rather subjective decisions and judgments based on them.

Judgments made in court are supposed to be objective by telling the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth. The reality is that there is frequently much hearsay evidence by unreliable witnesses, enough untrue testimony, and biased professional opinion which makes true justice impossible to arrive at.

Convictions and sentencing is ballpark justice and sometimes injustice since big money and experienced lawyers play a dominant role in determining guilt or innocence. White collar fraud with large amounts of money involved rarely gets justly prosecuted and there are frequently minimal fines and rare prison terms associated with the fraud.

Politicians almost never make objective decisions but base their judgments on monied dominant special interests and majority emotionally biased opinions or beliefs held by their constituency.

Decision: n. making an opinion and/or judgment after some thought and/or inquiry

Whether or not we know it when we say something or do something we are frequently making impulsive and infrequently logical judgments about how to proceed. When we make decisions we frequently take time out to think about what to do or say.

We have been conditioned with good and bad habits and views of the world which greatly influence the impulsive and carefully considered judgments which we make in life.

Impulsive judgments dominate our lives because few of us have the luxury of taking time out to think about what we are going to do or say next. Our experiences in life have been stored in deep sub conscious memory and it guides most of our daily behavior. Yes, there are jobs which require much more logical thinking than usual but they are rather infrequent in the world of the common human.

The more impulsive your judgments are the more you handicap yourself with an inability to take time out to consider all the perhaps better alternative behaviors which you could be doing. Being too spontaneous is OK for low level jobs but if you are in a complex job which requires much reasoning or thinking then your spontaneity will be a handicap.

Judge not lest ye be judged is not very good advice because we make judgments every day of our lives and it is our responsibility to become better judges with more experience, useful knowledge and skills about humans and things. Being a good judge is basically knowing what is the right or wrong thing to say or do in any given circumstance and doing the right thing.

Are you a good judge of character? If you are looking for and favor honest, sincere, dependable, and basically trustworthy humans then you are a good judge of character. If you randomly pick friends and relationships and hope to get lucky in finding a good one then you are probably a bad judge of character.

THE TRUTH ABOUT LISTENING

Listening-Quotes

Many of us like to talk but not listen, especially about the things important to us and we sometimes bore others with a lengthy speech or create conflict because we insist that our opinions be heard, that they are true, and don’t realize that others may have valid opinions and facts which are totally different from our own.

The way to reduce conflict and get our point across frequently means listening closely to what someone is saying, accurately reading their emotional attachment to the topic, and asking follow up questions to determine what they are really thinking and why they think that way.

Listening and probing a little with questions will help you to better understand where a human is coming from and understanding will lead to a better reply than just an impulsive one without reflection.

Only after getting all the vital facts, opinions, and emotional attachment should you proceed with your opinions and facts and you should do so as briefly as possible so that the lengthiness of your explanations don’t confuse the one you are talking to.

Realize that just listening intently and smart questioning does not mean that you will convince another human that your opinion is valid but they will feel that you have respected their point of view by carefully listening and devoting your precious time to them.

Frequently saying that you agree with one or two points which a human is making will put that human in a more receptive mood to perhaps accept your point of view also.

Finally, if after listening to someone that you feel is wrong and will deny that they are wrong it is sometimes best to say nothing at all and move on to a different subject or end the conversation. If you are the boss and it is an employee whom you disagree with then of course you will have to deal with the problem head on to the best of your ability.

This blog is about listening and not about how to win an argument, confrontation, or discussion which requires more skills than just careful listening. If you are smart then you will become a better listener than a talker.

Good listeners are frequently more respected than good talkers because most humans think that what they have to say is important even though it is frequently boring trivia.

THE TRUTH ABOUT CRITICISM

dealing-with-criticism

Criticism: n. a communication with disapproval for too much deviation from normative standards of perfection and/or complete standards of perfection for a subset(s)

Almost all of us have been criticized for not looking good, not doing the right thing, or having an opinion or belief which is unacceptable or wrong. Our first reaction is usually very defensive and we frequently decide to defend ourselves or get very upset at the criticism.  When you criticize another human keep in mind that they may become very defensive and upset no matter how diplomatically you present that criticism.

There are certain things which you should keep in mind when offering criticism.

Don’t name call such as calling someone stupid, crazy, or incompetent for doing a stupid, crazy, or incompetent thing.

Instead ask a probing question and find out what made the human do the stupid, crazy, or incompetent thing. They may surprise you by giving a reasonable answer from their point of view and what they did may not seem so stupid, crazy, and incompetent as you initially thought. After getting a subjective personal answer you may still decide that objectively what they did was stupid, crazy, or incompetent so then offer a suggestion of what you would have done instead and find out if they agree with you.

If you are a boss then you can insist that they do what is right the next time but if it is a friend then you should accept their point of view and not try to force them to change their behavior the next time around.

If you are criticizing an opinion which is not a firmly held belief which you probably will never change then ask them to give reasons for the opinion if it is one that you disagree with.

What are the reasons why you feel that way? or What facts are you using to back up your opinion? are questions which will give you a better idea of why the opinion is being held. There may not be any facts to back up the opinion and it may simply be an impulsive feeling of being right. If this is the case then you can present facts or reasons why a differing opinion is in fact right and should be held.

There are other techniques which you can use to persuade a human that your opinion is the right one to have but you should realize that you may still fail to convince another that you are right and they are in fact wrong. If the opinion is not going to affect your life in any major way then let the opinion live and don’t try to destroy it by taking a very aggressive attitude towards it and starting unnecessary confrontations or arguments.

An attitude that I am right and you are wrong is frequently the wrong approach because as in most things in life neither you nor they are completely right or wrong but both are frequently partially right and partially wrong. There are many more shades of grey such as sometimes, frequently, and not always than just black or white, yes or no.

Criticizing looks is dangerous because no one wants you to say that outfit is ugly because they impulsively feel that you are calling them personally ugly. When criticizing give some valid factual reasons why you don’t like something first. It is not my favorite color, color combination, style, pattern, or print is much better than saying it is ugly, I hate it, it is terrible, and I can’t stand it.

If you have a reputation for being honest, sincere, dependable, and trustworthy then your critical opinion will have more impact than if you have a bad or unreliable reputation and are not trusted by another. Criticisms from someone that you like are not as offensive as criticisms from someone whom you don’t like.

17 THINGS WHICH HANDICAP OR PREVENT LOGICAL OR RATIONAL THINKING

Emotions_faces_web

Confirmation or similarity tendency (tendsim):n. a tendency for a human to agree and approve of  and want to interact with other humans with similar subsets

Humans generally like to agree with humans who have very similar or identical opinions, fears, and likes and agree with us. If humans disagree with us we feel uncomfortable, threatened, insecure, and annoyed that our ego, philosophy of life, opinions, fears, and pleasures are being challenged.

A result of this thinking makes us cling to one political party, one religion, one profession, and we generally like humans who also like our favorite sports teams or favorite pastimes. If you are like me then I will probably like you too no matter how illogically and irrationally you are behaving from an objective point of view.

An open minded individual is a rarity who tries to discover the objective truth in two or more differing opinions on the same subject or topic.

Ingroup tendency (tendingro):n. a tendency to want to be in and want to form stronger bonds with a group of humans with many similar subsets

We have an innate or inborn tribal instinct which helps us to form tighter bonds with our ingroup but it makes us suspicious, fearful, and disrespectful of other groups with different values and abilities. Many small ingroups listen to the same music, watch the same movies, the same TV shows, idolize the same celebrities, follow the same fashions, have similar party styles, and have a cliquishness about other rather trivial behaviors.

Rare is the individual with a global reference point who values global beliefs and activities and idolizes what is objectively good for most in the global community.

Gambler’s fallacy or predictive tendency (tendpred):n. a tendency to feel that past events and/or subsets will probably repeat themselves in the future also and especially the most recent events and/or subsets will continue into the immediate future

We tend to sense that past events have a large probability of also existing in the future. Thus if we flip a coin and it turns up heads 5 times in a row then we tend to sense that the next flip will be heads also even though the statistical probability is still 50/50. Also if we suddenly start to win there is an anticipation bias and we impulsively sense that we are winning now  and that we will also win in the near future which frequently turns out to be untrue. This is true of new relationships also where we impulsively believe that the new relationship will be better than a previous bad one even though we have not improved our personality or our job which would increase the probability of a good new relationship.

Justifying impulsive stupid or bad behavior (tendbajust): n. a tendency to justify bad and/or wrong behavior which frequently doesn’t have immediate severely bad consequences for the human

Make an impulsive expensive purchase or impulsively get angry at another human. After we do such impulsive actions we try to justify our actions since we were the ones making them and our selfrighteous ego does not want to admit that we made a mistake or did something bad.

Not being taught or not understanding mathematical probabilities (tendprob): n. a tendency to ignore probabilities in making decisions because of a bad habit and/or never having been taught to think probabalisticaly

Statistically driving a car is more dangerous than flying a plane which terrifies us more because of its infrequent use. A terrorist action terrifies us more than accidental poisoning or accidental injury from falling which is much more probable. We simply haven’t been taught statistical facts about the dangers in our lives and automatically judge the violent, infrequent, or strange action to be more dangerous than the common more probable dangers in everyday life.

Selective observation tendency (tendselob): n. a tendency to feel that an intensely observed subset(s) is now appearing with greater frequency in our lives and is not just coincidence which is the realistic explanation

We buy a new car and suddenly notice more of those same cars on the road, we become pregnant and suddenly notice more pregnant women, or we focus on a unique number or song and suddenly notice that it exists more frequently in our lives. Suddenly we erroneously feel that these are not mere coincidences but more frequent realities.

Status-quo tendency (tendstatquo):n. a tendency to want to remain or interact with habitual subsets and not want to change unless we sense that the status-quo no longer realistically works and/or is useful

Most of us sense that change is threatening so we try to maintain our old habits which can be the same political parties, the same favorite meals, the same TV programs, the same friends, the same spending habits, the same investment policies, etc. We all intuitively sense that reform or change is needed in education, in politics, in economics, and in our daily lives or routines but we just can’t seem to free ourselves of our conservative buts and make the necessary changes for the better.

Bad news tendency (tendbnews): n. a tendency to sense that bad news is more important than good news and usually because we fear that it could potentially worsen our own lives

We intuitively feel that bad news is more important than good news because fear of bad consequences which can potentially disrupt our life and make it worse is frequently more powerful an influence on our lives than good news which should be a pleasurable feeling but it doesn’t last as long in our minds.

The fear of getting shot by a criminal or becoming prey to a predator seems more important to the brain than tasting a good healthy apple.

An inherent desire to conform (tendcon): n. a tendency to want to conform to small and larger cultural groups

Fear of rejection, fear of criticism, and fear of disagreement with the majority are all powerful emotional reasons which bias us towards conformity with frequently small groups of humans and relatively large groups such as organizations, nations, or the world.

Projection or personal injection tendency (tendpinjection): n. a tendency to inject our personal (thoughts and/or sensing) and/or emotions into other people and impulsively believe that they have similar (thought and/or sensing) and/or emotional abilities and/or characteristics

We are trapped inside our minds 24/7 and most of us wrongly assume that other humans think like us and agree with us on important things and sometimes on not so important things. We impulsively inject our personal feelings, emotions, and thoughts into other humans.

Current moment tendency (tendcurmom): n. a tendency to make more impulsive bad decisions immediately which give us great pleasure and/or avoid great pain and make different frequently more logical decisions when we plan to purchase or do things at some point in the future

Pleasure now and pain later is the philosophy most of us are encouraged to live by in the media, business, and society because pleasure is what most of us chose to pursue in the moment. When asked to choose between chocolate or a fruit to eat right now most of us chose chocolate. We have a deceptive world of human leaders encouraging us to live for today and not worry about tomorrow and the results are devastating personal lives and relationships and destroying biodiversity worldwide.

Bandwagon effect or tendency towards numerical quantity (tendqunum): n. an inclination to believe and behave as most do in a subset of humans and/or a tendency towards a large quantity of a subset(s)

Herd instinct is another way of saying that most humans have a tendency to be cliquish or like to form interacting groups of humans who have a lot of characteristics in common. They frequently eat similar food, dress similarly, talk similarly, have approximately the same amount of wealth, have the same skin color or have similar body appearance, and have other pastimes and behaviors in common.  They tend to ostracize humans who don’t behave and look the way that they do and are considered unfair, unjust, biased, and even prejudiced by others.

Conservatism tendency (tendcon): n. resistance to change when given new facts which imply and/or prove a need for change and/or an inclination to believe in an old system of doing subsets

Humans have a tendency to be conservative in their lives which just means that they have established strong habits, good and bad, and are resistant to change. The new generation constantly challenges their parents “conservative” views and frequently find out sooner or later that many of the conservative views are actually useful in life and are based on many human interaction truths. The problem is that society is very irrational and too tied to historical bad habits or conservative ways of doing things and biodiversity is being devastated by this greatly inefficient largely irrational trivial behaving civilization.

Knowledge overload tendency (tendkuan): n. predominantly illogical irrational quantity knowledge accumulation which decreases logical thinking ability or the more you learn the stupider you get

Why do seemingly intelligent humans or humans with very good memories do such stupid things and can’t make reasonable logical decisions? The reason is inefficient rather trivial accumulation of knowledge and experiences with an illogical language. In the computer world much illogical garbage data in and you get garbage data out. Computer software only works perfectly if the logic behind it is perfect. Computers do not tolerate irrational garbage data which human civilization is swimming in and drowning in.

Tendessen: n. judging and/or categorizing a subset(s) based upon relatively few dominant stereotypes and/or characteristics and ignoring variations

Humans have a tendency to make fast judgments about other humans based on a few initial observations.  Humans speedily identify some obvious appearances and behavior characteristics and judge the whole human based on them. If the human looks unkempt we label him a slob, if he does a selfish behavior we label him selfish, if he does something rude we label him as a rude human who is also probably inconsiderate or anti-social, if she laughs much we label her as not being a very serious human, and if she talks too much we label her a gabber or self-absorbed.

First impressions are the most lasting because humans start or tend to make opinions about your personality rather quickly and if you start out by demonstrating many of your bad behaviors you will be labeled or stereotyped and it may take you a very long time to change a human’s bad stereotype impression of you.

Experimenter’s tendency (tendexper): n. an inclination for experimenters to believe, validate, and publish data which agree with their personal predictions for the conclusions of a new experiment and to disbelieve, destroy, or minimize in importance the data which opposes those personal predictions.

This human tendency to want to have experimental results match your personal predictions causes much junk science. Drugs theoretically designed to cure an illness are clinically tested and there is great economic incentive to prove that a drug can actually cure an illness. The realistic result is that frequently clinical data which does not suggest a cure is ignored and the data which shows minimum statistical significance is communicated as a cure which it is not. Even the humans in the tests are sometimes logically selected to increase the probability of positive clinical results. Fraud in clinical statistical “scientific” drug trials is rampant and most of the new drugs don’t cure anything but just result in bad side effects which are then treated with more drugs. A drug which cures 100% of clinical test patients is a rarity and very frequently statistics lie!!!!!!

Historical tendency (tendhist): n. an inclination to sense and validate future events as being predictable based on historical events.

In science historical precedent and proof is vital to its progress. In all other liberal arts professions historical precedent is mostly garbage precedent because it is based on an illogical past which doesn’t define any of the words used inaccurately but the words are merely verbose excursions into vague analogies which contain little truth about what should be done in the present or future. Historical psychiatry, psychology, sociology, economics, education, and language is unprovable brainwashing propaganda which is reinforced and propagated into the next generation based on herd instinct and desire to maintain a status quo based on historical precedent.

Normalcy tendency (tendnor): n. a refusal to plan for and/or react to a disaster which has never existed before

There is a great tendency for humans who have not experienced personal disasters to ignore potential probable disasters and so don’t plan for them until it is too late. Who planned ahead for a tsunami hitting the nuclear reactor in Japan? No one. Only after the fact or after a disaster are humans willing to do something about a disaster so that it won’t exist again!!!!!!

I hope we finally start planning ahead and don’t destroy biodiversity on this planet or human civilization is doomed!!!!!!

CONCLUSION: Humans are mostly ruled by their emotions where fear and pleasure seeking plays major roles in decision making and the result is that most of us have mostly bad irrational habits which we are struggling with and very few good habits which are contributing to a better life for us and society and the world. An archaic language motivates these emotional biases and is very illogical and its use is the primary reason why there is so much irrational trivial and destructive human behavior in this world.

HOW TO AVOID WHITE LIES

1337015250_excavator_demolition_fail

When we do something wrong or are having a difficult day it is a common human tendency to want to make a lying excuse for it or to try to conceal it with a lie.

We frequently habitually answer “I’m fine” when asked how you are doing even though we may have had a bad day and are stressed out. A truthful answer would be I’m having a rough day or I have problems to solve. If you answer truthfully then there is the possibility of a follow up question “How bad a day are you having?”

I frequently answer that I am having a great day even though I may have had some difficulties that day to strangers or humans such as bank tellers because even my bad days are great days because I am alive and have an optimistic attitude that I will resolve my problems sooner or later.

If asked how my day was from a family member or a close friend then that is the time I will honestly tell them what a problematic day I am having.

Instead of answering fine I say good, OK, or great day and don’t feel that I am lying because it signifies confidence and happiness even though you may have transient problems in your life which are never eternal.

Is it a white lie? Technically yes but realistically NO.

Many frequently answer “That was delicious” to a lousy meal at someone’s house which is visited. I frequently answer good but a little too spicy, a little too bland, or a little too sweet for my taste if asked to give an opinion on the bad meal.  At the very end when leaving just thank them for the meal but leave out great, delicious, or tasty. You don’t have to rave about a meal that was not personally tasty for you just to make someone feel good about themselves.

Not being punctual or not realizing that no one likes to waste their time and energy leads to many lies in the form of untrue promises. I’ll be there in two seconds when five minutes to a half hour is what you really mean to do. I’ll be ready in 5 minutes when you really mean much more time than that. I’ll be home in 5 minutes when you will take your sweet time and show up an hour late. “Sorry, I’m late” when you overslept or wasted time doing something else and not preparing to show up on time.

A real problem is the fact that humans do not schedule their lives or live it by the clock away from work and have a very casual attitude about the importance of time in other human’s lives. Most humans are not conscious about their time away from work and irresponsibly lie about it in their everyday lives without knowing it is a very bad inefficient habit.

“Sorry I missed your call” is frequently a lie because we don’t like the pestering or boring caller or had more important things to do. I don’t have boring or pestering callers as friends or acquaintances so I never run into this problem. If I have an unimportant call I don’t answer it and if I want to answer then I keep it short and sweet and don’t waste my time talking to someone unimportant in my life.

“I’ll do it tomorrow” is frequently the lie in the form of a promise of a procrastinator who does not want to fulfill his responsibility to do something in a timely way and when tomorrow comes he will try to delay it some more. If you have the time and are not honestly doing something more important then force yourself off your butt and do it right away and you won’t have to lie or procrastinate.

“Thank you so much. I just loved it!” is a lie designed to avoid hurt feelings about a bad gift and you may have been brainwashed by society into thinking that you are an insensitive jerk if you don’t lie. The truth is that you are being an insensitive ass kisser promoting further inappropriate gifts by the gift giver. It is much better to just honestly say “thank you but I will rarely be using it” to an inappropriate or bad gift.

“Yea, you look great in that dress” is a social lie which is supposed to prevent immediate arguments or bad feelings. The truth is that if you praise a bad looking dress you will get more of them the next time and your disappointment will increase in your life.

If I don’t like my wife’s dress I say it is OK but add that it is not my favorite style, not my favorite pattern, not my favorite color combination, the dress is too busy, or the dress could be more elegant. Make sure your wife knows what your favorite colors, patterns, and styles are and your chances will increase that she will gradually start to try to please you more the next time around. Honesty is the best policy and I haven’t angered by wife or been slapped for my honest comments on clothes so far nor do I expect to receive anger or to be slapped in the future.

If you do like a dress then instead of raving that its beautiful give a reason for your approval and say I like the color, the pattern, the style, the color combination, its sexy, or I like short sleeves. This way you will create the impression that you know a little about fashion and your opinion will be respected.

“If you don’t come with me now I will leave you here by yourself” is an irresponsible parental lie which tries to motivate a child through fear of abandonment. It is far better to say that “if you don’t come now I won’t take you out as frequently as I do” or “I won’t bring you here again for a long time” if you really mean it. You can motivate an offspring with fear but just be sure that it is a realistic fear and not a made up fear which is illogical and a lie.

White lies are just not worth doing if you want to be respected and admired by others, especially your offspring and have a reputation as being honest and sincere and not a deceiving liar. Humans will trust your opinions and benefit from your honest comments and not doubt that you are just saying nice things to make them feel good about themselves.

The white lies are frequently told to casual friends and acquaintances and it becomes a bad habit which you will start practicing on close friends and family with whom you should be honest all the time.  White lies done to make someone emotionally feel good which are not true make you seem like an undiscriminating fool who approves of everything.

WHY YOU SHOULDN’T ARGUE AT ALL

10435394-angry-isolated-couple-fighting-arguing

If you argue for entertainment or fun stop the bad habit because you will start unnecessary arguments impulsively with other humans when it is not appropriate.

Arguing with someone’s opinion which you disagree with will only lead to random emotional behavior which will waste time and energy without achieving a useful goal. You will not change a person’s mind with emotional righteousness and little logic but if you emphasize the important points with firmly said words you may succeed in updating their opinions which will adjust more with your own.

Don’t argue but try to discuss a topic as unemotionally as possible. If your opinion is weak and has only one or a few important provable facts use those to express disagreement. Permit your opponent to make the important points first and agree with the important ones which you also agree with. If you can’t answer an opinion with facts then remain silent and don’t push the topic further. Avoid as many arguments as you can because arguments frequently only express emotional disapproval and don’t solve any important problems.

There is no right method to argue or a wrong method to argue. All arguments are bad for you and your family and society. You will get angry at many things in your life but decrease anger as much as possible and count to 10 or even more until you are calm enough to continue a discussion and not an argument. If you can’t control your anger seek anger management help from a professional or start reading as much factual information as possible and not emotion filled literary works and hyped up emotional shows on TV and the media.

CONCLUSION: Arguing is verbal fighting or verbal abuse and one of you or both will get emotionally hurt by an argument. If you discuss any problem and use as many facts as you can come up with without getting emotional over it you will have a better chance of finding a solution. An attempted logical discussion, even if it fails, will not hurt your feelings as much and not leave you emotionally scared and wanting revenge or an apology.
