It is not too astounding that Trump is right about the crisis immigration situation in need of just laws and enforcement, right about the lopsided trade favoring many allies, China, and some foreign countries, right about the severe bias and even fake news of the left wing establishment media press, right about North Korea’s nuclear weapon’s threat, right about the do nothing stalemate of establishment Democrats and Republicans, generally right on gun use or control, right in wanting to reduce the oppressive size of government, etc.
Unfortunately, Trump is not very good at understanding the details involved in passing actual legislative laws and the details of foreign diplomacy and is not very willing to spend time learning the details and evaluating the opinions and facts of opposing views. Trump seems to be a talking president and not one that does a lot of serious thinking or analysis before he makes comments or decisions. He is an impulsive seat of the pants talker who gets easily offended and fights back with a vengeance.
His authoritative top down command tendencies and incredible balls and ego make it seem that he feels that he is a know it all who needs no advice or consultation on many issues. He is not one that inspires trust and loyalty from those who work under him and he is frankly not a typical politician skilled in the art of persuasion.
Even though his gut ideas and many statements are often valid he lacks loyal troops or political assistants who can effectively promote his desired policies and transform them into law. Trump is sometimes inconsistent in his demands or proclamations and sometimes leaves his supporters wondering how serious he is on some issues since he deviates from a pure dogmatic stance on some issues from time to time and seems unpredictable. Many times it seems that he is one man alone fighting against the old dysfunctional political, celebrity, and media establishment and that is why there is still some support among the rank and file common American.
Trump knows the value of publicity whether good or bad and has established himself as a larger than life individual who definitely has name recognition worldwide. Unless there is a stock market crash and the economy tanks, Trump will probably win reelection in 2020. In the meantime, try to enjoy the tumultuous political roller coaster ride while it lasts. The bureaucracy without all the supposedly needed leaders at the top is rolling along quite nicely and it is just proof that the president is merely a figurehead without much political control. Big money is still making most of the political decisions no matter what the president wants or says.

I no longer have the patience to wallow through verbosity and storytelling to try to make sense of some of life’s principles. However, I would recommend this book to someone who is confused in life and is having trouble making sense out of a seemingly chaotic life. That said I selected 6 of Peterson’s rules with a brief commentary on them.
Rule 3. Make friends with people who want the best for you.
Try to make friends with humans who have integrity, are trustworthy, dependable, competent, friendly, and motivate you to be even better than you are. Beware of humans with good intentions who seem to want the best for you but have their own faulty views of what is best to have in life or have their own axe to grind.
Rule 4. Compare yourself to who you were yesterday, not to who someone else is today.
This just means continue to improve yourself with research, reading, thinking, and doing on your road to the achievement of short and long duration goals. Comparing yourself to others is fraught with error or danger since very often you, your circumstances, and abilities are very different than those of others and comparisons are often pointless.
Rule 6. Set your house in perfect order before you criticize the world.
Your house will never be in perfect order in the long duration so if you lead a relatively happy and orderly life feel free to criticize the world and especially make suggestions on how to improve it but don’t be too dogmatic about your criticism.
A good place to start the critique is with yourself. Can you honestly say? If most humans lived the way that I live my life, then the world would be a better place to live in.
If more humans lived the way that you live your life, perhaps in unhappiness and desperation, then your critique of the world would not be that relevant.
Rule 8. Tell the truth—or, at least, don’t lie
To maintain integrity and trustworthiness, being honest, moral, dependable, and competent is essential, especially if you are interested in maintaining a good reputation in society and hope someday to assume leadership positions. Most relationships crash and burn when dishonesty is detected or it becomes a very dysfunctional relationship with much misery, uncertainty, and lack of security if the relationship stupidly continues without trust.
Trust is the human bond which makes long duration relationships possible and without trust relationships eventually become very unstable, chaotic, and end.
Rule 9. Assume that the person you are listening to might know something you don’t.
This is just a fact of life that even if you think that you know a lot, other humans will occasionally surprise you with useful knowledge that you never realized existed. Be a good listener but remember that it is OK to interrupt to change the subject or even end the conversation if it is boringly focusing on relatively trivial information.
Emotional intelligence is gotten by interacting with all kinds of humans, learning how to converse with them in discussion mode, and learning how to extract important information without sounding like an interrogator.
Rule 10. Be precise in your speech.
Speak efficiently is another way of putting it or be brief and to the point is another. I have spent a lifetime trying to define words logically since being precise is not a virtue of the English language with so many vaguely defined words and a confusing bonanza of multiple meanings, synonyms, antonyms, and dubious analogies.
Rule 1: Stand up straight with your shoulders back.
Rule 2: Treat yourself like someone you are responsible for helping.
Rule 5: Do not let your children do anything which makes you dislike them.
Rule 7: Pursue what is meaningful (not what is expedient).
Rule 11: Do not bother children when they are skateboarding.
Rule 12: Pet a cat when you encounter one on the street.
If these other 6 rules of life which I skipped peaked your interest then buy and read his book. It seems he may even have a sense of humor which you might enjoy.
Frankly there is much more to life that is important than these 12 principles but he is a typical psychologist whose mind is not very analytical and logical but bases most of his views on mostly subjective information which he has read about in his career and personal subjective experiences and values.

Theory: n. a principle(s) which tries to explain a set of facts and/or fictions
Except for theoretical physics of the very large or very small, science theory has been proven factually and mathematically accurate in describing the physical universe which we exist in. There are also many unproven theories about unique lifeforms and paranormal events.
With doubtful photographic or audio evidence which surfaces every so often there are theories about alien spacecraft, sasquatches, and near death experiences theoretically highly suggesting that there is an afterlife.
Horoscopes are popular theoretical mythology. There are unproven theories about religious symbols such as angels, God, Christ, and saints appearing in conscious visions to special individuals with something to say or show them. The modern explanation is to call the visions hallucinations.
Unprovable supernatural theories are abundant and are a testimony to the rich imaginations of their supporters who have their own small groups of believers and followers who sometimes form cults to pursue their ideosyncratic beliefs.
Theories are really beliefs about how the real world works and since mythology is part of common human experience and human behavior is affected by it there are many deceptive beliefs of how the real world really works which are not really true but hidden lies.
It is my lifelong goal to reveal these hidden lies or deceptions or theories with the truth as I and soon many more will see it. The pursuit of truth is a never ending quest from generation to generation because so much mythology is transferred or indoctrinated by the old generation to the new generation.

Nature: n. the universe especially the earth and the forces and principles which rule 100% of the subsets
Long after humans cease to exist the universe will continue to flourish with the forces and principles which govern it. Nature ultimately determines who or what will be created and who or what will die. The laws of Nature are more powerful than the laws of humans and if we do not learn to incorporate the laws of nature into human behavior then we will suffer dire consequences in the long duration.
Nature rewards the healthy, smart, and efficient with healthy, smart, and efficient future generations and if humanity continues to promote the unhealthy, not so smart, and inefficient then it will be punished by nature in the long duration.
Human morality must reflect what nature wants and a new updated human secular morality is a must if we are not to repeat the blunders of human history. That updated secular morality which should be taught to all impressionable young minds is except in emergency situations- don’t destroy biodiversity, don’t lie, don’t be inefficient, don’t steal, don’t commit adultery if married, and don’t murder!
Nature is biodiverse and efficient and if humans are to interact voluntarily in peaceful ways with one another then they should not lie, steal, commit adultery or murder each other. Break these basic guiding rules too frequently and social cohesion will disintegrate and the environment will be irreparably damaged.
Science will never prove the need for human morality so it is largely intuitive and based on a long history of human trial and error and getting to better understand how nature truly works with the help of scientific investigation.
Relativistic ethics or situation ethics is a colossal failure and it is being reflected in the disintegration of family life and the general psychological sickness of many citizens who are leading dysfunctional social lives. Psychologists and psychiatrists are very poor replacements for moral teachers and are failing miserably at their responsibility to keep society as moral as possible.
I believe in and have a passion for nature and a new updated secular morality. If you think it makes much sense then join me in my quest to improve the world for humans and let wildlife live according to time tested rules for survival.
The world has a moral and environmental crisis and it is time to take logical steps to solve the crisis before it dooms humanity in the long duration. Without a common belief in morality humans become lying, thieving, murdering savages and without biodiversity and efficiency the environment becomes an unhealthy poisoned polluted earth to live on.
Nature knows best and if we don’t live by its basic principles then it will destroy us or replace us with more efficient species.
