THE TRUTH ABOUT UNFULFILLMENT*

2

Unfulfillment: n. a promise which is not achieved

How many promises have been made to you in your lifetime and they fell through or were unfulfilled? Or how many times have you promised yourself that you will do something and don’t?

This unfortunately is the fate of many who associate with promising humans who frequently don’t do what they said they will do and it is always a disappointment large or small.

If you find yourself getting involved with a promise breaker then seriously consider abandoning the relationship which will only cause much disillusionment and disappointment in the foreseeable future.

An unfulfilled promise is really a lie about the future and you want no part of a habitual liar or habitual promise breaker or one who is guilty of unfulfillment!

You can also make promises to yourself that you will follow your dreams or do something which you feel should have been done a long time ago. Some call this unfulfilled desire or hope but it is really a personal promise to do something in the future for yourself. Fail and you have an unfulfilled personal promise which can have a devastating effect on your psyche. Lying to others is bad enough but lying to yourself can be even worse.

WHAT TO SAY INSTEAD OF THESE 5 WHITE LIES!!!

white_lies_logo_5

Many humans are embarrassed at their bad memories for names and will sometimes lie and say “Oh, yea I remember you.” Instead say “You look very familiar but I’m afraid your name escapes me for the moment. What is it again?” This is a far more honest answer to an embarrassing situation.

If you are a respected leader in an important authoritarian position then you won’t last long with a bad memory for names and never stay in that important leadership position with this white lie approach.

How many times have you heard the expression “I love it!” especially coming from women and girls who exaggerate reality just to make someone feel good about themselves and their choices. I love that dress, jewelry, handbag, shoes, swimwear, etc. demonstrating a total lack of standards of quality. They also expect to hear those same words from the men in their lives who may not approve or have a dislike but are desperate just not to hurt the feelings of a significant other.

A dress is either OK, you like it, it’s sexy, like it much, and don’t like something about it. Almost no one falls in love with a dress, etc. for a long duration and it is just a momentary expression of extreme exaggerated lying approval.

What I like to say is something good about the dress or any other item which I am commenting on if it is not totally my favorite. I like the pattern, it has nice symmetry, the color combination is nice, the style is good, the cut of the dress is fine, it is sexy enough, or it has eye appeal.

But I never fail to point out what I may not like about it too by saying it is a little bit too busy, the color combination could be better, it is too asymmetric, it is not my favorite color, the style is too formal or informal, and the pattern is not one of my favorites, it is too sexy, the style is a little dated, the cut is too high or too low to be one of my favorites, I liked your previous dress better, it’s for an older or younger woman, etc.

Be honest but in a nice way and say in a discriminating fashion what you like about it the most and what you consider some of its flaws. It’s beautiful or ugly shows a lack of logical discriminating ability which is unfortunately rampant in this society so determined to be liked or so determined not to emotionally hurt someone.

“I am busy that day.” When your schedule is blank is another unnecessary white lie. Say instead “I have other plans that day.” Which is more honest because there is a high probability that if you like to do much and are busy on a moment’s notice sometimes then it is a totally believable more honest excuse and you may be making new plans for that time slot in a few hours or days.

“I totally forgot to do that thing you asked me to do.” If you didn’t forget then it is the sign of a liar who doesn’t fulfill promises and will not be liked for it and your reputation as a dependable person will begin to be destroyed. Instead if you honestly forgot to fulfill a promise then say “I am very sorry and apologize and promise that I will not let it happen another time.” If you don’t intend on fulfilling a promise then don’t make it in the first place and avoid having to make up some phony excuse for not fulfilling the promise.

Saying “I’m fine.” When you are not is another white lie not worth making. Humans can frequently sense by your tone of voice, body language, and facial expression that there is something troubling you and putting up a false front will create suspicions that you lie about your feelings and once again a suspicion of dishonesty will only hurt your reputation in the long duration. Say instead “I am not fine right now but I will get over it soon or by tomorrow.”

White lies are dishonesty in action and if you don’t get personally physically or emotionally scarred by lying then your reputation will definitely suffer in the long duration and almost no one will want to become a loyal respectful friend of yours in the long duration.

THE TRUTH ABOUT REASSURANCE+

????????????????????????????????????????????????????

Reassurance: n. promising and communicating frequently to create confidence in another human(s)

Offspring sometimes have fears of the dark, of being abandoned, and of imaginary monsters. Parents sometimes have to reassure them by promising that nothing bad will happen and have to repeat this over and over again.

Politicians also make promises trying to create confidence in humans that they are the best choice for solving their problems. Reassurance or repeating the same promise over and over again may brainwash some into believing the promise or promises but realistically most are rather cynical and know that many of those promises will not be fulfilled.

Many humans, especially timid ones, need much reassuring to convince them to change their behavior for the better if there is some danger involved. Fear of the unknown or fear of something new and strange may be so great that no amount of reassuring will cause them to do what you think should be done.

THE TRUTH ABOUT OATHS+

Constitutional Oath of Elena Kagan

Oath: n. a usually legal promise to be truthful in one’s communications and/or actions (eg. “I promise to do what is truthful and communicate the truth so help me mother nature(s) and god.”)

An oath is really a promise to be truthful in one’s communications and/or actions and is almost always used in court before a trial. If you willfully and fraudulently steal the truth or lie after an oath then it is considered perjury and there is punishment for it.

Your personal truth may not be legal truth so you can make an oath to do illegal things based on your subjective definition of what truth is. Your religious truth may be to treat women as men’s servants or property with fewer rights so if you make an oath to lead a marriage according to religious principle you may in fact be disobeying the laws of the nation. It is an illegal promise to be truthful.

Lying about a human in public, especially in print or digitally, may be considered libelous and potentially subject to court action but most private and social lies are not subject to prosecution in court and the only punishment which is usually given is social ostracism.

“I swear to tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth” is really a promise not to lie. Your reputation is in jeopardy if you do lie after such a promise.

An oath in modern times may merely be the judge or some judicial authority asking-Do you promise to tell the truth? A simple answer of yes is considered to be an oath to tell the truth.

Politicians lying in public can sometimes get away with it because they are in powerful positions and who is going to sue the president for libel or a senator for libel? If fellow politicians don’t have the moral courage to sue the lying offenders then who can realistically sue?

Presidents and senators frequently make promises which they don’t fulfill after getting in office and some of these promises can actually be considered important lies about the future. That is why politicians are increasingly making politically correct promises which are so general that they can’t be contested. Fear of being too dogmatic on issues with polarized views is what keeps many politicians in a non committal position as much and as long as possible.

If you are the president or a senator and facts surface which prove that you lied then obviously your reputation is in the toilet and it is time to try and elect the next potentially deceptive and/or lying politician whose reputation  is still considered intact or good.

Flip flopping by politicians on issues may be considered a lie by many dogmatic believers or it can be justified as a rethinking of one’s position and changing it due to new circumstances or beliefs. Admitting that you changed a political position on an issue is sometimes necessary in modern politics because change is sometimes preferable to no change at all. Local political promises sometimes clash with national political promises which have to appeal to a national audience with national norms and not local norms.

There is also an oath to defend the constitution which is a promise to conform to its principles without misrepresentation or lying about it. It should really be called a constitutional oath which is different than a court oath. Normative changes in society can influence judicial decisions and what is really needed is constitutional change which clearly spells out the legal rights of its citizens if a change in those rights is desirable to fit social and economic reality.

My evergreen truth book New United States Constitution gives suggestions on how to change the constitution to better make it fit social and economic reality so that the updated principles of the constitution can more justly be enforced without the need for as much political bias in court decisions.

PARENTING BRIEFLY SUMMARIZED!!!

picture-for-parent-blog-2

REARING VERY YOUNG OFFSPRING IS JUDICIOUSLY USING BRIBES AND THREATS OR REWARDS AND PUNISHMENTS!!!

Young offspring rearing and offspring rearing in general is promises of rewards which could be called bribes, and rewards for accomplishments but not generally for good behavior which should be expected and enforced with threats of punishment or withdrawal of privileges.

There are also punishments which are the withdrawal of privileges and threats of punishment or threats to withdraw privileges. For very young offspring the threat of a spanking or actual spanking may also be used to curb serious violence, lying, and stealing.

A privilege can also be considered a reward and/or right to do something at almost any time or frequently. Withdrawing or threatening to withdraw the reward and/or right may be considered to be a form of punishment.

The best way to motivate offspring to behave well is with appropriate praise for good behavior and verbal condemnation for misbehavior. When the positive approach with motivating words fails then unfortunately privilege withdrawal or other forms of punishment may be necessary.

If you include hugs and kisses as rewards or signs of love and affection then this is definitely a plus but even more important is demonstrating the love and affection for spouse in front of the offspring.

The line between rewards and privileges is sometimes vague but here is a likely list for relatively young offspring:

PARTIAL LIST OF REWARDS:

Favorite food (not including sweets or the occasional desert),

time to play with a favorite or special toy,

playing a video game

going to the park

horsey ride

going out to eat fast food

going to the zoo

going to the library

fishing trip

money in piggy bank

wearing dress up clothes

making mud pies

PARTIAL LIST OF PRIVILEGES OR RIGHTS:

going to friend’s houses whenever they want

supervised computer use

listening to a bedtime story

riding on a bicycle with mom or dad

staying up late

setting the table

going to a movie with a friend

sleeping in a different place in the house

playing outside

bouncing on a bed

feeding a pet

making noises with pots, pans, rattles, or bells

riding a tricycle

going outside at night

PUNISHMENTS:

Isolation in the bathroom or closet for a period of time such as 10 minutes

Sitting in a chair or on the couch for a period of time such as 10 minutes

Box lunches instead of school cafeteria food (if you give organic food in box lunches then it is really a reward and not a punishment)

Staying indoors or an early curfew before the usual 9 pm deadline

Taking away a special or favorite toy for a few days or week

Taking away a daily privilege for a day, a few days, or week.

Offspring will sometimes refuse to eat the food given or prepared and they should not be bribed with the promise of sweets or desert if they eat the meal. The best recourse is to just say, no food until tomorrow or breakfast. Children will not starve if denied one or two meals and usually when they are really hungry they will eat almost anything given.

It is the responsibility of parents to develop good habits as early as possible.

As early as possible offspring should be introduced to a wide variety of food so that they learn to eat fruits, vegetables, and meat in a balanced way. Milk, natural juices, and water should be emphasized as drinks.

As early as possible offspring should be taught the joys of reading by reading to them physical or online books and introducing them to the alphabet and numbers with alphabet and numbers toys or blocks. If you want your young offspring to be interested in school or learning then you have to start early at home introducing them into the world of learning from books and computers.

Neatness and orderliness should start young and a time to put away toys should become a daily accepted routine.

Most modern plastic toys are trivial crap which doesn’t teach anything useful so stick to physical construction toys, vehicles, planes, cars, trucks, dolls, action figures, animals, small plastic houses, appliances, tools, and geometrical shapes with different sizes. The more the real world is reflected in toys the better toys they are.

THE TRUTH ABOUT MANIPULATION***

methods-of-manipulation

Manipulation: n. deceptively changing a human(s)’ mind(s) and/or behavior(s) frequently for personal benefit

Politicians, advertisers, brokers, and spouses sometimes cleverly manipulate the emotions of a human(s) for personal benefit. Making promises that they don’t intend to keep or feeding misleading information can cause someone to change their mind and/or behavior to their detriment later on.

A politician may get you to vote for them but not keep his promises, an advertiser may get you to buy a product which you regret having purchased later on, a broker may convince you to buy or sell a stock just to get a commission, or a spouse may convince you that they were not unfaithful when actually they were.

Manipulation is frequently deceptively feeding you half truths which sound plausible but will actually hurt you in some way if you go through with their suggestions. Most successful manipulations manipulate your fears and basic desires to get you to do something which you frequently regret later on.

You can also be rarely deceptively manipulated into doing something which benefits you or is good for you but that is the exception to the rule and is a rarity. Parents sometimes try to manipulate offspring with promises that eating something healthy will make them strong or beautiful and it sometimes works on young impressionable believing offspring.

If something sounds too good to be true then chances are great that you are being manipulated and will regret it if you follow through with it. The media and society is filled with manipulators and the probability that most of your opinions and beliefs are actually products of manipulation are great.

Read my evergreen truth blogs and you will gradually lose most of the social deceptions which you believe in.

THE TRUTH ABOUT THREATS***

???????????????????????????????????????????????????

Threat: n. a communication with a promise(s) to do a subset(s) which is frequently a punishment judged by a human(s) recipient to be (bad and/or wrong) and/or (immoral and/or sometimes an incentive for action(s)) and most of samer promise(s) create fear

We are sometimes threatened by a boss with job loss, threatened with divorce by a spouse, threatened with violence by an abusive spouse, threatened by a stalker, and an offspring may threaten to leave home. There are also criminal business threats and bullying in and out of school with miscellaneous threats to life and limb.

Criminal threats are the violent threats but some are hard to prove and prosecution against such threats is rather difficult in many cases.

Blackmail, extortion, and a threat to strike are just a few examples of the way that threats arise in society.

An employee may threaten to leave a job, a close friend may threaten you with the loss of friendship, and a parent may threaten offspring with punishment.
Threats are sometimes used as a last resort when peaceful human interaction fails and usually a threat of punishment of some kind is used to motivate humans to alter their behavior.

Almost no one likes to be threatened but if the threat is not an illegal threat of violence it is something which we come across from time to time and parents frequently have to threaten offspring to get them to behave. The threat of withdrawing a greatly desired privilege as punishment is sometimes very effective in successfully altering behavior.

The implied threat of a fine or imprisonment is what keeps most away from criminal behavior and gets us to pay our taxes.

Loss of a good reputation or ostracism is a looming threat if we do not behave morally.

Cyber threats are a real danger to individuals, businesses, the military, and infrastructure like electrical grids. It is the primary reason why we surf the web cautiously and utilize what we think are security software and precautions to try and avoid cyber threats.

Implied and actual threats which create fear in society is the glue which keeps most humans from illegality and immorality. Take away the fear of punishment from society and it would run wild with dysfunctional and criminal behavior.

11 IMPORTANT SOCIAL TRUTHS ABOUT HUMAN NATURE: PART 10

healthy-people-beach

No-one is ever poor who has the sight of his eyes, the use of his feet, and a healthy brain

This is an optimistic way of looking at poverty. No matter how poor you are, if you have good food and good health, you are fortunate.

You can fool humans some of the time, but you can’t fool them all of the time.

Another way of putting it is that you can try to lie to humans some of the time but if you lie to them too frequently then they will no longer believe you. There is an exception even to this general principle because you can lie to lottery players that they will get megabucks and no matter how many times they lose they still will be fooled into thinking that they can win the jackpot the next time around.

A promise is a debt

This is an interesting way of looking at a promise because promising means fulfilling an obligation at some point in the future and a debt is similar because it is also an obligation to be paid back at some point in the future.

Food is no more important than wisdom.

Without food you die so it is a higher priority or more important than wisdom.  You can live without much wisdom and still survive with food.

When in Rome do as the Romans do.

When living in a foreign culture try to behave like they expect you to behave.  You can also be yourself, but expect to be looked at in a suspicious way.

In politics we presume that everyone who knows how to get votes, based on looks and eloquence, knows how to administer a city or a state.  When we are ill.. we do not ask for the handsomest physician, or the most eloquent one.

It is a fact of modern political life that the best looking smooth talking politicians get the people’s votes and true qualifications for the job seldom enter the picture. This is the bad result of a social glorification of beauty and not smarts.

No one is truly free, they are a slave to wealth, fortune, the law, or other people restraining them from acting according to their will.

The truth is that we are only free to function within the limits set by our finances, laws, and acceptable social behavior.

Four snippets of good advice:

1.     If at first you don’t succeed, there is a reason why and until you figure out that reason, you will not succeed.

 2.     If you want to succeed at something that requires an excellent memory or an inborn talent, you will not succeed no matter how hard you try and you might burn yourself out in the fruitless effort.

 3.     If you struggle with a situation, but never learn the underlying lesson or never learn to avoid it, it will come back to you over and over again until you learn to deal with it or avoid it.

 4.     If you think your life is just okay, then you still have more to learn about how you really should be living and experiencing life.
