UPDATED TRUTH ABOUT RESPECT!!!

Respect: v. to sense and frequently communicate that a human has (much value and/or moral goodness) and/or (much skill(s) in a (profession and/or activity)) and/or is experienced and has few severe personality flaws and the human is dependable

Basically we respect moral humans who don’t lie to us or deceive us, don’t steal from us, don’t commit adultery, don’t have severe personality flaws, and are dependable.

A car mechanic may be an expert in his or her field but if they are not moral and cheat us on repairs then we will not respect them and go elsewhere for car repairs.

Some erroneously may idolize wealthy and powerful humans who may not be that moral but have a profound influence in our lives. Powerful leaders and tyrants who are immoral are feared by many and it seems that they are respected also but the respect or more accurately an awareness is an ambivalent “respect” and fear of power and not a respect of the leader’s moral goodness.

We may not approve of or respect the Chinese political system but we are impressed by their economic power and are forced to deal with it. This realization is not true respect for the entire country but a “respect” for their ability to succeed economically in the world even though they are major counterfeiters of brand named products and steal patents and intellectual property with abandon.

We don’t truly respect them but rather fear their economic system and its power to put established companies and workers out of business.

The United States is also no longer being as respected worldwide because they have lost their moral rudder and with it respect. American international companies bribe national governments to get favorable treatment and American international banks are stealing taxpayer’s money and creating huge deficits which will probably never be paid off by future generations.

Big business through special interest legislation is killing off the potential success of small new businesses and decimating the middle class. The middle class is also being killed off by the technological revolution which is robotizing, using the internet, standardizing parts, and effectively killing many jobs with superior computer software.

The big inefficient American economy and government is also morally unjust and is not as respected as it once was.

The American secular class has also lost its respect and moral rudder to guide it and the result is failed marriages, poor social relationships, and a hedonistic approach to life. Too many Americans are lying, deceiving, and committing adultery. Family life and many human relationships are disintegrating.

With an emphasis on making money for money’s sake without a moral rudder, mental and physical health is deteriorating because of unhealthy lifestyles, unhealthy food, and the over use of artificial drugs by the medical and psychiatric professions.

Unhealthy, immoral citizens, and unjust political laws are bankrupting the medical and social welfare system and adding to the national debt.

Morality and respect begins by teaching young impressionable minds what is moral behavior and it eventually is reflected in the kind of human leadership that we get in powerful organizations. Without this impulsive morality practiced by most citizens the result is chaos and eventual tyranny or dictatorship which governs by the threat of force and the use of force and not rule by the voluntary trusting cooperation of its citizens.

The new secular worldwide MORAL CODE which should be practiced to bring back true respect in the world is- in nonemergency situations -don’t destroy biodiversity, don’t lie, don’t be inefficient, don’t steal, don’t commit adultery if married, and don’t murder!!!!!!

One way to be respected is to be good at your profession or job. Many doctors, lawyers, and car mechanics are good at their professions and are respected for their expertise. The reason that some in the professions are not respected is that they behave immorally, lie, deceive, steal, and are incompetent. The more immorality is permitted within a profession, the more disrespected the profession becomes.

If you can trust someone and they are dependable then chances are that you can also respect them because lying or being undependable can frequently ruin trust and with it respect.

If someone is immoral or lies, steals, or is adulterous then they will lose respect.

If you are deceitful which is hidden lying then you will also lose respect once your deceit is uncovered or revealed.

If you break or don’t fulfill many promises then you will not be respected because it is a form of lying about the future and being undependable.

If you are not sincere or nice but hurt human feelings too frequently by being rude, inconsiderate, using ridicule, insulting, name calling, using put downs, humiliating, being quarrelsome, and cruel then you will definitely lose some respect. These are personality flaws which show a disrespect of others. This verbal aggression just like physical aggression seldom has beneficial results.

If you are unjustly critical, a backstabber, spiteful, a name caller, don’t give credit where credit is due, greedy, very lazy, a racist, promiscuous, boastful, vain, or have other severe personality flaws which many humans don’t like then respect for you will decrease though maybe not always to zero.

If you are a tyrannical boss then you will be feared but not respected by most humans.

CONCLUSION:

If you are honest, sincere, dependable, competent, and friendly without severe personality flaws then you will be respected and even admired by most humans. In many cases respect is not automatic but it must be earned with a history of respectful behavior. A history of respectful behavior is really a good reputation and a good reputation is something every moral citizen should aspire to or work towards.

THINGS TO CONSIDER WHEN TRYING TO CHANGE SOMEONE’S OPINION WITH PERSUASION!!!

Opinion: n. communicating a relatively weak transient belief which is subject to change if confronted by (logical reasoning and/or experiences) and/or respected authority figures which nullify samer belief

Persuasion: n. getting agreement that a goal(s) is worth achieving

Before you try to change someone’s opinion it is best to stop and ask yourself three basic questions-

Is the human important enough in my life?

Is the opinion that I want to change going to benefit me and/or the another human in some way?

Is the opinion important enough in my life to spend my time, energy, effort, and maybe even money trying to change the opinion?

If the answer to the three questions is yes then go ahead and try to change the opinion.

If the answer is no then you are wasting your time, energy, effort, and maybe even money trying to change an opinion which should be left alone in the first place.

Persuasion is called an art because humans are different and what may persuade one human may not persuade another even if you use all the recommended persuasive tactics or tricks suggested by others.

There are general principles of persuasion which optimize the probability of success in changing another’s opinion but it is not a sure thing so my suggestions are merely ballpark approximations to what should be done to change someones’s opinion.

In general you will be more persuasive if you are

liked,

respected as an authority figure,

use factual or real examples to support your opinion, and

customize your opinions to the real life experiences and feelings of the human that you are trying to persuade.

Changing someone’s opinion is easier than changing someone’s basic beliefs but it is always easier to do if there is some personal benefit which can come from a change in opinion. If your persuasion will lead to someone saving time, energy, and money and even feeling happy about the change then it could be a worthwhile persuasion.

Try to change an opinion if you come from a position of authority or respect and are either known to have expertise on the subject or have a relatively close trusting relationship with the person whom you are trying to persuade.

Historical precedents are important because if something has worked before or is working well now then chances are frequently pretty good that it will work in the future too. Also appeal to experts or testimonials if you want to back up your persuasive powers with influential humans who have the same opinion.

Personality types will also affect your persuasive ability and it might be wise to determine whether a human is very dogmatically inclined on a subject or is malleable and open to differing views on the subject. If you feel there is a great emotional investment or emotional attachment then opposing that opinion may only lead to an argument or a strong denial.

Not so obvious is that it is very important WHOM you are trying to persuade. Is it your boss, employee, customer, friend, date, spouse, offspring, stranger, team, or audience whom you are trying to persuade?

Business persuasion is very different than trying to impress or persuade your date what a good potential mate you will be and persuading an audience has its own unique skill set. Google and find out what are the unique ways of persuading each category of humans. You will only find general principles covered in this blog.

Unless it is a close friend or spouse generally stay away from attempts to change a religious, political, or sports opinion which can quickly escalate into an undesirable argument and standoff.

WHAT you are trying to persuade a human of is also very important. There are factual persuasions and very subjective personal persuasions about politics, religion, sports odds, and aesthetics which are very frequently excursions into futility because the highly emotional beliefs or opinions are so strong and seldom subject to change or persuasion. Sometimes facts or statistics are coupled with strong emotional biases or feelings about what the facts really mean and a strictly logical approach to try and persuade may not be sufficient to reach a persuasive agreement.

If changing an opinion may result in an immediate or future pay increase then persuasion can lead to good personal benefits and should be pursued.

For an overloaded working mom it can be beneficial to try and persuade the husband to get more involved in doing household chores and share the burden or responsibility. The husband may have an opinion that cleaning the house and cooking is women’s work so she will probably have to come up with a lot of convincing examples of working couples sharing the household workload.

Janitor men clean and men chefs cook so you can argue that cleaning and cooking is not just women’s work. Yes, historically stay at home moms took care of the house and offspring but times have changed so mutual effort is now the smart thing to do.

Trying to change human opinions as a public speaker is much harder than changing a one on one opinion where you can get immediate feedback from the one that you are trying to persuade or convince. Public speaking is persuading from a distance and that requires additional skills which don’t have to be used in one on one persuading which entails a lot of questioning, feedback, and two way discussion in general.

In one on one persuasion it is very important to do most of the listening and only short and sweet head nods and brief responses showing respect for the others opinions. Using phrases such as “I know where you are coming from” and “That makes a lot of sense” shows a respect for another’s opinions.

Asking probing questions to determine all the pros and cons of the situation and probing for possible objections to your point of view are also important because they will have to be addressed and in doing so you may uncover some flaws in your point of view which will need attention or change. There is seldom a perfect opinion and yours may have some flaws too which you should admit to and hopefully correct.

Try not to be overly confident, aggressive, and don’t proselytize with a basic viewpoint that you are a know it all. This will automatically put the listener in a defensive mode with a tendency to disagree or say no to whatever you may have to say. Try to stay calmly in discussion mode and not in intense argument or debate mode.

Sometimes partial agreement is better than no agreement at all. We are really talking about the art of compromising here so there is a win win situation for both even though one or both parties don’t get everything that they wanted. Sometimes it is even smart to agree to disagree and leave the issue unresolved for the time being.

Use statistical consensus if it exists in what you are trying to persuade because many people are motivated by the herd instinct and want to frequently be in the majority with their opinions. This approach can be dangerous with teenagers since peer pressure is a statistical consensus or what the majority is doing. If the majority is using drugs of some kind then this does not mean that you should be doing it also.

Very briefly,

if someone likes you,

if you are an expert or authority figure,

if you do them a favor first,

if many have been persuaded already,

if they have made a commitment, and

if scarcity is emphasized then you are more likely to persuade successfully, especially if you are trying to persuade someone into buying something.

Before trying to persuade someone you have to assess

who you want to persuade,

about what,

how you will persuade, and

when you will attempt persuasion.

Whom do you want to persuade?

If you are in a position of authority over someone then you will have more success in persuading that person. If you are the boss with expertise then you may be very persuasive about job related issues but not necessarily in topics or opinions outside the job sphere.

If you are a parent authority figure then you will have a greater probability of persuading your offspring even though realistically you may occasionally have to use some coercion or the threat of punishment to get them to do what you want.

If you have expertise in a field or are in a position of authority then your relevant opinions will be more respected and your persuasive powers will be greater.

You will probably also be better able to persuade your spouse or close friend with whom you have an honest, sincere, and trusting relationship. Close associates who may admire and respect you will usually be more persuaded by you than if you try to persuade total strangers or casual friends.

If you use authority figure opinions or statistics which show that most humans believe or behave a certain way then you will be more persuasive because most humans generally respect authority and want to be accepted as part of the majority or don’t want to seem like loners.

What do you want to persuade about?

You must also realize that persuading one to change a strong religious, political, or sports belief or a strong opinion will be almost impossible and not worth the effort. It is much different if you are trying to persuade someone to buy information, goods, or services from you where a human may actually have a desire, need, want, or interest in what you are selling or offering.

Persuading your spouse to do something at home like taking out the garbage out on a regular basis, spending more time with offspring, or doing you a big favor is possible but you may have to do something in return to be persuasive enough.

If you are trying to persuade someone then assess whether the persuasion will lead to mutual benefit in some way. If you can demonstrate that you gain something more than just a boost to your ego and the human whom you are trying to persuade will gain something good by being persuaded then the probability of being persuasive goes up greatly.

Before you begin to persuade first ask whether there will be any benefits for one party or both if the persuasion is successful or goes through.

How will you persuade?

If you compliment or boost someone’s ego and make them emotionally feel good first then you will often have more success with your persuasive attempts.

If you first probe the possible responses or opinions of the one whom you are trying to persuade and listen carefully to what they have to say, then you may put yourself in a better strategic position and be able to fine tune your persuasive attempts to the needs, desires, and wants of the human. After listening carefully to the initial responses or opinions you may decide that persuasion may be a waste of time.

If you are confident, enthusiastic, and communicate clearly and understandably then you will be more persuasive.

If you use real life examples in the human’s life or your own to try and prove your point then you will be more successful in persuading. If you can relay an interesting story which backs up your point of view then you will be more convincing in your persuasive attempts.

If you have documented facts then you will sometimes be more persuasive.

If you have thoroughly analyzed a problem or problems with the pros and cons and have plausible solutions to them backed up by facts then you should be more persuasive.

If you can demonstrate or show that something bad or terrible will happen if the human is not persuaded then you may be a more successful persuader.

Remember that threatening someone into doing something rather than persuading them will get results if you are in a position of authority but the human adult whom you are threatening into doing something may not be persuaded that it was the right thing to do and may resent your coercive action and their respect for you may decrease.

When should you persuade?

It should be obvious that if you are trying to persuade a human and they are too tired or too busy then you will have to pick another time to try and persuade. Also persuasion sometimes requires persistence and you may have to frequently try to persuade sometimes using a slightly different approach each time and the time that it may take before being successful may be a week, month, or even a year.

If there is a sense of urgency created in the one that you are trying to persuade then they are more likely to respond more quickly and affirmatively and this applies more to selling something to someone.

Here is an attempt at changing your teenager’s opinion that marijuana usage is not a big thing since so many humans are into it and has become legal in Colorado.

Ask some probing questions first.

Do you think a person has the right to do with his body whatever he or she wishes including drugs?

Do you think marijuana is habit forming for some?

Do you think regular marijuana usage does not affect job performance or thinking? (back this up with factual research)

Do you think that marijuana usage and excessive alcohol usage simultaneously will cause greater driving impairment?

Do you think minors should be able to use marijuana?

Do you think parents who use marijuana a lot will be bad role models for their offspring?

Do you know that excessive marijuana usage by minors results in psychological problems and bad performance in school? (back this up with factual research)

Would you let your 4 year old smoke marijuana? Why not?

Is marijuana a gateway to more addictive drugs? (not an established fact but a more probable yes)

Sometimes black market marijuana is laced with shitty chemicals to get you coming back for more or you can’t trust the quality of it and are sometimes playing Russian roulette with your brain.

Do you know that about 10 percent of the Dutch marijuana users are severely addicted to the marijuana habit? (back this up with factual statistics from reputable research)

In 2015 about 30% of Americans have had an alcohol use disorder and one in 7 or more than 10% are chronic users on a yearly basis and the problem is getting worse. Add chronic alcohol use to habitual chronic marijuana use if legalized nationally and you have over 20% of the population fucked up on two drugs and there are plenty more legal and illegal mind altering drugs to choose from.

Does marijuana unnaturally increase your appetite?

Is pot smoking just as harmful as cigarette smoke in the long duration?

Conclusion:

Occasional marijuana usage can tragically lead to excessive usage which can impair job performance, thinking ability, and become a bad role model for personal offspring who will have greater psychological and academic problems in school with heavy usage.

About 10% of pot smokers will become an addicted or habitual burden upon society just as excessive alcohol usage is a great cost to society. There is also the greater probability that marijuana usage will lead to other forms of more addictive drug use in a permissive society causing more social havoc and misery in society.

Drugs of any kind such as opiods, cocaine, marijuana, alcohol, etc. artificially alter the mind’s chemistry and long duration usage is usually detrimental to good brain health or functioning. If you want to lead a productive life and be a success then drug usage will only handicap your ability to achieve wanted goals in life.

Escape from reality with marijuana and alcohol or cocaine usage and reality may come crashing down on you with a failed marriage, failed relationships, and maybe even job failure. There is no proof that average marijuana usage will ruin your life. It just makes the probability that you will have detrimental bad side effects in your life more likely, especially if you become a chronic user.

You should fear rampant personal and social use of marijuana and similar drugs in society because future generations and you personally and your family will probably be adversely affected in the long duration.

Finally, I don’t get high on marijuana and get drunk to feel good or reduce stress. Why should you? I don’t need artificial highs but prefer natural highs to feel good such as exercise and drug free social interaction. Our home is a drug free zone with punishment if caught and you will have to wait till your 18 and you live by yourself to use it freely if you choose to do so.

8 IMPORTANT FACTORS IN CLOSE GOOD RELATIONSHIPS!!!

f351bf90837754628b3248f48475cca8

If you have integrity and are trustworthy, dependable, competent, friendly, and empathetic then your chances of forming close, good relationships is optimized. Being immoral and having many bad habits or one or more severe handicapping bad addictions will almost always ruin the possibility of close, good relationships. That being said there are 8 important factors which affect the strength of a bonding relationship:

TRUST:

Trust is the most important bonding characteristic which makes a relationship possible in the first place. Being honest, sincere, and moral or having integrity means that a relationship can potentially flourish if nurtured further.

Lie, steal, or commit adultery and trust can’t exist. Some dysfunctional relationships continue to exist without trust because of fear of abandonment or the fear of physical violence but these relationships are definitely not good or happy ones.

COMMUNICATION:

A relationship is threatened and often ruined if the communication is very bad, if there is very little of it, and definitely ruined when there is no communication at all.

Ideal communication is being a good listener, asking relevant questions, being relatively brief in responses, respecting opposing opinions or beliefs, not being verbally abusive or offensive, and interrupting or changing the subject if the conversation becomes too verbose, too trivial, too emotional, or irrelevant.

RESPECT:

If you have integrity then you will be respected but respect can also be increased with appropriate kindness, gratitude, caring, empathy, openness, listening, dependability, responsibility, competence, expertise, confidence, tolerance of opposing opinions and beliefs, and respect increases by not being verbally or physically abusive. A socially prominent respected human will often also be admired.

RESPONSIBILITY:

A responsible human accepts the consequences of his or her actions and does not try to find excuses or blame others for his or her own mistakes and failures. Moral, parental, behavioral, and financial responsibility is essential for a good relationship.

COOPERATION:

Sharing and/or compromising on parental, household, and financial responsibilities is the essence of what cooperation is. Mutually agreeing on what is to be done by who at what time is what cooperation between two or more individuals means. Whether it is between two individuals or an entire team or organization a good relationship depends on successful cooperation.

BEING GOOD ROLE MODELS:

A good relationship thrives if the participants in the relationship are good role models. This is particularly important in parenting where offspring will do what you do rather than do what you tell them to do. Words are rather weak motivators if your personal behavior and your words don’t match up. If you are a good friend then associate with humans who are also good friends or try to mostly have relationships with good role model humans.

Realistically not that many are good role models and you will also have to learn how to interact with quite a few bad role models in the course of a lifetime without becoming overly cynical, jaded, or spoiled.

INDIVIDUAL FREEDOM:

In any relationship one must respect individual interests and pursuits which make a relationship interesting and potentially more rewarding. Encouraging or motivating someone to pursue their individual interests and build upon their strengths is usually good for a relationship.

PATIENCE:

Not every problem or confrontation needs an urgent solution. Sometimes some research, further discussion, consulting with competent adults, and just letting more time to pass determines whether mutual agreement is possible or whether a live and let live attitude is preferable.

Transient angry confrontations should be minimized by patiently waiting until a given situation can be calmly discussed instead. Angry confrontations often cause insults, put downs, name calling, humiliation, and ridicule which just creates bad feelings and no resolution of the conflict.

Important problems with potential solutions need patient waiting until enough information and resolve grows to a point where a solution is obvious and possible.

Most parental relationships have a dominant or controlling partner who makes most of the important family decisions and runs the risk of becoming too tyrannical and impulsive with her or his demands. Emotional patience is often a virtue and patiently doing something is less of a virtue especially if it takes the form of procrastination on too many things.

8 PRINCIPLES OF NEGOTIATION OR COMPROMISE!!!

negotiation1

Some things are nonnegotiable:

First of all it is important to realize that some things are just not negotiable and if you must or want to impose your will then force or withdrawal of a privilege is the only possible solution although often a temporary one.

Try to compromise or negotiate with a terrorist or a religious fanatic who thinks your requests are those of the devil incarnate and you will fail miserably. Fanatical dogmatic beliefs are frankly nonnegotiable and you are delusional if you think that communication will lead to any changes in those beliefs unless you are in a superior military and monetary situation and can threaten or scare someone into submission with the fear of death or financial bankruptcy.

You rarely know ahead of time but sometimes there are nonnegotiable points or demands which the human will not change under any circumstances. You may prepare to give in to the nonnegotiable demand but get a concession in return or a promise to do something which you need or want and the human can provide you with. This too is a win win situation because you are still both getting something which you need or want.

I don’t intend to give pointers on international negotiations but the principles involved in individual negotiations or compromise also apply to some extent in international ones too.

Negotiations or compromises are statistical probabilities:

Another basic truth is that negotiations are a scientific statistical probability and not an absolute certainty. You can increase the probability of a successful negotiation but you can’t always guarantee it. You may use every trick, tip, or negotiation principle and still fail at reaching a compromise.

It greatly helps to have integrity, respect, and expertise:

One of the most important negotiation principles is being liked and/or respected by the humans with whom you are trying to negotiate. Military, economic, and moral strength are respected by national leaders but integrity and expertise are respected and sometimes even admired by common humans.

Integrity is something which should not be compromised and if you are asked to sacrifice your morality for some short duration goal then your reputation will be affected adversely. Lie, steal, commit adultery, or murder someone and you have lost your integrity as well as your good social reputation.

Exclude intense and not so intense emotions as much as possible:

Emotional outbursts or communicating with much emotion can doom a negotiation because any strong indication of anger or arrogance will cause impulsive defensive actions or basically saying no to everything. Stay as cool, calm, and collected as possible in total discussion mode. Also don’t come in with a strong emotional attitude of arrogance or superiority with cockiness, overconfidence, bluster, offensive personal attacks such as insults, put downs, name calling, humiliation, and ridicule. No deal will be the result.

Know your adversary as much as possible:

This means finding out all that you can about your adversary before the negotiation. What they believe, what they think, what they do and who their associates or friends are will give you an idea whether they are negotiating from weakness or from strength. If you don’t know all the vital details ahead of time then the negotiation itself is a time to ask smart questions which will reveal important beliefs, opinions, and relationships.

Use time to your advantage:

Sometimes you can yield to or refuse a demand for a day, week, month, or years after which you either agree to renegotiate or switch to getting your demand for another duration. Time has an interesting way of changing minds because sometimes during duration ongoing circumstances almost force one to compromise.

Decrease and/or increase the frequency and/or length of a behavior or activity:

Sometimes a family compromise is merely decreasing the frequency and/or length of a behavior or doing it less often and not so long. Both spouses may feel that one is spending too much time on a behavior or activity which is causing family problems or personal dissatisfaction. The compromise is to promise to exchange behavior reductions and to shop less or spend less time on sports.

Spending more time on a behavior or activity may also be a compromise. One spouse may promise to spend more time interacting with offspring and the other may promise to spend more time researching recipes for tasty new home meals.

The third form of compromise is one spouse promising to increase an activity or behavior and the other promising to decrease an activity or behavior.

Stop or promise to never do that behavior or activity again is another possibility in a compromise.

A good behavior or activity can be increased or decreased in frequency and duration during a compromise but a bad behavior or activity should only be decreased in frequency and duration in a compromise. Immoral behavior or activity should be stopped.

Using the herd instinct or desire to belong to a group:

Sometimes compromise is more successful if you can point to many humans who are doing what you need or want to be done by a human. Peer or group pressure is sometimes a disadvantage in parental negotiations but if peers or groups are doing something right or it is something that you approve of then you can try to use peer or group pressure in a negotiation.

Stay focused on your goal(s):

Some aggressive negotiators, especially high pressure saleshumans, will try to intimidate, ignore, or cleverly change the subject to get you to say yes so try not to lose your focus on the goal(s) which you actually need or want and not those which you don’t want or need.

During a negotiation I had to repeat myself four times or ask one car salesman what was my yearly interest on a car loan based on a $3000 down payment. He ignored me or changed the subject four times before he finally came up with a printout in writing.

THE TRUTH ABOUT DEMEAN*

quote-the-moment-anyone-tries-to-demean-or-degrade-you-in-any-way-you-have-to-know-how-great-cicely-tyson-92-95-30

Demean: v. to cause a human(s) to lose their dignity and the respect of others frequently with (insults and/or put downs) and/or (ridicule and/or harsh criticism)

We have all been demeaned many times and sensed that our dignity was being assaulted and that we lost some respect from others. The way this was done was usually with (insults and/or put downs) and/or (ridicule and/or harsh criticism).

THE TRUTH ABOUT IMPRESS*

impress-logo-hires

Impress: v. to make a human(s) sense admiration and respect

Impressing someone is closely associated with a good or excellent reputation which is seldom achieved overnight but results from a long history of being honest, sincere, dependable, competent, and trustworthy. Usually someone with integrity has a good reputation and if they have good communication skills and are good public speakers they can in fact become charismatic influential humans.

Someone with an excellent reputation demonstrated over a relatively long duration is usually the one who is admired and respected by other humans and can be considered to be a very impressive human.

It is inaccurate to say that you are trying to impress your date by looking good, radiating a good personality, and maybe giving a gift. Admiration and respect only comes once you prove that you deserve it and it usually takes much more than one date to establish that as a fact and become truly impressive.

On a first date you can create much admiration or attraction for you with an expensive car, great job, and nice personality but the respect only comes with time and even though you may be initially admired for your performance the respect only comes gradually once you prove yourself over duration.

THINGS WHICH CAN MAKE HUMANS IRRESISTIBLE!!!

Irresistible

Travis Bradberry lists and briefly describes 11 things which can make a human irresistible and the top four are-

Be polite and respectful

Treat others the way they want to be treated         (this one is a little tricky because if you have an egomaniac who wants to be praised much then you don’t cater to his weakness by praising him or her much but you do perhaps praise them more than you would other humans. Also the human may have a weakness for certain foods or drinks which may not be all that good for their health but you recognize this and cater somewhat to these personal tastes so they feel that you care about them and what they like too even though you might not fully approve. If a human has weaknesses then don’t support them so much that they may begin to feel that the weaknesses are indeed normal and nothing to worry about. The key here is to recognize that there are individual differences and that not everyone wants to be treated the way that you would want to be treated called the golden rule.)

You must have integrity

You must differentiate between facts which don’t vary and opinions which are many and you recognize that humans have a right to them even without agreeing with you

Humility: n. being courteously respectful of others no matter what their status

Boasting, expressing extreme pride, and arrogance or a superior attitude against others is definitely not humility or being courteously respectful of others no matter what their status in life.

Rich or poor, healthy or handicapped, smart or not so smart, female or male, and young or old-a human displaying humility will be courteously respectful of all humans anywhere in the world.

It is a shame that many humans do not display humility when dealing with wilderness or wildlife which deserves even more courteous respectful behavior than other humans on the face of this precious endangered planet!!!!!!

THE TRUTH ABOUT MENTORING+

Mentoring-Concept-487498941

Mentor: v. to advise and teach for a relatively long duration by one who is frequently experienced and respected and trusted and older

Mentoring is mostly giving advice with some teaching and could be considered to be being a role model who is teaching you how to follow in his or her footsteps. In ancient Greece relatively old and wise mentors not only gave professional advice but even advised you on how to live a moral and social life.

Today most mentors mentor youngsters or are high ranked professionals who take a younger human under their supervision to teach them the basics of how to succeed in a given profession. Actually anyone whom you respect and trust and who is experienced at something or many things can be your mentor. Mentoring can be short lived but some mentoring lasts for a long duration and the mentoring can be done by someone whose knowledge is so extensive that you may go to them for advice as long as they are alive.

Mentoring is a general inclusive category and usually voluntary but some are paid for the mentoring subsets and it is usually considered coaching, counseling, teaching, supervising, or training. A general mentor usually does a little of every subset mentioned to some extent.

THE MOST IMPORTANT HUMAN DESIRES WHICH CREATE SOCIAL COHESION!!!

social-conditioning

As humans most of us basically desire or want to be liked or admired, respected, and treated morally by other humans.

Most of us desire moral behavior from others or do not want them to lie to us, steal from us, or harm us in any way. If humans treat us morally then we assume that we are respected and maybe even liked.

Leaders not only want to be respected but also admired for their character and achievements or competency and sometimes even desire to be loved by a devoted following.

Morality creates the possibility for a trusting relationship to develop not only between humans themselves but also between leaders and their followers.

It is also possible for a tyrant to develop a devoted following among some of their supporters but a majority of the population will mostly obey out of fear of punishment and may not actually admire the tyrant leader at all if asked truthfully despite an onslaught of propaganda.

Morality is usually also expected among the members of a criminal organization even though they may act immorally and deceptively on many outside groups or individuals.

We basically desire moral behavior from most humans and approval and caring from humans who really matter to us.

Finally there is an intense desire for sexual orgasm in the male and a desire for women to have offspring, especially if they come from happy families.

THE TRUTH ABOUT PRESTIGE

images

Prestige: n. large respect and admiration achieved for a subset(s) such as a human(s) and/or product(s) resulting from (quality and/or success) and/or (influence and/or wealth) and/or (good deeds and/or talent)

You can have a prestigious product or human who is respected and admired greatly. The product may also be a status symbol and represent the highest possible quality available. Prestigious leaders are presidents, tyrants, heads of big business, military heads, religious heads, and celebrities of all kinds.

Prestigious humans frequently earn their prestige through personal effort but there are others who inherit great wealth and try to demonstrate their prestige with the prestigious products with which they surround themselves with and really haven’t earned the prestige which they have.

Most prestigious humans have considerable talent and very good memories and prestigious products are relatively rare and frequently very expensive.

THE TRUTH ABOUT AWE***

draft_lens18481900_1334042698-a-a

Awe: v. to sense very intense respect with fear and/or wonder from a subset(s)

There are relatively few things in life which should awe us. The universe, nature, and rarely some humans are worthy of awe. Some conquerors, business humans, inventors, and scientists were truly awesome but that is history and we should not dwell too much in the past because the world is filled with serious problems which need rather quick solutions.

Civilization itself for the long duration is being threatened with the destruction of food and wilderness biodiversity and civilization needs an updated secular moral ruder to guide it towards a more peaceful worldwide interaction and interaction among humans themselves. Check out my blog The Truth About Morality.

Moral relativity is not the answer to successful human interactions nor is dogmatic adherence to old religious practices and beliefs the answer to what ails humanity.  Humanity is inefficient with inefficient language usage or communication, inefficient politics, inefficient religion, inefficient economics, inefficient education, inefficient social behavior, inefficient entertainment, and inefficient use of energy and money for the long duration.

Compared to the awesome efficiency of wilderness plants and animals humans are dead last and nature abhors inefficiency and will punish humanity in the long duration if we continue our inefficient lifestyles worldwide.

Nature is to be awed, respected, feared, and imitated and if it is not it will retaliate with a vengeance in the long duration.

THE TRUTH ABOUT NICE

ingela-arrhenius-be-nice-to-the-world-poster-by-omm-design

Niceness: n. good and/or right behavior(s) towards a human(s) and/or an animal and this behavior(s) is frequently done politely and/or respectfully and/or caringly and/or kindly and/or friendly and/or courteously and/or modestly and/or with just praise

We frequently like nice humans. Those are the ones that are polite, respectful, caring, kind, friendly, courteous, give appropriate compliments, and generally make us feel good in their presence.

Being nice is a social skill and if you need many friends or acquaintances in your life then you should learn how to be nice to humans whom you want to impress in a good way.

You don’t have to be nice all the time, especially if you are in a leadership position which may require firing and criticizing where appropriate, but as the old saying goes-you can attract more humans with honey rather than vinegar, so being nice is the honey which you should be using most of the time.

One very overlooked area which should be treated nicely is wilderness plants and animals. Be nice to them and don’t steal their real estate!

12 IMPORTANT TRUTHS ABOUT MOST HUMANS

Most humans want to be good and believe that they are doing the best that they can with limited resources and should be respected for it.

Most humans want to feel important or needed. They frequently want to feel needed in a job, family, friendship, or relationship with a significant other.

Most humans prefer stories which organize seemingly random facts into tangible or understandable examples from which to learn about life or circumstances.

Most humans make impulsive decisions and then use facts to justify those decisions instead of letting the facts primarily determine their decision. Past experiences and impulses frequently override the need to include new facts and come up with new decisions to fit the new circumstances.

Most humans like to be listened to which makes them feel like contributing important members of society and will detest you if you try to censor or muzzle them.

Most humans desire good relationships with others and deep and lasting ones with a few humans. The exceptions are humans who have psychopathic personalities.

Most humans generally fear pain the most and try to avoid it before they venture off into uncharted territory in search of pleasure or happiness. Trying out a new food which humans frequently feel may taste bad prevents them from tasting many new good foods in the first place because of a fear of bad taste or being poisoned. A basic desire for painless security frequently overrides a desire to take on new risks with potentially good results and the consequence is inaction or doing nothing at all.

Most humans daydream about or dream of a goal(s) which they will probably never achieve.

Basic human nature doesn’t change much and enthusiastic liberal minded youth frequently become more cautious and conservative in their thinking and behavior with age.

Most human personalities don’t change much in adulthood and you are probably destined to live with most of the good and bad habits which you have acquired as offspring.

Most humans want a second chance. Humans are not perfect, make mistakes, and act immorally and most want to be forgiven and given a second and even a third chance at making up for their transgressions or errors.

Most humans want to be remembered after death for something which they have created or maybe just for their offspring. One of the great regrets which many old humans have is not having done or left behind anything noteworthy on the planet after their death.

THE TRUTH ABOUT RESPECT

handshake-respect

Respect: v. to sense and frequently communicate that a human has (much value and/or moral goodness) and/or (much skill(s) in a (profession and/or activity)) and/or is experienced

Basically we respect moral humans who don’t lie to us or deceive us, don’t steal from us, and don’t commit adultery.

A car mechanic may be an expert in his or her field but if they are not moral and cheat us on repairs then we will not respect them and go elsewhere for car repairs.

We may also idolize wealthy and powerful humans who may not be that moral but have a profound influence in our lives.

We may not approve of or respect the Chinese political system but we are impressed by their economic power and are forced to deal with it. This realization is not true respect for the entire country but a respect for their ability to succeed economically in the world even though they are major counterfeiters of brand named products and steal patents and intellectual property with abandon.

The American economy and government is also morally unjust and is not as respected as it once was.

The new secular worldwide MORAL CODE which should be practiced to bring back true respect in the world is-except in emergency situations-don’t destroy biodiversity, don’t lie, don’t be inefficient, don’t steal, don’t commit adultery if married, and don’t murder!!!!!!

One way to be respected is to be good at your profession or job. Many doctors, lawyers, and car mechanics are good at their professions and are respected for their expertise.

If you can trust someone and they are dependable then chances are you can also respect them because lying or being unreliable can frequently ruin trust and with it respect.

If someone is immoral or lies, steals, or is adulterous then they will lose respect.

If you are deceitful which is hidden lying then you will also lose respect once your deceit is uncovered or revealed.

If you break or don’t fulfill many promises then you will not be respected because it is a form of lying and being unreliable.

If you are not sincere or nice but hurt human feelings too frequently by being rude, inconsiderate, using ridicule, quarrelsome, and cruel then you will definitely lose some respect.

If you are unjustly critical, a backstabber, spiteful, a name caller, don’t give credit where credit is due, greedy, very lazy, a racist, promiscuous, boastful, vain, or have other severe personality flaws which humans don’t like then respect for you will decrease though maybe not always to zero.

If you are a tyrannical boss then you will be feared but not respected by most humans.

CONCLUSION:

If you are honest, sincere, and dependable without severe personality flaws then you will be respected and even admired by most humans. In many cases respect is not automatic but it must be earned with a history of respectful behavior.

THE TRUTH ABOUT BEING NICE

Header1 Nice: adj. good and/or right behavior(s) towards a human(s) and/or an animal and this behavior(s) is frequently done politely and/or respectfully and/or caringly and/or kindly and/or friendily and/or courteously and/or modestly and/or with just praise

There is an old saying that you can get more with honey than with vinegar and that is just a way of saying that being nice has better payoffs in human relationships than being mean, nasty, and inconsiderate.

Being nice is actually a social skill which must be learned. You must have a good personal knowledge of good social etiquette and what it means to be polite, respectful, caring, kind, friendly, courteous, modest, and giving just praise.

A braggart or one who thinks too highly of oneself and advertises it is not MODEST and will not be admired or respected by other humans whom he is putting down without realizing it. Those in positions of leadership do not boast about themselves in public and the nicer they are by being modest or low keyed and not grandiose in public the more respected and admired they are by the public.

No matter how prestigious you may feel, if you RESPECT others by carefully listening to what they say without rude interruptions and nicely answer back and never personally assault them with harsh criticism or name calling using words such as stupid, crazy, and piece of shit then they will respect you back. Yes, there are times when supervisors of hard professions may have to use profanities to get their point across to workers who understand those words and are more affected by them because they use that kind of language among themselves but respect can frequently be earned by supervisors through personal actions such as doing some of the dirty work themselves once in a while to help out.

Expressing KINDNESS is more important in family life than on the job but even there if your workers feel that you care about them or nurture and protect them in times of emotional or physical need and give help when it is needed then they will respect you more as a boss. If you have a don’t care attitude and just want results without offering help when it is needed or giving another chance when it is justified then you are not being kind and considerate and your workers will not think highly of you as a good human but think instead that you are a tyrannical boss. Kindness is caring about your fellow humans even when help or kind words of reassurance are not directly requested in time of need.

Being POLITE and COURTEOUS is frequently expressed with the words “sorry” which is an apology if you have made a mistake or behaved badly and “thank you” which is a reward for doing something right or performing a favor. If you are being rude and disrespectful then you are not being polite and courteous.

Giving JUST PRAISE is also part of being nice because everyone enjoys being acknowledged for looking good and/or doing something well and/or doing something good. Just praise is not flattery and over blown praise designed to unjustly boost one’s ego or feeling of self-worth but frequently an honest deserved compliment instead of very intense praise which should be reserved for something truly great.

Finally being FRIENDLY can summarize most of the good characteristics which make up a nice human because even your spouse should be your best friend. Friendship is showing some respect, trust, and caring for another human.

Polite: adj. intentional respect and consideration and using accepted social etiquette

Kind: adj. relatively small medium intensity caring which isn’t requested

Respectful: adj. sensing and frequently communicating that a human has (much value and/or moral goodness) and/or (much skill(s) in a (profession and/or activity)) and/or is experienced

Friendly: adj. interacting with some regard and/or trust and/or caring and the human(s) may sometimes be a stranger

Courteous: adj. using good and/or right etiquette

Modest: adj. a moderate appraisal of one’s ability to achieve a goal(s)
