Understand that if a woman is financially independent before you marry then she wants and needs your loyalty, loving, devotion, emotional support, and parenting skills more than your money because she can survive financially on her own.
Most marriages are transitions from independent living to responsible parenting which many fear because of a reduction in personal freedom and the added burden of supporting offspring financially and emotionally.
Theoretically the economic purpose of successful parenting and education should be to create independent economic units from dependent ones in the long duration. Realistically even adult economic units are increasingly becoming dependent on the government because the economic system can no longer guarantee lifetime employment for all who want to work but lack ever more complex work skills needed in the workplace.
The strength of a nation originates from the moral integrity and financial responsibility of the family unit.

Trust is the most important bonding characteristic which makes a relationship possible in the first place. Being honest, sincere, and moral or having integrity means that a relationship can potentially flourish if nurtured further.
Lie, steal, or commit adultery and trust can’t exist. Some dysfunctional relationships continue to exist without trust because of fear of abandonment or the fear of physical violence but these relationships are definitely not good or happy ones.
COMMUNICATION:
A relationship is threatened and often ruined if the communication is very bad, if there is very little of it, and definitely ruined when there is no communication at all.
Ideal communication is being a good listener, asking relevant questions, being relatively brief in responses, respecting opposing opinions or beliefs, not being verbally abusive or offensive, and interrupting or changing the subject if the conversation becomes too verbose, too trivial, too emotional, or irrelevant.
RESPECT:
If you have integrity then you will be respected but respect can also be increased with appropriate kindness, gratitude, caring, empathy, openness, listening, dependability, responsibility, competence, expertise, confidence, tolerance of opposing opinions and beliefs, and respect increases by not being verbally or physically abusive. A socially prominent respected human will often also be admired.
RESPONSIBILITY:
A responsible human accepts the consequences of his or her actions and does not try to find excuses or blame others for his or her own mistakes and failures. Moral, parental, behavioral, and financial responsibility is essential for a good relationship.
COOPERATION:
Sharing and/or compromising on parental, household, and financial responsibilities is the essence of what cooperation is. Mutually agreeing on what is to be done by who at what time is what cooperation between two or more individuals means. Whether it is between two individuals or an entire team or organization a good relationship depends on successful cooperation.
BEING GOOD ROLE MODELS:
A good relationship thrives if the participants in the relationship are good role models. This is particularly important in parenting where offspring will do what you do rather than do what you tell them to do. Words are rather weak motivators if your personal behavior and your words don’t match up. If you are a good friend then associate with humans who are also good friends or try to mostly have relationships with good role model humans.
Realistically not that many are good role models and you will also have to learn how to interact with quite a few bad role models in the course of a lifetime without becoming overly cynical, jaded, or spoiled.
INDIVIDUAL FREEDOM:
In any relationship one must respect individual interests and pursuits which make a relationship interesting and potentially more rewarding. Encouraging or motivating someone to pursue their individual interests and build upon their strengths is usually good for a relationship.
PATIENCE:
Not every problem or confrontation needs an urgent solution. Sometimes some research, further discussion, consulting with competent adults, and just letting more time to pass determines whether mutual agreement is possible or whether a live and let live attitude is preferable.
Transient angry confrontations should be minimized by patiently waiting until a given situation can be calmly discussed instead. Angry confrontations often cause insults, put downs, name calling, humiliation, and ridicule which just creates bad feelings and no resolution of the conflict.
Important problems with potential solutions need patient waiting until enough information and resolve grows to a point where a solution is obvious and possible.
Most parental relationships have a dominant or controlling partner who makes most of the important family decisions and runs the risk of becoming too tyrannical and impulsive with her or his demands. Emotional patience is often a virtue and patiently doing something is less of a virtue especially if it takes the form of procrastination on too many things.

Marriage should be sharing the good and the bad times but sometimes you will have to give in, sometimes you will get your way, sometimes you will have to be controlling, sometimes you will argue instead of compromise, and sometimes problems or irritations will remain unsolved for long periods of time. Being supported emotionally and financially in the good times is easy but being supported emotionally and financially in the bad times is evidence that the marriage can last.
You also have to share the workload and if one brings home most of the money then the other will have to take over most of the workload of keeping the house in order and spending more time with the offspring. Where both spouses work then housework and offspring rearing will have to be a shared responsibility. Marriage is responsible hard work and working out a just share of the responsibility will frequently determine to a large extent the success and happiness in the marriage. The extreme of I have to do everything and you do nothing is not a viable option.
Frequently one member is more domineering or is better at making decisions and solving problems than the other or you may have strengths in one area such as finance and weaknesses in another area such as offspring rearing. Letting a spouse dominate at something which they are good at should be encouraged.
Marriage is trying to balance things or coordinating effort to reach common goals but it is also some independent behavior or pursuing your personal interests and getting support for those efforts from your spouse. Working together and sharing a business is rare and what makes interesting conversation possible is pursuing some independent goals, activities, or jobs and sharing those exploits with each other.

When the offspring are leading independent lives and sex has ended then your major reasons for staying married may be challenged and unless you have maintained mutual respect and still enjoy being together and sharing your daily events with each other which have nothing to do with offspring, then a potential breakup is possible because you may find that you no longer have anything in common to enjoy.
Kindness, forgiveness, apologizing were appropriate, empathy, honesty, sincerity, dependability, competence, confidence, loyalty, optimism, caring, a common morality, mutual respect, mutual and independent goals, responsibility, good humor, and commitment are just some of the major characteristics which can make for a happy long duration marriage.
As long as you don’t lie to each other, are not adulterous, and are financially stable then you can have some personality drawbacks which won’t necessarily end a trusting relationship which is the bond which ultimately can keep you together despite your weaknesses and differences.
Few of us have loyal true friends and a spouse can be that one true loyal friend so you don’t have to live life as a loner without dependable human support or relationships. When you have something to bitch about then you will have a confidential trusting concerned listener to support you emotionally if not in other ways and you will not have to stew in your troubles alone. Confidentially confessing your troubles to someone is frequently therapeutic and lessens the misery.
Living alone with or without friends is an option which you should not feel bad about because you can spend most of your life pleasing yourself. Being married is more challenging and you can’t always please yourself but it can also be more rewarding in the long duration and your relationship skills with humans can improve if you learn from and master the marital relationship.
Many modern men are not good conversationalists, aren’t very caring, have been brainwashed with much promiscuous behavior, and have led rather irresponsible selfish indulgent lives as offspring, and have bad jobs which don’t make them good potential husbands. If added to these basic facts a male comes from a dysfunctional family then the odds that a marriage will end in divorce are rather high and marriage should usually not be attempted.
Modern life no longer stresses important family values so your best bet is a husband who comes from a family which still values family values and a man who still gets along well with his family members. There are no guarantees in life that a good responsible childhood will mean a good responsible spouse but a messed up, carefree, or abused childhood and bad job are primary causes of messed up marriages and divorce.
Historically a husband who is a good provider, is moral, and has integrity was a great catch. Modern society’s values have changed and divorce has skyrocketed because the same basic historical values still apply to happy long duration modern marriages. Many modern women are good providers but unfortunately most men have not been taught to adjust to the new realities and few without the help of a nanny can do most of the young child rearing responsibilities well by themselves. Two working spouses with meager incomes and offspring is a recipe for disaster in the modern world.
In the modern world you can live together on meager incomes but whatever you do don’t get married, especially if that means offspring in your lives. Living together is an option while you are struggling to survive financially but once financial security is reached and you still don’t marry then that probably means that one significant other is hoping for a better partner to come along.
Marriage is a duty or responsibility to spouse and offspring and if you are not very responsible with your own life then don’t marry and ruin someone else’s life!

A leader must like responsibility.
A leader must like responsibility and know how to surround him or herself with responsible workers. A leader must like honesty, dependability, competence, efficiency, and trustworthiness which makes responsible behavior possible. The buck stops at the leader and he or she gets most of the credit for success or most of the blame for failure. Rewarding or punishing workers appropriately for success or failure is vital to responsible leadership. Sometimes the punishment can be as little as saying -“I know you can do better next time.”
A leader must like communication with humans.
A leader must have emotional intelligence and be able to effectively communicate with workers and motivate them on both the emotional and physical level. A leader knows how to listen carefully to what the workers have to say and gets feedback from them before a job, during the job, and after the job by asking appropriate questions which monitor work performance. You must know how to provide your workers with proper emotional support, material support, and personnel support to get each job done properly or successfully.
A leader must like to solve problems.
Having the right skills, knowledge, and experience with similar problems is vital to leadership and liking to apply these skills to new problems is a sign of competent leadership. Planning ahead and anticipating problems before they happen will frequently save much time and money and maybe avoid many relatively minor problems in the process. Being skilled at researching an issue which is new or unusual and may need a different approach is sometimes vital. Problems are solved with the right skills, knowledge, and experience and the solution is to acquire them or to find humans who already have them in abundance and let them do some of the problem solving for you.
A leader must like learning from and correcting mistakes.
Some leaders make mistakes and don’t learn from them or don’t learn how to correct them by trying again and doing the same thing a little differently. I will not change because I have done this successfully for the past 20 years without failure is a narrow minded philosophy which few innovative leaders can afford in the fast changing technological 21st century. A good leader who makes a mistake will not try to hide from it but openly admit to making it, learn from the mistake, and try to change his or her behavior so that it doesn’t happen again. A good leader views a mistake as a challenge to do better the next time.
Finally a confident leader is a good leader but one with a confident workforce is a great leader!!! Developing a competent and confident staff is an outstanding accomplishment.

Duty is recognizing the need for responsibility and being motivated to behave responsibly as an authority figure.
You may know how to behave responsibly towards yourself, a human, family, organization, or society and proceed to do so whenever the need arises.
You may fear illegality, social censure, and criticism by a human if you do not behave dutifully or you may just feel that behaving dutifully is the right thing to do.
Whether motivated by fear or a good conscience or both, most of us try to fulfill our duties and behave responsibly to the best of our ability.
We all have a duty to behave responsibly towards ourselves, other humans, and the world which includes a duty to save and expand wilderness!!!!!!

Responsibility: n. a subset(s) which is being controlled by a lifeform(s) and/or which is frequently an obligation(s) and/or duty(s)
If you are a parent and controlling some of the behavior of your offspring then you are being responsible. If you do your best to correct your mistakes and bad behavior then you are being responsible because you should be in control and are dutiful.
Animals such as some dogs can be trained to behave responsibly and protect humans and property. Animals are being responsible or dutiful when they raise their young offspring and pack animals assume responsibility when hunting and do their just share of the work.
Failure to be in control is being irresponsible and it will have or should have bad consequences.
A competent reputation is threatened if you start to behave irresponsibly and can no longer be trusted to fulfill your duties as a dutiful adult.
Many young adults have not been taught to be responsible independent adults because they have been over protected and under educated with rather useless information for a good paying job.
Over dependency on the family unit frequently translates into an entitlement mentality in the real world where we feel that we are entitled to benefits which we haven’t earned in a responsible adult way.
Government has a responsibility to defend the country against external and internal criminal behavior and should spend taxpayer’s money responsibly. Unfortunately government responsibility is frequently a reflection of individual responsibility and if the citizens are living immorally and irresponsibly then chances are the government will also begin to live immorally and irresponsibly and spend money unwisely.
Many modern lives are led chaotically and irresponsibly and this tremendous decrease in living skills is reflected in government actions which attempt to support much irresponsible behavior and welfare dependency.
Government and big banks are also to blame for financial irresponsibility because it doesn’t encourage humans to save money for emergencies and retirement with a dollar decreasing in value on a yearly basis due to inflation, paying almost no interest on savings accounts, and an absence of good long duration investments other than real estate. The financial system is so structured that it doesn’t pay to save money in a responsible way but rather encourages short duration speculation and profligate spending which causes financial crises and no responsible savings.

Delegation: n. giving one’s authority and/or permission to one frequently lower in rank to do a subset(s) which is frequently a task(s) and/or plan(s)
Trying to do too much with too little time can be personally very stressful with sometimes bad results and delegation of authority is sometimes the answer.
Delegation means that part of your responsibilities or authority is given to an employee who is mentored in what to do and how to do it. It is similar to apprenticing an employee in a job which they may want to do at some point in the future.
Delegating takes some of the workload off of you and can create a feeling of mutual trust and accomplishment. It can lead to a more self-motivated happy and competent worker who may then be in a better position to take over your job if the need arises when you are promoted in your job.

IS HE RESPONSIBLE? THIS IS HOW YOU CAN KNOW!
He has a good job or is studying hard and getting educated for a good paying useful job.
He makes promises and fulfills most of them and doesn’t make untrue excuses when he doesn’t fulfill a promise.
He doesn’t lie to you or play deceptive games with you but is honest and sincere but not in a brutal, rude, or unkind way.
If there is a difference of opinion then he is ready to discuss or talk about it without angry confrontation, changing the topic, or silent withdrawal.
He doesn’t believe that luck determines your destiny in life but that personal optimistic, effort, and achievement are much more important factors in leading a successful satisfying life.
He is not afraid to talk about marital life and share his opinions on offspring rearing, especially the realistic financial responsibility which this implies.
IS HE CARING? THIS IS HOW YOU CAN KNOW!
He nurtures and protects you and himself which is what caring means.
He nurtures or supports the important things which you are doing in your life.
He praises you for the good things which you are doing and believe in and tries to protect you from the bad influences in your life.
He knows that bad humans and bad actions can become bad habits which will be very difficult to exclude from your behavior.
He cares about your personality and intelligence more than your looks and does not just say things to make you happy if they are not true.
He cares about the important goals in your life and supports them with genuine praise.
He cares about his own important goals in life and is just not obsessed with you alone.
He is observant about your emotional state and can empathize with your unhappiness and sometimes tries to make you feel better with optimistic comments.
CONCLUSION:
If you are dating a responsible caring man then he is an excellent candidate for a future potential mate.
Note that not every characteristic or behavior on the list is necessary for the ideal mate for you but you should try to keep your standards as high as possible unless you have a bad personality, no income, and are not very attractive.
Having all three bad characteristics may turn you into a recluse or a desperate woman wanting to attach yourself to the first male, no matter how bad, who shows some interest in you.

There are many things offspring can do inside and outside the house which will exercise them and teach responsibility and will help them to lead independent lives sooner, especially when they start living on their own as adults.
The added bonus is that if both parents are working the offspring will be able to take care of themselves and household responsibilities no matter what their gender and will get enough exercise doing so.
All of the following exercise skills can be taught before they become teenagers and if they can’t do so you are not being responsible good teaching parents but overprotective fools.
Walk and/or running with the dog and feeding the dog
Cleaning and refilling the cat litter box and feeding the cat
Taking out the garbage and removing the trashcan from the curb
If you have a yard pulling weeds, raking yard trash, planting flowers and herbs and vegetables and older children can mow the yard and trim bushes
Vacuuming or cleaning floors
Washing windows and provide them with a ladder if necessary
Wash the car exterior and clean the interior (a stepladder can be used to wash the roof of the car)
Preparing and plating frozen food and/or certified organic food and favorite family recipes if there are any
Putting and removing the dishes and tableware into and out of the dishwasher or having them wash everything by hand
Have them put food on the table and then clear the table when finished
Teaching them to shop for food for the whole family in the supermarket and/or health food store
Cleaning kitchen cabinets, kitchen appliances, and the bath room
To gain access to a high microwave, stove, and high refrigerator shelves provide them with a sturdy non slip foot stool, custom made if necessary
Doing the laundry and put away clothes where they belong
Cleaning and organizing their rooms
Supervising younger offspring if there is more than one offspring in the family
Doing individualized exercises like pushups, jumping jacks, squat thrusts, sit ups, aerobic exercises, yoga, martial arts, and family agility training with cotennis as explained in my evergreen book COMMON SENSE.
For those that have the luxury to go out have offspring do swimming, snorkel diving, canoeing, skating, skiing, rollerblading, skate boarding, and bicycling.
As adults offspring will frequently not have the luxury of playing team sports so individual sports are much more beneficial for a lifetime of healthy personal exercise which can be done anywhere and anytime.
If you teach your offspring all the above skills you won’t have to worry about them living on their own as adults and you will have peace of mind knowing that they will not be living messy and disorganized lives and will be getting plenty of exercise on their own.
