HOW TO MOTIVATE STUDENTS AND HOW CLASSROOM TEACHERS TRY TO MOTIVATE STUDENTS WHO DON’T WANT TO PAY ATTENTION!!!

1305675722-room-class-school-classroom-teacher-blackboard-college-wallpaper-wallpaper

Nothing is a greater motivator than interesting subject matter presented in a dynamic inspiring way with enough feedback from the student. In a classroom situation with about 30 students each functioning at different ability levels it is impossible for one teacher to fully teach all 30 successfully. Quality audio visual interactive individualized computer instruction is the ideal one on one learning experience and all real teachers fall short of this standard of excellence.

In a classroom situation there are many potential handicaps which must be dealt with in certain ways. Any distraction must be removed and that may include a disruptive student. Moving a student to a different seat in the classroom away from a pal may sometimes work. Standing next to a student who isn’t paying attention is an intimidation technique used successfully by some teachers.

Embarrassing a student who isn’t paying attention by asking him to repeat what was said is another approach. A teacher may ask a student to assist her in doing something to get involvement from a student. A desperate attempt at involving a student may be to ask them to present a lesson to the class in the near future. Putting a student on the spot and asking her the embarrassing question “Why are you not paying attention?” is a risky procedure because an honest student may simply say “You are boring!” or “I don’t understand!”

A change of pace or a break may be necessary during which a film is shown, a game is played, or a problem is solved. If pure lecturing is boring the teacher may send students on field trips, have them do research, have them work in smaller groups on something, or have students illustrate a lesson with drawings or diagrams.

All the above are rather bad tricks of the classroom teaching trade all designed to compensate somewhat for the ideal one teacher one student teaching ratio. Classroom teaching is only appropriate in elementary school to some extent because moral behavior between students must be taught. Beyond elementary school classroom teaching and especially lecture hall teaching is highly inefficient and should soon hit the dustbin of teaching history!!!

SHARING 20 MODERN EVERYDAY MONEY AND ENERGY SAVING SENTENCES TO TEACH YOUR CHILD, SPOUSE, AND CLOSE FRIEND!!!!!

6f476dbc98eec0fe1b0931fce87e4f1a

The happy cat lapped up the water at room temperature which was in a semi-circular 500ml bowl and ate the table scrap diced raw meat or fish from another similar shaped 500ml bowl and a third similar stainless steel bowl which contained whole milk from the refrigerator.

When we are away from home for one or two weeks we place some organic dry cat food in a self feeding tray with self feeding water tray and make sure the litter box is accessible and filled with odor reducing cat litter. No cat care is necessary during vacation time or extended stays away from home.

All the 3 bowls lay on an easy to clean vinyl floor cleaned with a cheap money saving steam mop which only has to be used about once every 6 months since the cat and family are careful not to spill food or milk on the floor and walk in with dirty shoes but everyone moves around the house in their bare feet or thick white cotton socks in the winter time.

We never have a safety problem because both us and the children don’t run in the house but walk slowly and don’t slip on the smooth floor in our socks in the winter time.

We all try to eat healthy certified organic food without frying it in oils so we have only water cleanup for the dishes easily and efficiently done by hand with warm water and sponge.

We save a lot of money and energy by not using the dishwasher, oven or frying our food on a pan and practically have no need for soap or unnatural cleaning aids. We clean everything with tap water or very warm water or steamed water!

Let’s compress the beach towel and get it as dry as possible by using both hands

The dewdrops on the grass are caused by the condensation of water vapor in the air onto the blades of grass where it shows itself in liquid form as droplets.

The dewdrops disappear in about half an hour because they are evaporated by the heat of the sun’s energy when the sun begins to shine in the morning.

That is a porous sponge with many holes in it that absorbs the water very well and so is your paper towel very porous with a lot of air trapped between the paper fibers which absorb the water fast and efficiently saving you time.

The water in your glass is a form of liquid matter which when poured into the glass takes on the shape of its contoured or nongeometric shape.

When you hear a high pitch in the music you listen to which sounds very shrill the reason is that the frequency of the sound wave entering your ear is also high, or high frequency sound impacting your eardrum.

When it snows the snow comes from the clouds where the temperature is usually much below freezing thus causing the formation of water crystals or snowflakes each with its own unique design pattern of water crystals.

If you don’t have a high compression ratio in your car cylinders or a high performance car such as a BMW you can use regular gas in all other cars and save a lot of money with the same good mileage economy that premium gas gives you.

Premium gas does not make your car stronger or run better so save a boatload of money with regular gas in your family car.

When you drive your car the potential or stored energy in your gasoline is released into kinetic energy which moves the parts of your car that make it go forward fast or slow by releasing more potential energy when going fast than when moving at slower speeds.

Money is like stored potential energy and the faster and longer you drive the more energy you use up and also you use up more money the faster you spend it and the longer you live.

The lesson is to not do jackrabbit takeoffs with the car which waste a lot of energy or money and only try to use your car for necessary trips or you are wasting a lot of money or energy going places for no particular reason other than perhaps the thrill of the ride which will cost you plenty by the end of the month when you have big bills to pay.

The cost per kilowatt hour is 12 cents for electricity and it costs about 75 cents per kilowatt hour for solar power or 6 times more expensive or 6 times more money.

If you use solar power for your home for heating up water in the pool or your water heater or for charging your batteries it will cost you 6 times more money than using electricity.

Stay away from solar power unless you are powering an electrical device while hiking in the woods, in a remote farm area, or in the desert without access to electrical power.

Remember on cloudy days and at night your solar power will be useless since you won’t have any sunlight or power your electrical devices.

THE TRUTH ABOUT MENTORING+

Mentoring-Concept-487498941

Mentor: v. to advise and teach for a relatively long duration by one who is frequently experienced and respected and trusted and older

Mentoring is mostly giving advice with some teaching and could be considered to be being a role model who is teaching you how to follow in his or her footsteps. In ancient Greece relatively old and wise mentors not only gave professional advice but even advised you on how to live a moral and social life.

Today most mentors mentor youngsters or are high ranked professionals who take a younger human under their supervision to teach them the basics of how to succeed in a given profession. Actually anyone whom you respect and trust and who is experienced at something or many things can be your mentor. Mentoring can be short lived but some mentoring lasts for a long duration and the mentoring can be done by someone whose knowledge is so extensive that you may go to them for advice as long as they are alive.

Mentoring is a general inclusive category and usually voluntary but some are paid for the mentoring subsets and it is usually considered coaching, counseling, teaching, supervising, or training. A general mentor usually does a little of every subset mentioned to some extent.

18 IMPORTANT 21ST CENTURY EDUCATION GOALS!!!

logo

I came across his is an informative, interesting, and relevant list of important education goals or universal skills for the 21st century. Share this knowledge with your offspring who frequently don’t understand what the purpose of education should be. Education must be improved to fit the reality of useful jobs in the rapidly changing technological world.

I would only add that basic science information or subjects should have a prominent role in educating the learners of tomorrow along with calculator math solving real life problems like budgeting income and calculating money percentages. Teaching the meaning of statistics and probability would also be very useful to combat the illiteracy of a yes or no, always or never language bias or mentality. The useful logic of frequency or the use of rarely, not often, sometimes, most of the time, and x percent of the time should be learned.

THE TRUTH ABOUT SUPERVISION***

images (2)

Supervision: n. mostly observing and sometimes controlling the activities of a human(s) frequently with minimum teaching

Supervision is observing and sometimes controlling human behavior but usually not teaching them anything new. Parents sometimes supervise their offspring minimally and just make sure that they do not play dangerously. At other times there is almost complete supervision or teaching mode when they are teaching a new skill to offspring which may be very hazardous if done improperly.

Some supervisors are teachers too so maybe a new word must be invented to cover supervision with much teaching going on. Managing your offspring may be an appropriate word which includes teaching functions. Parenting is also acceptable but not a very accurate description.

Supervision can be thought of as telling humans what to do but usually not telling them how to do it.

THE TRUTH ABOUT TEACHING

teaching

Teach: v. to communicate knowledge and/or skills and/or behavior to another

One on one teaching is the most effective form of teaching in many cases. Teaching to a classroom of students with slow, in between, and fast learners is very inefficient where you bore the fast students and lose the slow students trying to teach to the majority in between students.

In poor neighborhoods absence of discipline, unmotivating dysfunctional families, downward peer pressure, and disrespect of the teachers are all further reasons why traditional classroom teaching fails.

A teacher can try to teach many things to a student but unfortunately experience is sometimes the best teacher when it comes to human relationships and life experiences on the job and elsewhere.

Teachers in poor neighborhoods are plagued with discipline problems and students not willing to learn primarily because of a dysfunctional family life and poor role models who don’t encourage moral, industrious, and achievement oriented behavior.

Most teachers are not paid well and the reason is not obvious to most. Most of them are doing a mediocre job of teaching with mediocre results and deserve mediocre pay.

Quality teachers are rare because poor salaries discourage competence and even good competent teachers feel the frustration of teaching 30 students at a time with a wide range of learning speeds and frequently leave the profession for better more rewarding opportunities elsewhere.

There is some hope that individualized interactive audio visual computer education which is adjusted to your pace of learning may save students from mediocre teaching but only time will tell how speedily it will replace the armies of mediocre human teachers worldwide.

PROOF THAT LECTURING IS HIGHLY INEFFICIENT FOR LEARNING!!!

TECHNOLOGY WILL SAVE US FROM MEDIOCRE EDUCATION

istock_000017467002_490x356

Interactive audio visual computer education in the home is the ideal solution to students who want to put in the time, energy, effort, and achievement and graduate much before the age of 18 in public schools.

Each student will proceed at their own pace and both the rich and poor will be in an equal opportunity educational system which will not be determined by an inefficient bureaucracy and mediocre teachers teaching mediocre liberal arts subjects which are inappropriate for the 21st technological century.

WHAT we teach is just as important as HOW we teach it. It is not enough to replace most current day teachers with computers but the subject matter taught must be job rich or the students are just wasting their time in a boring unmotivating historical classroom setting during their teenage years. Keeping students stupid and lazy for 18 years is no longer a workable situation in a future society which needs useful mental effort more than physical ability.

My evergreen truth book EDUCATION REFORM details the steps which should be taken to get us out of the job poor liberal arts public school educational system. My solution to excellent education for all those willing to put in the time, effort, and achievement no matter how rich or poor is more complete and relevant than the one outlined in the following link.

Here is a link to a video by John Stossel who interviews an author who feels that computer assisted home education is the ultimate solution to educational mediocrity which is the sorry state of present education.

INTERACTIVE AUDIO VISUAL INDIVIDUALIZED COMPUTER INSTRUCTION OR REPLACING CLASSROOM TEACHERS TO A LARGE EXTENT!!!!!!

lab2

Studies have shown that after two weeks have passed we only remember about 10% of what we have read. On the other hand we remember as much as 70% of what we say and 90% of what we see and do physically.

It makes sense to make computer education as interactive as possible with required verbal feedback from subject matter presented audio visually. This means that education should be noisy with the student speaking to the computer screen as much as possible and the computer answering back with audio.

Also for math and science subjects it might be smart to incorporate physical science equipment and mathematical shapes and sizes which the students can manipulate with their hands.

A smart robot teacher interacting with the students physically one on one is the ideal educational model for the future but until such a time a computer screen demanding as much participation on the part of the student as possible is the most efficient economical way of teaching a student with present day technology.

Yes, classrooms of the future will be incredibly noisy with students talking to the computer screen so it would make sense to teach all future students in a sound proof cubicle, have them wear headphones and microphone, or even learn at home in a room where they don’t disturb anyone else.

Reading voluminous amounts of information and reading lengthy textbook material is just not the most efficient way of teaching or learning and it is no great surprise why modern students don’t like to read because it is so passive an experience which we remember very little of.

PARENTING: IMITATION OF ROLE MODELS AND LEARNING FROM USEFUL KNOWLEDGE

follow-the-leader

There are limitations to imitating only parents.  Many humans other than parents are imitated throughout life and sources of new useful information are vital.

Due to the fast technological change in society, and due to the complex increase in specialized skills, no parent can claim to be an expert on everything, not even their young offspring.  It is the responsibility of parents to try to guarantee that their offspring are learning from the best people and the best media sources that their money can afford and their rank in society can help.

Things which you can say to your offspring:

“If you need better role models to imitate, then find other human’s and/or information sources which can teach you.”

“Make friends with a human who can teach you a new and useful skill and/or knowledge and/or give you a useful new experience in life.”

“Find someone to teach you.”

“If math is a problem, ask a friend who is good at it to help.”

”If you want to learn how to drive a motorcycle then find and pay a motorcyclist who can teach you.”

“Find the right information source to learn from.”

“Find an instructional video or DVD and learn from it.”

“Use the internet and/or books and/or magazines to teach you.”

“A professional teacher may not be the best or most economical source for teaching beginning basic skills which require much patience and repetition so learn as much as you can on your own first.”

“Learn as much as you can by yourself and we will find pros when you can’t further teach yourself successfully.”
