Unconscious: adj. sensing and/or thinking when asleep but does not include impulsive brain activity which is remembered dreaming
Conscious: adj. existing and sensing and/or thinking and dreaming a subset(s) which you then remember when you wake up
Subconscious: adj. impulsive brain activity while awake and/or asleep which while awake influences our behavior to a large degree, especially good and/or bad habits, and is an impulsive reaction to stimuli in the environment and brain and whose origin is all processed and stored prior experiences and/or information
Impulsive: adj. doing a subset(s) almost instantly without conscientious forethought
Think: v. to silently and mentally verbalize and try to make correspondences between the subsets of one’s own knowledge and/or experiences and using as much logic as possible
As long as the brain is alive it is conscious but the possessor of the brain has very small if any intentional control over what is referred to as unconscious actions and/or impulses originating in the brain when the brain is asleep.
Contrary to popular belief most of our daily wakeful actions are the result of the subconscious or impulsive brain actions simultaneously interacting with some degree of forethought. Very few behaviors have a purely impulsive origin without any degree of conscious thinking and similarly no thinking proceeds without a component of impulsive brain activity which comes from the subconscious.
For all practical purposes being conscious means being awake and having a normally functioning brain. Yes, you can also say that you were conscious during sleep if you remember a dream when you wake up.
If you are unconscious then you are asleep and don’t remember any dreams when you wake up.
Your subconscious brain is primarily responsible for your impulsive behaviors such as good and bad habits but it also helps you to think based on your prior experiences in life with humans and/or things. Your subconsciousness is a huge subset or part of your conscious brain and it really would be more accurate to say that you are more subconscious rather than conscious during your waking hours.
Your emotions play a large role and determine to a large extent what your impulsive reactions will be in many normal day to day experiences. When you are thinking much with minimal emotional input your subconscious is still at work and still guiding your thinking processes to some extent.
How the subconscious and the conscious interact while awake or how the impulsive brain interacts with the non impulsive thinking brain if there is such a thing is a big mystery. Maybe we are impulsive all the time and thinking is just being minimally impulsive. So brain activity is just degrees of impulsivity.
Conscientious forethought may just be minimal impulsivity guiding behavior.
Conscientious: adj. adequate caring and devoted effort to do right and/or wrong
Will science ever bring clarification or proof of the unconscious, conscious, subconscious, and thinking concepts? It is uncertain and only time will tell if the concepts remain intuitive philosophical ideas or if there is a one to one correspondence with brain impulses and/or activity and the 4 concepts.
I personally believe that the brain is always sensing and thinking but when we are unconscious we just can’t willingly remember any sensing and thinking that went on.
I don’t like my definition of conscious which is another word for being awake because we can still be awake in our dreams which we remember when we wake up. It seems like a paradox that you can be asleep and still be awake or conscious if it is a dream that you remember. To date I have not found existing adequate words to define my concept of consciousness accurately.
If you have read this far and understood most of what I wrote then you are probably a borderline genius because it almost took me a lifetime to get to this point of understanding.

A cognitive bias is often an impulsive mistake in reasoning, evaluating, remembering, decision-making, or other thinking process, often occurring as a result of holding onto one’s preferences, beliefs, emotions, and prejudices regardless of contrary information.
Cognitive biases are impulsive thinking biases which often make you reach the wrong conclusions and lead you into making inaccurate statements. Reality is altered by these cognitive biases and your thinking and decision making process becomes less than perfect often creating mistakes or problems where there shouldn’t be any. Often impulsive emotions are a major reason why the cognitive biases exist in the first place. Emotional impulsive reactions are habitual ways of thinking which dominate the decision making process for most humans and do not require much if any thinking before reacting. Most humans don’t reason or think but are impulsively judgmental to a large degree.
Authority and Respect Bias:
Worth mentioning is that humans tend to be persuaded by or have a greater belief or trust in authority figures and humans that they like, admire, or respect.
Confirmation Bias:
We love to agree with people who agree with us. That is why we only visit websites and read articles that express our political opinions, and why we mostly interact with humans who hold similar views and tastes. We tend to avoid or ignore individuals, groups, and news sources that make us feel uncomfortable or insecure about our views and preferences.
This is really a takeoff of the ingroup bias which is a tendency for humans to want to go along with the majority in terms of opinions and behavior rather than be the exception to the rule and develop your own opinions and behavior. Humans in general tend to be conformists rather than rebellious non conformists.
Previous Event Bias:
Humans have a tendency to place greater importance on previous events and assume that if something occurred in the past then the chances for repetition of that event in the future are more likely. Thus gamblers erroneously believe that they are on a winning streak despite the fact that the odds against winning are always the same.
Status Quo Bias:
This is our tendency to continue old habits and not try to change to new and perhaps better ones. We have a tendency to order the same types of meals in restaurants and experiment rarely with new choices. We smoke the same brand of cigarettes despite just as good and cheaper ones and stick with brands that we know in general and don’t go for generic equivalents which are just as good. The general summarized attitude is “If it isn’t broken, then don’t fix it.”
Impulse Bias:
We have a tendency to buy what we want in the short run but sometimes buy what we need in the long duration. We prefer to buy donuts and chocolate now but buy healthier foods for the next week’s consumption. Immediate gratification often wins out over delayed gratification and studies have found that those who can delay gratification do better in life and are more responsible.
Inaccurate Generalizations Bias:
This happens when you take just one example and make it into a general rule. Rarely is this attempt at generalization accurate and it is often faulty too. We may hear of one or two women involved in a car accident and make the erroneous generalization that women are worse drivers than men.
Stereotype Bias:
You make decisions biased by ethnic, gender, appearance, or professional stereotypes. You may be asked if both are qualified who would you hire as a car mechanic or nurse, a male or a female? The stereotype of male mechanics and female nurses is hard to overcome and is reflected in hiring practices which theoretically should not be discriminatory. The problem with stereotyping is that generalized group characteristics are unjustly forced on individuals who may greatly deviate from stereotyped group norms and deserve just evaluation.
Always or Never Thinking Bias:
You are too absolute in your thinking and think too many things are yes or no, all or nothing, black or white, always or never, and seldom sometimes, frequently, infrequently or grey. You may believe that the sun never shines during a rain which is generally true in northern areas. However, in Florida, in the summertime there are often 5 or 10 minute showers with the sun shining through the clouds.
Blaming Bias:
Before you uncover the reason for a mistake or a new problem you quickly blame others or yourself for it. There are many cases where circumstances are to blame and no one particular human.
Denial Bias:
Before you uncover the reason for a mistake or new problem you quickly deny that it was your fault or sometimes even deny that it was someone else’s fault. If you trust or like someone a lot then your first reaction may be that they are not to blame for a mistake or problem.
Rule Fanaticism Bias:
You strongly believe that rules are absolute and should be followed unquestioningly all the time. You harshly criticize yourself and others for not following them even though realistically there are exceptions to these rules which should seriously be considered. There are one or more circumstances under which the rules can be broken but you refuse to accept this reality.
Negative or Positive bias:
You focus too much on either the negative or positive factors and fail to analyze both the negative and the positive events and possibilities. Viewing the local news with all the examples of crime may lead you to pessimistically conclude that crime is getting much worse and you may take extra steps to guard against burglars and other thieves. Negative examples have about 3 times the emotional impact on you than neutral or positive events but there are still many optimists who focus on the positive rather than the negative and feel that things are getting better or at least staying the same.
Pessimistic Fear Bias:
You fear that mostly bad things will happen and often fear the worst case scenario. Being pessimistic about the way things are going in the world is common but it can become a major handicap in your own life if you live in fear of very bad things happening to you and worry about this on a daily basis.
Personalization Bias:
You take things too personally and get easily offended and feel that what humans do and say is a direct reaction to your behavior.
Mind Reading Bias:
You assume that you know what others are thinking without verifying the thoughts with questioning. You may falsely assume that someone is sad rather than tired and greedy about money rather than merely selfinterested and desiring affirmation from others.
Emotional Bias:
You assume that your emotions have validity and that others probably feel the same way that you do. Nowhere is emotional bias more prevalent than in discussions or arguments about religion, politics, and sports.
Fairness Bias:
You think that your idea of fairness is workable and preferable because fundamentally it is your opinion.
Miraculous Thinking Bias:
You think that getting lucky, getting smarter, getting wealthier, finding a mentor, etc. will solve all your problems instantly.
There are more cognitive biases than just 20. If you want more information on cognitive biases done in a slightly different manner then view this link which presents 25 and 12 cognitive biases on YouTube.

Meditation is an ideal time to relax and do some introspection by thinking and trying to find answers to some important questions to guide the thinking in a constructive way.
Asking yourself introspective questions about yourself and trying to answer them goes a long way towards selfawareness and the possibility for future improvement if you determine to do something about it and act on your revelations about yourself.
Here is a list of some important questions to ponder while meditating:
Do I accept my appearance as it is or is there something which I am so unhappy about that it needs possible cosmetic surgery?
Am I happy with my mind, smartness, emotions, mood, humor, and personality or should I try for improvement with new useful knowledge, research, new useful skills, and necessary behavior changes?
Am I eating enough healthy organic food and drink, sleeping enough, and exercising enough to minimize personal illness?
What are some of my bad behaviors which need to be changed?
Am I critical or ashamed of some obsessive, compulsive, jealous, and mean thoughts or behavior and want to change this?
Am I critical and want to change my depression, anger, impatience, intolerance, irritability, and pessimism?
Is there some behavior which I hate enough to change and do I feel confident that I can stop hating or decrease the hatred on my own?
Do I feel competent about work and confident with human interactions or is there room for possible improvement with enough selfdetermination?
Am I so selfcentered that my ego expresses itself in arrogant hurtful ways?
Do I want to be respected and possibly admired by maintaining my integrity and trying to be more trustworthy, dependable, competent, friendly, and empathetic with others?

Consciousness: n. existing and awake and sensing and/or thinking and dreaming a subset(s) which you then remember when you wake up
One can argue that when you are dreaming and remember the dream when you wake up that you were consciously sensing and/or thinking at that time while theoretically asleep. Consciousness should really include this exception to the general rule. Unconscious dreaming or sensing goes on also which you don’t remember when awake so this in no way can be considered to be a form of consciousness.

Mood: n. a relatively temporary generalized mental process and the behaviors which accompanying it which is emotional and/or attitudinal and/or thoughtful and sometimes shared by two or more humans
A mood is really a temporary state of mind or a generalized mental process and the behaviors which accompany it.
A solemn mood, happy mood, and angry mood all mostly refer to a temporary emotional state with corresponding behavioral actions.
A contemplative mood, thoughtful mood, and reasoning mood all mostly refer to a temporary thinking process.
An aggressive mood, a flamboyant mood, a passive mood, and a challenging mood all mostly refer to a temporary attitude with corresponding behavioral actions.
A violent, condemning, aggressive mood could be called an abusive mood.
Mixing up emotions, attitudes, and thought processes in the short duration results in a generalized mood which is also affected by your temperament and/or personality.
Humans in a group can also share a similar mood so you can ask -what was the mood of the crowd?

Noncoercive: adj. not using force and/or the threat of force to get a desired behavior(s) and/or thinking(s) and/or belief(s) in an animal(s)
If you do not use force or the threat of force on others then you are using noncoercive behavior or interactive techniques.
Some humans still resort to force and threats of force to get their way or to dominate others but it is increasingly becoming an unacceptable way of trying to control the environment with humans in it.
Abusive families are examples where force and the threat of force is still profusely used with some success and results in much misery for the humans involved in the abuse.
Coercion is the natural state of human nature and to be noncoercive is what being a civilized democracy is all about. Tyrants love to use force and the threat of force to get their way and rule and unfortunately oppressive forms of government and oppressive societies are still the norm and not the exception to the rule which democracies try to be.

Selfknowledge: n. knowing what ones goals are and why you have them and knowing how your emotions and desires affect your thinking and/or behavior
Most of us have some selfknowledge but not complete selfknowledge because most are living habitual impulsive lives and not so many stop and think about and pursue long term personal goals.
Not everyone is consciously aware of their desires and emotions and how they affect their thinking and daily behaviors. Most of us lead relatively habitual impulsive lives and seldom take time out to truly think about why and whether we should be thinking and doing the things which we think and do on a daily basis. Who am I and what should I really be like in the future are questions which are often not seriously thought about.
“Know thyself” should be more important than it is for the common human living a largely delusional habitual impulsive life in a world filled with myths and deceptions.

Dazed behavior and thinking is relatively random in nature and has little to do with confusion, bewilderness, uncertainty, feeling lost, unsureness, and disorientation which are circumstances which arise when your thinking capacity is basically unimpaired by certain mind altering drugs or a very shocking experience.
If you do undergo great shock and use certain mind altering drugs then dazed or random spontaneous behavior is more likely after an initial external action(s) designed to daze you.

I generally don’t like buzzwords or keywords which claim to have all the answers to all of life’s problems and difficult circumstances. Essentialism is an example of such a philosophy which takes a new look at time management and points out its drawbacks. The key point being that you should not be functioning as a machine constantly working but that humans need some time out to think and rejuvenate or recharge their batteries or potential energy so to speak. The ability to set essential priorities and exclude the rest is what this theme is all about.

Think: v. to silently and mentally verbalize and try to make correspondences between the subsets of one’s own knowledge and/or experiences and using as much logic as possible
What does “think about it” really mean? You are silently talking to yourself using words trying to come up with valid relationships which will hopefully help you decide what to do or solve a problem or problems.
You could think out loud but doing it silently is much more effective and faster or more efficient. Your impulsive feelings come into play so thinking out loud does not give the clearest view of the thinking process which includes many impulsive thoughts which enter and control the mind which are based on past experiences.
Not everyone thinks the same way because our past experiences are frequently very different and some think more logically than others and have different impulsive reactions to stimuli and especially brain stimuli.
Think before you act is frequently good advice but unfortunately most of our thinking is impulsive thinking since real life frequently demands rather quick reactions to circumstances.
If there is a primary reason for my creative output it is that I have a voracious appetite for new useful knowledge and the luxury of much time to think about it.

Decision: n. making an impulsive judgment and/or a judgment after some thought and/or inquiry and frequently doing and/or not doing a subset(s)
There are basically impulsive decisions and delayed decisions which require some thought and/or inquiry first.
Many of our decisions are rather impulsive or spontaneous requiring little thought. When we are hungry or thirsty we eat or drink or wait till the appropriate time. When we are physically exhausted we impulsively rest and when it is bedtime we feel tired and go to sleep.
When asked a common or everyday question we respond impulsively and quickly with an answer and only have to think a little if the question is rather unusual and requires some thought. Cashiers and fast food workers respond or act rather impulsively and are only slowed down or have to think if there is a special request or special order.
A decision to solve a problem may be very impulsive but thinking about the problem and reaching a decision on what to do about it may be very time consuming and require some research.
Making a judgment may be impulsive or take some time but ultimately for every decision one must decide whether to do something or not do anything.
We may decide that we are not eating healthy but may not be willing to put in the time and effort to do anything about it and do nothing to change our eating habits. Not changing to better eating is also a decision so if you continue to eat badly then you are ultimately the one to blame for your inaction.

Meditation: n. thinking without anxiety and/or emotion
Some meditation is primitive or minimal thinking such as concentrating on breathing in and out or visualizing a peaceful landscape and little else. This meditation can be helpful if you are very stressed and emotionally keyed up and it can help you to relax.
However, meditation can also be quietly thinking about a subject without anxiety and/or emotion. If you have had an unpleasant confrontation or have a difficult problem to solve then calmly thinking about it in your spare time can frequently lead to a better understanding of the situation and the meditation can actually lead to a beneficial future solution.
The best meditation is meditation with a purpose. Meditation can be to calm you emotionally and/or it can be to solve problems. If you learn or succeed in meditating then not only will you calm yourself down when needed but you may actually find solutions to problems in your life too.

Imagination: n. creatively thinking and visualizing in the mind
If we think and visualize and come up with new ideas or visual images which we then may record if we wish then we are using our imagination. Creative mental ability is something which offspring have in abundance and it is one of the traits which separate humans from other animals. Imagination can be outrageous and impractical but it can also be very interesting and innovative with sometimes good and useful applications in real life.
Imagining a different future in your life is frequently the first step towards making new useful goals and changing your life for the better or sometimes just making it more interesting to live.
