Commonsense: n. using reason without (untruths and/or deceptions) and/or lies to achieve a goal(s)

Common sense is a rare thing these days since so many untruths, deceptions, and lies are believed by society and have become institutionalized and almost impossible to overcome or correct.

COMMON SENSE is the name of one of my evergreen truth books and it shatters many of the untruths, deceptions, and lies floating around in society these days.

THE TRUTH ABOUT MISREPRESENTATION+

maxresdefault

Misrepresentation: n. untruthfully and/or deceptively communicating about a subset(s)

Misrepresentation really means lying about something either overtly and/or covertly and making something into what it really isn’t.

Untruths or overt lies and deceptions or covert (hidden) lies which mislead judgments and lead to wrong assumptions about someone are the two basic ways that you can misrepresent someone or something.

There is also relatively innocent misrepresentation which exists when someone believes a myth to be true or believes a lie and/or deception to be the truth. The common human often can’t tell the difference between a popular lie or a clever popular deception and is guilty of hundreds of misrepresentations promoted by society.

Comforting misrepresentations are preferred over uncomfortable truths by the common human and knowing this general truth the leadership promotes the misrepresenting popular propaganda.

THE TRUTH ABOUT WRONGS+

righting_wrongs_header

Wrong: adj. (untrue and/or unjust) and/or (immoral and/or a mistake(s))

If you make a mistake then it is usually something wrong.

If you intentionally promote or say what is untrue then this is wrong about 99% of the time. What is truth? Read my blogs and books to find out the updated truth on almost everything of importance in your life.

Many of the scientific and religious truths of yesterday are no longer true today so truth is an evolving concept but there is one almost eternal truth and that is HUMAN NATURE which has changed very little for thousands of years.

It is also a universal truth that at minimum, human nature needs a secular moral code to guide it or the result is suffering, injustice, and tyranny. A constitution with a bill of rights also helps to reduce the possibility of tyranny but without any commonly held morality society disintegrates into chaos or anarchy.

If you do what is considered immoral or unjust then this largely depends on your definition of morality and justice and any deviation from it is considered the wrong thing to do by you personally.

What is wrong today may be right tomorrow so wrong is a relative concept and depends on the time and circumstances to some extent.

Humans crave certainty and find it hard to say things such as it is wrong 80% of the time. Archaic language also promotes the absolute idea of yes or no, right or wrong, always or never, and 0% or 100%.

What is wrong right now may not be wrong a few seconds or minutes later. No now may be yes an instant later. Wrong now may be right an instant later.

If you crave peace in this world among humans then have peace of mind if you follow or promote the updated true secular morality. It is except in emergency situations-don’t destroy biodiversity, don’t lie, don’t be inefficient, don’t steal, don’t commit adultery if married, and don’t murder.

In this era of moral confusion I promise you that if you try to follow this secular morality in your life then your life has a high probability of improving and giving you peace of mind. You are doing the right thing without many ifs, ands, or buts.

THE TRUTH ABOUT PARADOXES+

byrdseedVisualParadoxes.key-1

Paradox: n. illogical communications only possible in mythological nonrealistic language

There are no paradoxes but only the use of language inaccurately. This example is supposedly a paradox but on further examination of reality it is not.

All Creatans are liars said by a Cretan so is he lying or telling the truth? There is no paradox because in the real world no one lies all the time or 100% of the time. Rephrased the sentence should read Cretans lie much said by a Cretan who is obviously probably telling the truth or it is an exception to the general absolute false rule that Cretans lie ALL the time.

It also seems like a paradox that something or someone created the universe. Then one can ask who created the creator? An infinity of creators? The way out of this seeming dilemma or paradox is to assume that time and the universe is infinite or that it has no beginning and no end. Frankly humans are just not smart enough to answer all the questions which they pose in a logical understandable way because no one truly knows what zero or infinity really means, especially mathematically.

Theoretical concepts in mathematics such as an infinitely small point in space having infinite mass, energy, and gravity are mythological concepts which don’t make sense because no one truly understands what infinitely small means and definitely don’t understand what infinite mass, energy, and gravity means in the real world.

Some questions simply have no answers and applying absolute word concepts to reality is really an inaccurate way of describing the real world. Language is fundamentally deceptive language which often doesn’t seem to make sense or is not absolute truth but mixed in with many exceptions to general or absolute rules called falsehood.

All mortals die. John is a mortal and he will never die. Obviously the second statement is a lie or a miracle or myth or an exception to the general rule.

THE TRUTH ABOUT MANIPULATION***

methods-of-manipulation

Manipulation: n. deceptively changing a human(s)’ mind(s) and/or behavior(s) frequently for personal benefit

Politicians, advertisers, brokers, and spouses sometimes cleverly manipulate the emotions of a human(s) for personal benefit. Making promises that they don’t intend to keep or feeding misleading information can cause someone to change their mind and/or behavior to their detriment later on.

A politician may get you to vote for them but not keep his promises, an advertiser may get you to buy a product which you regret having purchased later on, a broker may convince you to buy or sell a stock just to get a commission, or a spouse may convince you that they were not unfaithful when actually they were.

Manipulation is frequently deceptively feeding you half truths which sound plausible but will actually hurt you in some way if you go through with their suggestions. Most successful manipulations manipulate your fears and basic desires to get you to do something which you frequently regret later on.

You can also be rarely deceptively manipulated into doing something which benefits you or is good for you but that is the exception to the rule and is a rarity. Parents sometimes try to manipulate offspring with promises that eating something healthy will make them strong or beautiful and it sometimes works on young impressionable believing offspring.

If something sounds too good to be true then chances are great that you are being manipulated and will regret it if you follow through with it. The media and society is filled with manipulators and the probability that most of your opinions and beliefs are actually products of manipulation are great.

Read my evergreen truth blogs and you will gradually lose most of the social deceptions which you believe in.

THE TRUTH ABOUT LIBEL***

libel

Libel: n. willfully and fraudulently stealing the good reputation of a human(s) and/or organization with an untrue recorded public communication(s)

If someone untruthfully writes that you are a liar, a thief, an adulterer, a fraud, or a drug addict and publishes this then they have committed a fraud and can be punished for it in a court of law with a fine. Organizations are sometimes also falsely accused of being liars or frauds and the cases have been brought to court and adjudicated.

Scandal publications can print untruths, lies, or hearsay about public figures and politicians and sometimes get away with it because libel laws sometimes exclude untrue publications about celebrities. Some lies are so outrageous that no one takes them seriously. One scandal sheet published that Dick Cheney is a robot on the front page. The lie is so outrageous and maybe even entertaining that no one takes it seriously and it does not constitute libel.

Defamation or slander can also be verbal lying but frequently a public apology, retraction, or an admission to making a mistake frequently gets the offender pardoned and they are not prosecuted in a court of law for lying.

Businesses, organizations, and corporations are also interested in maintaining a good reputation and if a major publication libels them and it severely affects their reputation then they are frequently sued in a court of law.

THE TRUTH ABOUT DISHONESTY***

wisdomquotes-realgoodfake1

Dishonesty:  n. intentional (fraudulence and/or lying) and/or deception

Lying is an obvious form of dishonesty but failing to fulfill a promise is also dishonesty or lying about the future. Frequently contracts or promises to do something in the future for mutual benefit are not fulfilled and this is also a form of dishonesty or in effect fraudulent behavior.

Lying is immoral fraud which is not criminally prosecuted by law but in an ideal world should be. Social ostracism of liars or a bad reputation is frequently the only punishment that a liar gets.

Deception is a form of partial lying or partial dishonesty and not revealing the whole truth necessary in a communication or agreement. Deception is dishonesty too and it is frequently evident in cosmetic and supplement advertisements which promote products with desirable characteristics or results which are in fact not very accurate or even almost totally untrue.

A deceptive human is a clever liar who frequently gets away with the clever lie but he or she is a liar nevertheless. Society is filled with myths and deceptions or clever lies and it is my mission in life to try and reveal as many of them as possible for your benefit. The truth about these deceptions is not always pleasant to hear because many of us prefer to believe in soothing  or comforting lies and deceptions rather than in harsh truths or realities.

Total dishonesty or blatant lying is worse than partial dishonesty but one should realize that almost any degree of dishonesty is bad unless it is an emergency situation and you must lie or be dishonest to save a life or avoid severe injury.

Most of us would like to be healthy, attractive, happy, and successful and there are plenty of predatory deceptive charlatans who are offering us their bogus friends, information, goods, and services to fulfill those basic human desires.

What is the antidote to dishonesty? Being honest, sincere, dependable, competent, somewhat caring, and trustworthy. If you find a friend with those characteristics then you will have found a true friend indeed!!! Your social reputation will be outstanding too and you will be respected and maybe even admired if you chose to have a large following.

What is the difference between an intentional and unintentional lie? Usually an intentional lie is someone claiming to have done something when in fact they have not done it. If the lie is unintentional and you get a sincere apology then forgive and forget but if the lie is intentional then start doubting and prepare for more lies if you decide to have further dealings with the human.

The hardest lies to detect are the deceptive ones where there seems to be some truth in what someone is saying to you but you have some impulsive doubts. This is where reputation comes into play. How reputable is the human giving you the information? If they have a history of deception or lying then don’t trust them but if they seem fairly reputable then cautiously proceed and assume that some of what they are saying is in fact truthful. Some BS artists are so good that you will not detect them for who they really are and not realize that they are playing you for a sucker.

Finally don’t be too impulsive and accuse others of lying because chances are great that they have been deceived or believe in untruths which are ravaging societies and their lying may be unintentional. Their opinion on something may be totally opposed to yours but don’t assume that the opinion is a total lie or untruth. You need much useful education and experience with humans to read their body language, listen carefully to the tone of voice which they are using, and to judge the truth of the information which they are communicating to you.

Accusing someone of lying without proof or reputable witnesses runs the risk of a false accusation which will begin to ruin your reputation in the long duration.

Be cautious about new relationships and keep an eye out for deceptions and lies. My advice is live and learn because there is so much BS floating around in society that you are probably being deluged by it and have been brainwashed by much of it. If you want less BS in your life then start reading as many of my blogs as possible.

THE TRUTH ABOUT BRAINWASHING***

brainwashing

Brainwashing is getting you to obey or believe untruths, deceptions, lies, and ways of doing things without asking questions or thinking about the real truth of things. How this is done may not be obvious to you and there are 6 basic ways that brainwashing is accomplished.

Chanting slogans and excitedly corralling in unison with a group shuts out the logical reasoning questioning powers of the brain.

Deceptively adding bullshit or allegations of possible wrongdoing into your subconscious mixed with some truth and facts can genuinely mislead you into false beliefs and opinions or unproven suspicions.

Cultishly controlling or monopolizing what you watch or read can isolate your thinking and behavior along only biased acceptable lines of thinking and behaving.

Shaming you and ridiculing you for a different point of view or behavior is designed to intimidate you into obediently following without questioning in the future.

Arguing with black or white, yes or no, always or never, and good or bad choices which are emphasized so you don’t have the courage to question and maybe find out that infrequently, sometimes, and frequently are the true answers.

Always phrasing issues as us versus them or us versus the enemy and appealing to the instinctual herd instinct that your group is always better than the other group and your group’s beliefs and behaviors must survive and triumph at all costs.

Note these devious brainwashing techniques are used much on young and old offspring to get obedience to parental beliefs, opinions, and behaviors so you can thank much of what you do and say to the brainwashing tactics of your parents, role models, friends, teachers, and the media. You may think that brainwashing for a good cause or to get good results is justifiable but you will not readily create open mindedness, tolerance, and much logical thinking with a brainwashing approach.

A much more detailed account of these 6 brainwashing techniques is given in this link to a cracked.com article:

THE TRUTH ABOUT EXAGGERATION

images

Exaggeration: n. adding untruths to truths in a communication

In a highly emotional society exaggeration is commonplace. We say things are beautiful, great, wonderful, lovely, and super when they don’t deserve that lofty status.

Parents frequently exaggerate the praise given to offspring and the result is that the offspring develop an overly high, unrealistic appraisal of their selfworth, abilities, and competence.

Advertisers exaggerate the desirability of their products and frequently we are disappointed by the reality.

Exaggerations about yourself may make you feel more important than you actually are but it is self delusion which few humans will be convinced of in the long duration.

Exaggeration is emotional and factual BS so don’t do it if you want to maintain a reputation for honesty and want to be respected for your opinion.

THE TRUTH ABOUT DECEPTION

theft-by-deception

Deception: n. communicating a fiction(s) causing a belief in an untruth(s) and/or (an irrelevant action(s) mixed with a relevant action(s) and/or (an omission(s)) and/or a concealment(s)) which causes a belief in an untruth(s)

Deceptions with omissions frequently come in the form of promises too good to believe and don’t tell you that you are being suckered into a no win situation. A Power Ball lottery promising 100 million dollars doesn’t tell you that the odds against you are a 175 million to one and effectively you can’t win for all practical purposes.

Stocks with yearly returns of 18 percent or more don’t tell you that at any moment they can go belly up and you lose all your money or that they are in fact hidden Ponzi schemes which will destroy your investment when new suckers run out.

Not stating all the relevant facts is a form of concealment but a more popular business deception is putting in unwanted obligations in fine print which is an attempt at concealing important facts.

Deceptive communications are not the only way to deceive. Sometimes a deceptive business man or woman will show their expensive home, cars, and yachts which are actually rented to convince you that an investment in his or her idea is a good deal with large payoffs. An irrelevant display of wealth makes you more likely to do something stupid out of sheer greed or excessive desire to get a big payoff for minimum effort.

Magicians using deceptive hand and body motions, mirrors, and other technological means can trick you into believing what seems impossible to do at first glance.

Authors of fiction using some facts and much imagination may actually convince you that certain plots are believable and exist with high frequency in society. Fiction can actually cause you to believe in an altered reality filled with miracles or highly improbable events and correspondences.

Because there are so many deceptions, myths, and lies in society, everyone is a victim of some of them and the predators are probably laughing all the way to the bank or have been successfully elected to political office.

Big lies are not really deceptions but they can convince humans of untruths with miraculous claims. Claiming that a salve is just as good as a surgical face lift and that you can lose 10 pounds in one week  on a special diet are just a few of the blatant lies used by the cosmetics and exercise industry to con you out of your money.

If an offer sounds too good to be true then seriously check for inflated claims, omissions, concealments, and lies which are probably deceptive attempts at parting you from your hard earned money.
