THE TRUTH ABOUT CHILD LABOR

teenEMPLOYMENT

Teenagers historically used to help out with hard farm work and there is no reason why modern teenagers should not be working part time about 4 hours a day to learn the work ethic and about the importance of being punctual. Teenagers should not be treated like children subject to child labor laws.

School is not very challenging for most liberal arts students and little useful knowledge is learned in school these days so the school day itself could be cut back by about 4 hours without quality education suffering at all.

Teenagers should be working in rather safe work conditions as sales clerks, stock clerks, receptionists, urban farm workers, safe factory assembly line workers and packers, and as workers in fast food restaurants.

Teenagers should work at less than minimum wage and compete with other young adults who are working at minimum wage. They can get shuttled to and from work by their parents or use a bicycle or scooter if they are old enough. They will learn the value of money and how hard it is to make it and will be motivated to learn useful skills in school to get a better paying job upon graduation.

Yes, there will be more adult unemployment in society and those adults should invest their time, effort, ability, and achievement to reeducate themselves over the internet for free in a technological job skill if they chose not to remain on welfare but want something better.

We have become an entitlement society which feels that working at minimum wage is not worth the effort and it is better to get on welfare and get paid for no work at all. Training teenagers to work hard on the job will hopefully go a long way towards reducing this entitlement mindset and creating more appreciation for the value of working hard at something which we may not like that much as adults but which is an ideal learning experience for self-motivated teenagers.

CONCLUSION:

Teenagers are too removed from the real working world for too long and are not learning many useful skills in school which will land them a good paying job. It is time teenagers learned to work hard, interact with the public sooner, and understand that WHAT you learn in school is more important than how much time you spend learning largely useless skills such as music, physical education, literature, foreign languages, history, arts, and team sports.

13 THINGS TO DO TO BE MORE EFFICIENT IN A COMPLEX JOB

work-hard

Prioritize your tasks

List the most important most urgent tasks first in order of priority and start doing them methodically leaving the not so important ones for last.

Minimize multitasking

If possible do your emails and phone calls once or twice a day all at once to avoid making them distractions from your tasks during the day.  Do as little multitasking as possible because it will interfere with your concentration efficiency, lead to more mistakes, and less quality work.

Break up tasks into smaller orderly tasks

A job description can be communicated in very general and overwhelming terms which can create confusion when and where to start. Break the job down into smaller orderly tasks which are prioritized.

Select a quiet and constant place to do work

Nothing can be more distracting than much noise or interference with your work so select a quiet place and the same place to work which will not have new distractions which will exist each time you switch work places.

Unclutter your work space

Organize your desk space so you don’t waste time looking for paperwork on a messy desk.

Schedule your days

If you have a digital organizer you can get reminded of important meetings or events during the day so you are better prepared for them and on time.

Take notes

During meetings take notes or write down the most important information which you can refer to later on. Review your notes and determine what is important or should be done first.

Surround yourself with organized humans

It is not always an option but if you have the choice then choose the most organized humans to help you with your tasks when needed. Disorganized humans can greatly distract you, cause unnecessary stress, and make you work less efficiently.

Set a timer

Try to organize your work by the clock so you can assess your progress at relatively constant intervals and take necessary breaks which will refresh you and make you work more efficiently in the long duration.

Establish a predictable routine if possible

Try to plan a time and duration for daily or weekly obligations. It can be planning your thinking, meditation, or in place exercise breaks to avoid job burnout by scheduling them. It can be doing all your email or phone calls at the start or end of your day. It can be as simple a thing as putting your car keys in the same place each time so you don’t waste time looking for them. Structure your work with a daily predictable routine if possible and it will greatly increase your efficiency.

Get plenty of sleep, eat healthy, and exercise a little

You need good, varied, and healthy food to give you energy during the day and plenty of sleep during the night so you don’t feel tired and unfocused during the day. A little exercise on the job or away from it will also increase your efficiency on the job.

6 REASONS MULTITASKING IS BAD MOST OF THE TIME

images

There are some exceptions when multitasking is OK. You can multitask by eating fast food, listening to music, and driving a car as long as it is not in busy traffic conditions. You can listen to music, text message, and drive a car on the interstate if there is no traffic. The previous two examples assume that you have excellent coordination or good hand eye coordination. If you are uncoordinated physically don’t multitask while driving a car.

You can cook or vacuum and use the cell phone at the same time successfully. You can usually use the cell phone and do a physical habitual standardized task such as gardening, cleaning, washing windows, taking out the garbage, putting dishes in the dishwasher, exercising. etc.

Multitasking slows you down asking you to switch constantly between tasks and losing concentration and time doing so. Doing all your emails at once and doing all your texting at once is more efficient than switching back and forth between the two tasks.

You will make more mistakes multitasking and the more tasks that you are switching to and from the more mistakes you will make and your productivity will suffer sometimes as much as 40%, especially if the tasks require critical thinking.

It causes more stress in your life. If you make more mistakes multitasking it will stress you more. If you do badly on an exam after studying and watching a sporting event on TV at the same time you can even feel depressed with the bad results.

Your memory may suffer and you may not remember all the necessary vital details which is what can happen if you read a book and watch TV at the same time.

It can hurt your personal relationships by creating a sense of unimportance or an angry reaction because of rudeness. This happens when you are with your spouse or friend and interrupt the conversation by switching to the cellphone to talk or to text. When conversing with spouse or another person give them your full attention or they will feel unimportant and offended by your distracting behavior.

If you multitask while driving a car in heavy traffic it can even be dangerous to your safety and life.
