THE TRUTH ABOUT ANSWER+

Questions-and-Answers

Answer: n. a right and/or wrong reaction communicated to a question(s) which may be a (yes and/or no) and/or (conditional and/or noncommittal) reaction

We frequently want right answers to our questions which can be a simple yes or no or it can be a conditional answer or even a noncommittal one. The answers themselves may be conditional with the communication of one or many exceptions which are more accurate an answer than simply yes or no.

THE TRUTH ABOUT STRICTNESS+

Strict-Parents-Rules_thumb[2]

Strictness: n. demanding complete obedience to a law and/or behavior

Historically and still in many parts of the world strict parenting is still in style with demands for “proper” behavior from offspring. Strict parenting rules are appropriate for strict religious upbringing but not that great for western cultures where a more democratic approach is recommended for teenagers, although stricter rules for young offspring are desirable.

I would recommend a strict secular moral code for young impressionable minds and that is- except in emergency situations- don’t destroy biodiversity, don’t lie, don’t be inefficient, don’t steal, don’t commit adultery if married, and don’t murder. Once you establish an impulsive tendency towards moral behavior then the rest of your behavior becomes much easier and you don’t have to constantly ask yourself- Is what I am doing right or wrong?

Having a strict secular moral code is desirable but strict laws are sometimes greatly flawed in special circumstances and for special humans so some laws are broken because absolute rules are not the best way that the real world functions. It is not always yes or no, obey or disobey, but there are times when is most of the time, some of the time, and almost never. I obey the law most of the time, some of the time, and almost never.

Complete obedience to all laws all the time is absolute obedience to them and this is often very unjust for minority groups and handicapped humans with special exceptions. Absolute laws frequently trap humans into blind obedience causing them some personal harm, hardship, or great inconvenience.

THE TRUTH ABOUT COMMANDS***

sit-thumb-300x298-6346

Command: v. to authoritatively demand an animal(s) to do a subset(s)

The lower echelons of the military and fast food workers have a rather strict command structure with exact commands on what to do. Young offspring too are frequently commanded and do relatively a minimum amount of independent thinking.

Obedience training for dogs is an example of a command structure where each command results in some well-defined animal behavior.

Where teamwork is preferable there is more independent decision making going on. If we trust and respect who is giving the commands then we generally obey them but if we don’t trust or respect the commanding party then we may not obey every single command or demand.

Frequently in marriages demands or commands are made and sometimes ignored or severely argued against because most of us do not want to be ordered around or bossed around too much.

Language is designed to facilitate commanding with questions and answers and with yes or no actions or reactions. The kind of thinking demanded by most language usage is black or white, always or never and a very stereotypic kind of thinking which leads to many logical mistakes and an inability to reason accurately when necessary.

Instead of demanding and commanding try more discussion, negotiating, and sharing of ideas and opinions in your personal life.

Historically commanding or bossing humans around was much more popular than today. Parents would command their offspring with strict discipline, men would frequently tell their wives what to do, rulers would command their followers and military leaders, military leaders would command their soldiers, and humans would command and discipline their pets.

Today many parents don’t strictly discipline their offspring, rulers and especially presidents have limited powers to command,  business leaders in many technological companies or creative enterprises emphasize teamwork and not autocratic rule, and spouses try to mutually cooperate in making decisions although one spouse may be more commanding than the other.

Commanding is still a vital and necessary function in western societies and is much more pronounced in other cultures today but the trend is towards much more cooperative strategies of leadership. Power is shared to some extent and all decisions are no longer strictly top down leadership but an exchange of ideas and strategies before a final decision is made.

THE TRUTH ABOUT FREQUENCY***

frequency-wavelength

Frequency: n. the number of similar and/or different subset(s) per unit of time

One of the greatest errors in logic is assuming the world is black or white, good or bad, yes or no, always or never, antonym or synonym, right or wrong when the real way of looking at the world is judging it with frequency or thinking infrequently, sometimes, frequently, and very frequently or rarely, not often, sometimes, quite often, and almost all the time. Often means the same thing as frequently so I try not to use it because I am trying to eliminate synonyms in my writing and keep it as logical as possible.

Judging whether you have a good or bad habit or if someone else has a good or bad habit is to ask how frequently is it existing? If you are doing something good very frequently then you probably have a good habit and if you are doing something bad very frequently then you probably have a bad habit.

Before stereotyping or name calling an individual ask yourself how frequently does the stereotype exist? If a human is foolish very frequently then they could potentially be called a fool but if the frequency of the foolish actions is low then it is inappropriate to try and label someone a fool.

An important question to ask yourself is how frequently am I doing something or how frequently are you doing something? If you are unhappy then by asking how frequently you are unhappy you can judge whether it is a problem or something quite natural. If you are unhappy once a day  for a relatively short time then you have nothing to worry about but if you are unhappy four times a day or unhappy all day long then maybe you need a change in your lifestyle. In effect, if you are frequently unhappy then start to worry and maybe try to do something about it.

If you are called stupid, crazy, or lazy once a month then you probably have nothing to worry about but if you are called stupid, crazy, or lazy once a day or once every two days then your stupid, crazy, or lazy frequency is great and you may have to start worrying about it and maybe start changing your behavior.

In a command and obey world  with a command and obey language usage you are very frequently asked to do something and your choices are limited to yes or no or doing something or not doing it and this brainwashes you into thinking that it is a yes or no world.

The more mature you get and the more logical your mind becomes the more you realize that instead of a yes or no, white or black world that there are frequently shades of grey also and that many arguments and misunderstandings are started with a right or wrong mentality when the real way of judging is realizing that it might be mostly or partly right or mostly or partly wrong.

My wife without a logical science background was a perfect example of language brainwashing and frequently said “You always do that” when in fact I did it sometimes and it seemed to her that I did it all the time!!!!!!
