Infuriate: v. to cause very intense anger but less intense than violent rage
Anger emotionally can range from having very minimal anger to extremely intense rage.
To be infuriated means to be very intensely angry but less intensely than rage and especially the violent rage which is the ultimate extreme manifestation of emotional anger and its destructive accompanying behavior. Infuriation seldom leads to violent behavior in most cases although there are always some exceptions to the general rule or principle.
