A great idea whose time has come is to share a ride with your neighbors or close community humans for local commutes or for long distance commutes between cities. It is already being done in Europe and it is time that America woke up to an efficient way of transportation which means sharing rides with humans and not just driving around in your own expensive personal vehicle. What a great way to save on wear and tear on your car and also save money on gas!!!
Using a smartphone as the means of communication there will be a record kept of how reliable your car driver will be and if he or she is not punctual or a good riding companion he or she will not have a good reputation and you can forego the human lemons in favor of someone whom you can trust to be a good chauffeur companion. He or she will be rated with something like a star system with possibly five stars being the best ride!!!
The driver of the car will not only make money transporting the passengers but possibly can schedule more than one passenger per trip and make more money out of the use of the car. In effect it will be chauffeur or taxi service at a fraction of the cost available today!!!
Even motorcycles can be shared and rented with door to door service if there is room enough on the motorcycle for two passenger drivers and the savings in money and convenience is enormous!
Today the vehicle sharing will start out locally but eventually we can all look forward to the day when we will be able to share a ride nationally and possibly even coast to coast!!!
The savings in time and energy and money will be enormous but you can bet your bottom dollar that the rental car companies and the taxi companies and the chauffeur companies and the bus companies will fight desperately to prevent this great new transportation service because it will mean difficult times for them and possibly eventual bankruptcy!!!!!!
Avis has already purchased the first car sharing company Zipcar and is controlling the price so it does not bankrupt their car rental business!!!!!! The writing is on the wall- adapt or die!!!
