Retreat: v. (to be forced and/or to voluntarily move) from a subset(s)
You can retreat from a battle or you can retreat from a fight or you can retreat from an individual who is annoying you or trying to abuse you.
Retreating may seem like a cowardly thing to do but if you retreat to fight another day when you are in a better position physically and/or mentally or have backup assistance from someone then retreat is actually a very smart thing to do.
