Thank: v. to communicate small intensity gratitude
Thanks are reserved for small kindnesses and favors done by humans on a daily basis in public. In private saying “ thank you” or “thanks” is frequently neglected and the polite behavior is very easily forgotten in public also which is a small tragedy for many individuals in each new generation. Each new generation assumes that gratitude is implied and unnecessary but mature polite adults know better and express it in a word or carefully chosen words.
